The journey from the lobby to the two story complex isn't perilous as much as it is slow, or is for the Beastkin, keeping lessons learned of climbing and runing and holding fast, lessons a Fairest hadn't had seared into her battered Soul, keeping tight upon her ascetic even as it had failed her once before. Shoes betray her, as she skids, and knows another bruise will bloom.

Eventually they meet the stairs, metal and strong, though blackened, rough from fire and weather. Up they travel, the metal creaks but holds. Soon they reach a landing, a large walkway leads away from it, and towards the remaining rooms, of which 20 is the closest.

The brass 20 still attached to the face of the door. Which is closed, the white paint on the door, cracked and peeling.

Another Bashing for Titania

There was a brief pause when Titania fell again. The monkey grimaced, "You know, there's such a thing as shoes that are practical and fashionable." Sure, Sonnie knew Fairest were prideful, and needling Titania about her footwear choices wasn't the kindest idea, but she couldn't help it. The Bright One was going to break a bone at this rate. "Just take them off."

Finally, at the door to the (infamous?) Room 20. After looking right, then left, Sonnie raised a foot and tried the door handle, long toes curling around it. Her hands held her staff defensively. Was it locked?

[Titania]

She ignores the monkey, what would she know about that? It wasn't about fashion fads, hers was a style.
The bruises hurt - it was going to leave a bruise that she'd have to tend later on - but her pride hurt more. Still, she keeps up with the group as they reach room 20.
"Odd", she remarks. How come the door was still intact?

[Bugul]

Bugul stood idly as Sonnie tried the door, awaiting for the opportunity to travel within. As his fellow Beast worked, the gaze of the Goatman fell on Titania.

"You will bruise," he said simply. Titania was ignoring reason, but Bugul would make one appeal to her, "If those who took your fellow Spring remain in some form, you place yourself at risk. And I doubt he wishes any to join him."

The Monkey's toe grip and swift ankle twist finds no resistance in the doorknob, unlocked. The door swings open. What lays beyond is a wreck of a room. Mattress thrown against the wall, side tables, toppled with broken panels, cheap wood splintering. Spray paint spirals on the walls. Names, expletives, and rude designs are brilliant red and blue.


To the left of the room, they see a door hanging on the hinges.

Perception or Investigation please.

She hadn't known what to expect, but it certainly wasn't this. "Was the motel always in this bad a shape?" Sonnie shook her head as she crept into the room, keeping her senses peeled for signs of anything.

But that proved to be a mistake, as the omnipresent smell of ruin made her nose wrinkle and eyes narrow. Fighting the urge to sneeze took up all her attention, so if there was something of note, she didn't find it.

[Titania]

She throws the beastman an emphatic look before diving in. It seems she had been deceived by his appearance, because there was a gentleman underneath the fur. The other beast could learn a few valuable lessons.
"I will be more careful", she says, "Thank you"

The room is a chaos, though through the chaos she could witness a pattern of order. What hadn't been burnt to smoking embers, had been savaged by brutes and squatters. Graffiti abounded, a few irksome some carrying the torch of the most basal instincts and carnal desires. Words that should never leave the mouth or cross the thoughts of a proper lady, not even in a bridal chamber.
She shies away, a blush slowly creeping through her features, diverting her attention to the door. "You shouldn't read those... improper... things", she says in a low humming tone.

A nod is granted to the Fairest in his company as she seems to understand his advice.

Following them inside, Bugul again attempts to sift through the debris for anything of consequence... and fails.

The various mess underfoot crunches as the three explore the room, Sonnie sneeze echos off the spray painted walls, while Bugul sifts through the mess on the dirty, suspiciously brown stained carpet.


While the Fairest, focused on not focusing on the graffiti, finds a receipt. For a dinner, very near to the motel.

Sniffling, Sonnie wiped her nose on her sleeve and looked at the graffiti which Titania objected over. "Hm, yeah. I agree. F-U-H-Q? If you're gonna paint a swear, at least spell it right. That's just embarrassing."

The carpet. The brown stain. The monkey girl quieted instantly upon seeing it.

Beasts knew blood. Even the non-predatory ones. It didn't stay red, like in the movies. This was a blood stain. A big one.

She knelt down and leaned over the stain. A hand reached down, as if to feel the darkened carpet fibers, but then hesitated and drew back.

"This is it. This is where Abe died." Her voice was soft.
