(Mission Impawsible) Paw and Order

[Sonnie Wu]

Sonnie smiled pleasantly at Jason, and waved off his concerns. "Not taking him anywhere, dude."

She stood, by, ready to help Reed if he needed it, but otherwise she turned her attention towards Titania. The Fairest's behavior was... interesting. Just what was she up to with the little girl?

[Saber Sloth]

"OOooooooooh!" The little girl coos, "Yes! I can do that! I can! I can!" she bounces, clapping again. The girl's parents, calmer now, look on with amusement, and slight concern but apresitive of the women who'd calmed their child.

The medic on the other hand, gets a beep from his radio and heaves a sigh. He makes to leave but not before an attempt to slip his number into Titana's hand.


Jason, magically ignored scowls at Sonnie, his glare only letting up when Reed starts to explain. He gives a shaky nod, and brings is hand up once again.

Upon his palm is a scared circle of a bite, and in the centre the thorn. Unfortunately it is under the skin, having pierced the flesh of Jason's palm, is scared over but pigmented, unearthly and obviously hedge born.

[Titania]

"Pinky swear?", she says offering her finger. "I'll be there"

Sonnie peered over the Wizened's shoulder at the thorn embedded in Jason's palm. Ouch, it was under the skin? That would require some cutting, and maybe some privacy.

"Maybe take this down the hallway or something?" she softly suggested to Reed.

[Saber Sloth]

The girl brandishes her pink with all the solemnity and seriousness as the occasion calls for. Which is quite a lot, for the small girl with the mauled face.



The boy on the other hand cries out, eyes wide. "C'on! What's happening! Tell me!" yanking his hand away and scowling. "Do you know how to help me or not?!"

[Sonnie Wu]

Sonnie glanced about the lobby, then stepped over to Jason and knelt down. Although the boy could scream at the top of his lungs and not draw attention, the Beast herself was not so cloaked. She had to keep her voice low to avoid the notice of the shelter staff and visitors.

"Okay, listen, dude. I learned how to help you. If you want your family to see you again, we need to take that thorn out of your hand and burn it." She spoke to him like an adult. Kids appreciated that, right? "But that would involve a little pain. We'd have to cut the thorn out. Are you okay with that?"

[Titania]

It's not that she's willfully ignoring the ghost of a child currently screaming his lungs out. And neither she's playing favorites for the girl, well, maybe a little. It's just that as somebody more than knowledgeable in the occult ways of hedge botany and a scientist too familiar with medicine, she's well aware that this kind of thing is never as simple as just picking and burning a thorn out. If only life was that linear.
So, she doesn't want to give the child false hope, nurture his expectations just to see his desire for a return to normalcy squashed under the crude burden of facts.
Nope, she can't.
It doesn't help that Sonnie is running her simian mouth too much, cheap promises of quick and quack remedies notwithstanding.
"I think we're overstayed our welcome and that we should leave", she says, rising to her feet.

[Saber Sloth]

"Awwwwww!" she coos, eyes wide then narrowing when Titania didn't turn back towards her, "No! You can't leave! I want you to stay!" she yells, cheeks puffed up, reddening, and contrasting with the white of her gause. Her parents, kick into action, shushing their daughter, one offers a pleasing look towards Titania, while the other, the mother takes a moment to glare death towards her husband, only for the look to be caught by the daughter between them, casing her cries to increase.

Their unseen son on the other hand shakes his head in denial. "What?! No!" more shaking, "You can't...it can't. Noooo." He bites his lip. Looking at the grown up telling him how to undo what a talking dog did. "Oh. I." His tooth bites into his lip, leaving a bead of blood, but before he can change his mind, he's off!

Running towards the heavy desk, in a flash he's behind it. Rummaging around.

It take him a moment before he shouts out, "Here!" he shoves a pair of heavy scissors onto the top of the desk. Old things, the black peeling off the handel in chips and flakes.

Jason, then turns to the purses and coats, resting on chairs and the shelves behind those. Eventually, with the coat thrown to the ground, and it's change and pocket lint hitting the concrete, he shows a small pink plastic lighter.

Scrambling for the scissors, he heaves a breath, and holds his palm up. Shaking, like a leave in the wind. Tears coming down like a torrent. "I-I can't! I want to be seen again! I do! Really, but I can't!" Turning his tear filled gaze towards Sonnie, he offers the scissors to her, then his palm. The Thorn underskin, buried by scar, gleams in the light.

"Please."

Leave? Yeah, no. Sonnie wasn't about to abandon this boy. She hadn't gone to all this trouble to save him just to leave him in the lurch now. The Beast just firmly shook her head at Titania. "Gotta use the restroom first."

She looked to Jason, nodded towards the scavenged equipment, then jerked her head in the direction of the restrooms, suggesting he bring the stuff and follow her. Without the Fairest distracting everyone anymore, she wasn't about to perform surgery on the kid in the open lobby. Plus, a sink with running water would be somewhat more sanitary.

Speaking of which, those scissors looked gross. Her knives would be better. Cleaner.

Thus, Sonnie went to the door of the ladies room and waited for the kid to catch up.

This should be simple, right? I'm doing the right thing here, yeah?

I'm just taking someone's kid into a public restroom to do unseemly things to his body, that's all.

Um... let's never say that out loud.

[Titania]

Brave and in equal measure stupid. Certainly most inappropriate, for an adult woman - if Sonnie could be called one - entering a loo with a child who wasn't her own, was something scandalous.
She knows that nothing good would come from it, but again, curiosity is the hallmark of a scientific mind.
"It's not the first time, my dear. Are you sure you shouldn't see a Doctor?", she asks adding peculiar emphasis on the last word.
