Asking someone to get a scan sounded less like getting some help, and more like getting a guinea pig to Mobius. Besides aren't those scans expensive? "I'm gonna have to say no on that one, Doc." she chuckled awkwardly. Was he a doctor? If he mentioned it before she didn't recall, but who else could so casually obtain a brain scan of all things. Either way, that seemed like the kind of invasion of privacy she didn't want to sign up for.
On the other hand, diving into an abandoned hospital and taking pictures? That's Saturday night fun. "I have an iPhone, Doc. Best amateur camera around, and I can definitely bring it, if you're being serious." Her eyes wide with wonder.
Then the Guardian appears, and with him that awkward guilty conscience feeling you get when a police car drives behind you on the highway. That anxiety that even though you've done nothing wrong, maybe you have. She bristled at the oppressiveness of that sort of authority, even if the Guardians and the Mysterium tended to have a pleasant working relationship - at least where she was from. Before she could muster the nerve to greet Winter, another mage appears.
She diverts her greeting, "Hi Case!" she says, a little too loud for a quiet book store, but breathing a sigh of relief. This many mages all gathered in a small aisle of a bookstore. This didn't seem like a coincidence, that's for sure.
The Shaman smiles at the Mystigoge. "That's quite alright. Research volunteers are, of course, compensated for their time, but it's not for everyone."
Anima glances down at his magazine for a moment before bringing his eyes back up to Mobius, "I'm always serious when it comes to Haunted locations. Bring on that iPhone and let us catch ourselves a ghost."
He offers a friendly smile and head nod to the newcomer, then shifts his weight as the area seems to becoming increasingly crowded. "Well I should probably check out and get home to get changed for work. It was good seeing you all." And with that the Shaman walks away from the group.
Exit Scene
"Oh, hey did he just say he was looking for someone to help in brain testing experiments? Does anyone have his number? I am totally up for that!" Kaze says. "I am going to go ask him, nice to see you guys! I'm taking classes here, so maybe I'll see you around." He says with a smile and a wave. He hurries after the departed man to catch him.
Kaze exits the scene too.
Unsurprisingly, people seemed to depart whenever he was around, so much for fitting in. The Guardian wasn't exactly thin-skinned, and he could appreciate the quietness of a solitary existance, still, the rampant distrust made his job harder. Especially when those "experiments" could betray a more mystical nature.
"How do you find the inventory of the local libraries. Anything interesting?", interesting of course was a codeword for "things normal people shouldn't see".
Campanella relaxed in stages, a process that seemed to speed up as first, the Libertine, and then Kaze left. The Hierarch made to return to the aisles; then Winter spoke.
Campanella looked up, an eyebrow raised.
"I have found the local libraries to be... boringly... mundane."
As quickly as the crowd had gathered, it was reduced. Suddenly, Mobius was alone with the consilium's authority figures. Neither of them seemed especially concerned with speaking to her, so she tried to make herself appear distracted anyway, fingers of her free hand fiddling with the reading materials on the nearest bookshelf. Equal parts wanting to be noticed, but not wanting to intrude on any sort of official business. She contented herself with listening in, for the time being.
The feeling of non-inclusiveness is something the Guardians are all-too familiar with. He now addresses the girl, "And you, young Lady. How are you finding the city?", he asks in an almost fatherly tone, "There's not much going on right now. Which might be a good, according to the point of view"
She tenses for just a moment as the guardian speaks to her. They hadn't even truly been introduced other than in passing, but he speaks in a tone that she finds a little reassuring.
"It's definitely been quiet since I arrived. For the most part." she pauses for a moment and meets Winter's gaze. "You must be doing a good job." An awkward smile.
"The city is.. small." She reflects aloud, thinking about the consilium's low numbers. Low by the standards of where she came from anyway. "But I have a lot more freedom, I can do my own thing." she shakes her shoulder bag - with the city map sticking out - for emphasis.
Campanella kept half an eye on the conversation while he paid for his selection of magazines.
"Quiet is good," he said carefully.
"You want some time to simply... settle in... And as you say, you like the doing your own thing. If things were more lively, you might not get the chance."
He let a soft chuckle soften his face.
