The Arrow nods. "I found it easier to find a place with a Cabal. It was much harder when those people moved away."
She shakes her head at Briar Rose's question. "I do calligraphy? I find that relaxing."
Kaze found that if he didn't have time or opportunity to go for a long jog on a nature trail, getting up high above the street helped him clear his head. He could definitely use that now. He really ought to be better at meditating, no matter what the environment. Yeah, that's just one more thing on a long list of things he keeps meaning to spend time on improving. At the top of that list is learning enough Life to be able to fly. That should really clear his head, or replace it with bird thoughts, which might be okay too.
With a sigh, Kaze opens the door to the rooftop after jogging up all the stairs for the exercise. He immediately is aware that he is not alone! Oh. Huh. Phoenyx. And...others.
"Oh. Sorry, I didn't realize...anyone was up here." Kaze says, turning to go back down and find another rooftop, but curiosity wins out; he hesitates, "Uh. Is this a 'self defense' class?" The fit, young apostate asks. "I was meaning to help with that, like I said I would..." He says apologetically, looking at Phoenyx. "Uh, Hi." He says to the others. "I remember you." He says to Briar Rose. "I go by 'Case'." He says. "Up here." He says.
He looks at Tyche. "Oh, I remember seeing you too. Hi." He says.
Tyche figures the question was aimed at Pheonyx rather herself, but manages a quip.
"Nah, I never really fell into it," Tyche said, granting a noncommital shrug.
Eyebrows raise lightly as Pheonyx uses Mage terms. Not that it appeared there were Sleepers around, but Tyche wouldn't be a Guardian if she wasn't a little paranoid and cautious.
"Yeah roommates make things hella easier for sure," she offers.
The comment of calligraphy earns a smirk, but no comment.
But you scream zen garden, girl.
Oh well. Gift ideas. Did they make mini zen gardens? Google would know.
Kaze's arrival earns a bro nod.
"Sup, dude," she offers, "Name's Penny. Well. Out here, y'know?"
Wiggly eyebrows. Such mystery.
"And yeah, I know who are," she offers, "People seem pleased with how you handled yourself with the whole... reprimand thing. Good shit."
Her smile freezes, "People...do. That. The uh. Moving. Away." She says. Somehow, around the verdant vines, bearing splinters of those shattered broken promises.
She might have sighed around everything that she swallowed from her flyway sister. But she does drown it all with a healthy swig of vodka.
"Yo." she says, looking up atKazeCase. "If you can't figure out what to call me, then I worry." she says, trying for a tease, but her mood had soured again.
"Calligraphy is an artform, and it moves you. So. Yeah." she smiles, or tries to, "Hell the world wide web is full of what people call calligraphy porn. Looootta people love effortlessly crafted beautiful letters."
Phoenyx tenses slightly as Kaze appears, but forces herself to breath. So much for the isolated rooftops of the city. "You need not have bothered. Nobody came anyway." There's a slight sound of testiness. "No-one seems to acknowledge the need any more."
There is a frown, internally the Arrow curses herself. Using words on the outside? It was asking for trouble. What was wrong with her? Penny was also noted carefully. "I don't think I introduced properly. Alice," she adds, trying to move swiftly on.
She looks at Briar Rose, who had noticable changed her mood. "Is everything okay... Rose?" She asked tentatively. She's only really asked Kaze if he was okay before. it felt invasive and weird, and the look on the Arrow's face was far from comfortable as she did so. "Calligraphy... porn? Is that really a thing?" Firebird looks very confused.
"Oh, uh thanks, 'Penny'." Kaze says awkardly accepting a sort of compliment. "Honestly, as a total jock in a lifestyle for all the smart nerd kids, I kind of chalked it up to people having low expectations for me more than being pleased, but...you know what, I like your take on it better; I'm going to go with it!" He grins boyishly.
Kaze panics a little at Briar Rose's apparent implication that he should remember what to call her, then he relaxes as he realizes she's teasing, sort of, mostly, "Um, 'Not Late for Dinner'?" He tries, awkwardly to match her attempt at a lighter tone.
He nods at Phoenyx's rueful comment about the self defense lessons. "Yeah, that's rough. Sorry. If it helps, I know I could be more supportive in recruiting people for it." He says. "Um, you know, after...my thing." He says a little self consciously. "Or maybe I don't know if you'd want me to be associating myself with it, I mean, my rep is kind of, well I don't really know. Whatever you think will help, I'm up for it." Kaze rambles a little but smiles at Phoenyx. "Everyone totally respects you. They'll know to come to you when they feel like they need to learn better how to handle a pure, physical thing." He says confidently, "You'll see."
There is a glance of concern leveled at Briar Rose as she freezes, but Pheonyx is pretty quick to respond, so Tyche will let her take that one.
Then comes the misunderstanding of the term calligraphy porn and Tyche can't help but snort.
"To be fair," she begins, "With what I've seen from calligraphy, you could probably draw the finest of dicks if you put your mind to it... but, nah, it ain't like that. It's more like, watching a collage of someone coloring in the lines perfect or highlighting words just right. You know. That kinda porn."
Then a shrug.
"Must of slipped past me, but I'll go to the next one? I'm only really good with a knife though," she says, "I'm delicate like that. Just me and my razor."
"Welp, I'm not either of those things, but if I can get by there's hope for you yet, man," she teased, granting Kaze a smile. Mages weren't just nerds. Or jocks. Or philosophers. They were many things, but, considering the man's troubles, Tyche assumed that maybe this was all still new to him. If the Guardians had control of his coming punishment, maybe she'd be able to impart that wisdom a little more clearly.
Then spoke Kaze. Helpful, kind Kaze who seemed so concerned for little Pheonyx. He had a want to please or at least see her secure. It was adorable in a way and Tyche couldn't help but look between the two and smirk.
Finger guns atPhoenyxAlice, and a pointed look at Chase. "Say it with me, Rooooose." she drags out, more of a smile, less of the bite. "There's a reason why a name's a name's a name. Ya? Ya,"
A snort, and a laugh, then a nod, "Yeah I'm sure some calligraphers have made an art form of the less them tasteful dick pic, but yeah meant the latter. So satisfying." pulling up her phone and going a quick google search showing it to the taciturn Arrow. "English, sure, but still mesmerizing."
"Oi! I'm interested. Just, like. Did you see the meetings I was at? Gongshows, loud, ungainly. Words running into each other, over each other. Thought you saw me doing a lil wave. Working out. Yes please. Self defence classes by you, with your club status, Mwah!" raising her hand, she give a little chef's kiss. "I'm well, me." she says, pulling her hand into a clawed shape, "So. Punching people. Ish." a shrug.
Phoenyx bristles. She didn't like being handled with kid gloves. "Forget it. If people want to learn they'll come. If not, I get meditation done instead." She gives a non-committal halfshrug, and then looks awkwardly caught between looking pleased at the compliment and scowling. Catching Tyche's smirk the scowl becomes more pronounced.
It was still weird.
The talk of porn seems to be making Phoenyx shift uncomfortably. "I'm not sure I could do that..." Drawing dicks? she didn't see the point. She watches Rose's phone for clairification. "I suppose it is quite aesthetically pleasing, but I prefer to do the activity than watch." The statement delivered without any hint of innuendo. Fortunately there's another topic the Arrow can latch onto.
"Oh, I can do weaponry if you prefer. I have some experience with knives," she offers. "Physical strength is not necessary if one has the right approach."
She nods to Briar Rose. "It was very uncoordinated. Campenella's idea was noble in principle but the paths were lackluster in their execution." Except the Obrimos, obviously. There's a hint of a smile. Maybe her offer was simply lost in the cacophony. People could be so unfocused. The Arrow nods a little at the suggestion the Thrysus was naturally fierce. "My master was a lot like you. He studied life in all it's forms - the animals, and the plants - to see what he could learn from them. But also how to defend myself, in different ways. I would be happy to teach you both."
Kaze laughs, "Okay, so not a jock or a nerd? What else is there...'Band geek'?" He asks 'Penny' half seriously. At her mention of being good with a knife, Kaze looks interested, "Really? Any particular style or street style? How about throwing?"
He smiles at Briar Rose. "Rose. Gotcha." He says. "Nice." He ponders a moment and ventures, "I was really interested when I was learning Japanese, you know, the Kanji strokes, but it wasn't so much an art thing for me, just trying to get the meanings right. I think that actually made it harder for me to learn. It's like it's supposed to be an art."
He nods and just listens to Phoenyx. When she talks about her master he looks interested. "Did you do the whole deal? Like, what it would be like to be an animal? That's always been fascinating to me. I mean, I am what I am, sure, but I have always been really fascinating with studying life, and I always was thinking about what it would be like to be different kinds of animals, even as a kid. I guess seeing the Disney version of King Arthur got me going, how his wizard turned him into animals to learn."
