Lesson learned.
Bleeds Well, frustrated with himself, and his inability to build simple wall, finds an outlet. It starts with a broken microwave dug out of a dumpster. A little elbow grease and wire replacement later he's got twenty dollars in his pocket. Twenty dollars turns into a small screw driver set. He finds a new tv that's been thrown out, in back of a warehouse only thing wrong with it is a faulty connection where the wall plug enters the body, and a few hours later he's turned nothing into a few hundred dollars. And so he goes for days, diving into dumpster, pulling out broken electronics and selling them. Most people he sells to drive nicer vehicles. The guy at the Arco driving a Lexus. For guys like him it's all about the prestige of the name brand on his wall. No one's going to ask him where he got it.
With a couple of hundred dollars in his pocket he walked into Home Depot, and found that he wasn't immediately shoed away. Lots of people walking around the store looked like him, haggard, dirty, clothing with holes. These were all people that worked with their hands and their minds, repairing and building. His people.
An order was placed, a pallet of bricks to be delivered, along with mortar mix and a bucket, the next day.
When the pallet of bricks arrived, Bleeds Well was already sticky with sweat and shirtless from tearing down the failed wall.
Mortar was mixed, and hours flew by as he worked with a single minded determination. Not content to build the small wall he'd originally planned, but to build one bigger, better. To prove to himself he could do it. It'd provide a better workspace, the anvil would be arriving soon, and the propane. Then it was really go time. He'd have a forge built in a few weeks. By next month, he'd put hammer to steel. Bleeds Well had purpose beyond the battlefield, Bleeds Well felt whole.
