The travel home was a silent affair.
The low hum of the Defender's engines providing some solace as Brigit pushed towards that place she shared with Ezekiel and the inevitable conversation that would arise.
When she arrived, Zeek was there at the door. Try as she might to remain composed, the Impure wept and... Zeek let her bury her face in his shoulder. Brigit isn't sure of how much time passed. Minutes? Hours? The Talon and her uragarum lover remained within the shadows, her form huddled next to his on the couch.
She tried not to share much, but Ezekiel always had a way of drawing the truth out of her. Soon, the truth was given. Her sin was relayed. She had consumed the flesh of one of the Herd.
However, when the reason was given and Brigit did all she could to hold him close, as if that was the final night of their union, Ezekiel did something unsuspected.
When Brigit said all she had done through tears and low whispers, Ezekiel kissed her. First on the temple and then on the lips. What followed was a night of passion and assurance. A final incident to define their continued dedication.
As the dawn began to creep ever nearer, Ezekiel presented a new task. Brigit must endure. She must rise. For her and the Uratha. The stain was hers to bear, but it was also a lesson she could teach the entirety of the People.
So it was that Brigit the Stained departed the her den. She would only return when glory was hers, but she ventured on knowing full well that Ezekiel would be praying to the Mother for her return.
And her redemption.
