Hector continues to hold his position, trusting the skills and strength of his pack.
Of course he wishes he was up front, earning his share of Glory.
But he is Alpha - and Wisdom must prevail. There is no need for them all to scout ahead.
So he waits, watches, and listens.
Standing near Hector, Chris nods to Emily. "Definitely the Hisil can't be worse than this place." It's a lie and Emily can probably tell. "I can go across first in case the spirits aren't friendly."
The stretch of tunnel between Hector and part of his pack and the two scouting Talons is empty, only the sound of breathing and a feeling of tightness.
At the far end of the tunnel Bleeds Well and Brigit both hear the approaching steps stop. Then a deep voice falls out from several feet away from the door down one length of the underground hallway it is partially open to.
"Come on people we've told you before that you can't stay in the parts room. Things go missing. We don't care if you sleep near the air vents or whatever. Just not in there. We'll give you a few minutes to get your stuff together then you gotta go." After the man's voice falls silent the pair outside in the underground hallway being to quietly discuss a bet as to how messy the parts room will be.
Matt stifles a whine and crouches low next to his Alpha as the Alpha maintains a rear position in reserve. Matt’s determinedly staying alert and ready as a reserve to rush forward to help or to cover a retreat.
Am I chasing my own tail here?
I sniff the air, what's going on? Do the rats have a community, or are there potential innocents caught up in this nest of chaos.

Brigit continues to wait. None of the pack have moved. They may well be forced to engage, but such was the way.
As Bleeds Well sniffs, Brigit remains silent, remaining still in the darkness.
Emily paws the ground, restlessly. She liked to be doing things, and years of working alone meant she was always doing things. Waiting for someone else, when she knew there were things to poke, just isn't her style.
The Low Honour the high, Emmy. Even if they're wrong.
<<Let me do my job, chief>> Urhan-Emily sniffs at Hector. <<Gauntlet so thin can be back just as easy. We watch for if needed. But spirits see much>>
At least Hector grunted in assent.
"Go! Emily Makerith Bleeds Well Brigit and Matt Joule ! Chris Kelreth and I will wait as back up here. No need to reveal our full strength unless it is necessary."
Matt tenses, ready to spring forward and follow, whether across the Guantlet or down the passage is the only question. He waits now to see and intends to follow Emily across if she goes, or to follow Bridgit down the passage to where their scouts are if she moves there first!
Sometimes scent can give away innocence, or the appearance of guilt at least from fear. This is not one of those times though. Through the partially opened door Bleeds Well can smell two humans. Who smell like they've had a long day working in damp concrete tunnels with a hint of acrid cleaning solution. The room itself smells like Rat though and there's definitely more of the smell on the other side of the door. But no Rat close by, just two humans.
"Try not to have to much fun eh?" The Talon says with a grin at Emily after Hector makes his decision.
Regardless of who steps across first the spirits will simply shift to warily watch the Uratha, presuming no violent actions are taken that is.
