Another seasonal rite. Nathaniel was hoping not to repeat his performance from last Winter- luckily, Spring’s rite was far simpler in nature; after all, what better to embody the vibrant nature of the season than the Uratha? Their blood already screamed for action- this rite was just a way to enhance it.
The setup was far simpler, and Nathaniel sent out the instructions for this Rite to his pack. They were to meet up in the middle of a rather secluded park he’d selected, around sunset. The rite was to take place on Easter night, and last until the next morning. Nathaniel informed everyone that the rite is often performed with the participants stripped to the waist- but that this was optional. He would also state that some donation of blood (and drinking of said blood) was necessary for the ritual, along with basic details of what it entailed.
Nathaniel himself was shirtless, as everyone gathered- and while his frame was still far from impressive, it was a vast improvement from the scrawny thing he’d come into the pack as- that he was in Dalu form only accentuated the fact. A small stone surface in the park was marked with chalk, a ritual circle to help people find their place. Before the ritual began, he would petition Mother Luna for aid- howling in the cardinal directions and asking for her assistance. And, once everyone had gathered, he would speak.
"Brothers, sisters, companions in all of our struggles- today I speak not of cold hardships- but to remind us of the bonds we have forged and the accomplishments we have made, and will make. Tonight, under the Spring sky, we will reinforce the nature of those bonds, and pledge to continue to accomplish great things.”
Nathaniel held up a small wooden bowl, and a sharpened knife. He set the bowl down in front of him, kneeling, and spoke.
”I am Nathaniel Dormur, Ithaeur, Hirfathra Hissu, and member of Clarion Call. I swear my loyalty to Luna, and to my pack, and pledge to forge alliances with the spirits of this city- that they may aid us in striking down our foes!” At that, the crescent (after taking a moment to ready his nerves) stabbed himself in the hand, letting the blood drip into the bowl. Once he felt enough had fallen, the crescent passed the bowl and knife to the next wolf, to repeat the process.
Each member of the pack would make their claims, make their statements and reaffirm their bonds. Once that was done, and Nathaniel received the bowl now-full, he would hold it up to the moonlight. The scent of blood in the air, the fervor of promise and determination.
”within lies the power we all possess, the bonds we have all made, and the work we will all strive towards. Take hold, and drink in the power of this pack- Muth, Su, Hithim! Blood! Body! and Spirit!” And with that he would pass it along again, for everyone to consume.
So, basic instructions:
-A single post is all it will take, this time. Same as the Winter Rite, following the steps laid out below. But, after those steps things can continue as normal if you wish (though this isn't necessary). Bookkeeping for the rite will be done at the end of the scene. This scene is set to end on the night of April 12th, when it canonically takes place.
-The werewolf notes their name, auspice, tribe, and pack
-They make a pledge of loyalty and/or a boast (blood talons in particular are keen on the latter, canonically)
-The werewolf makes a promise to uphold something they find important (defending a loved one, fulfilling their pack role, etc.) and cuts themselves to seal this promise.
-Once everyone has filled it up, everyone takes a drink. What follows after the night ends (traditionally) is everyone going their separate ways, on their own ventures, filled with renewed energy.
My apologies for the very quick setup and lack of time; next season should present a better opportunity for lengthy pack involvement in the Rite, and if the color text doesn't show.
