Wonderful.

The remnants of habitation are noted along with the distinct grossness that decay of this nature came with. The glass was noted when it was heard, clearly letting the Empire know he was here. With a sigh he continued through the structure.

He was half expecting the gangs Shodan had mentioned, but instead he found some cables. Cables he followed deeper into the building. Cables he followed up the stairs. Cables that.... hummed? Not touching that, but what were they for? Nothing electric was popping out to him and he knew he didn't know enough about science to try and parse through the scientific junk that Forces sight seemed to require.

Oh well, he'd just have too ask the cables directly.

He began to chant as his hands worked their way through the mudras of his rote. His soul reached out across the Abyss to forge a connection to the Aether that was both pure and solid as yellow lines began to trace around the amalgamation at the top of the stairs. The glyph of his spell settled in, rousing the spirit of the cables from it's slumber at the top of the stairs. He checked one more time, looking around for other signs of life before looking to see what his Will had made.

October Kaze and Spark make their way down the street to the old corner store, noting as they do the abrupt shift in the area's appearance around the street corner previously identified for them.
Phoenyx Shodan and living stone were there also, hovering around the entrance to the alley way. The Libertine was engaging the single cop in the parked cruiser - so that meant the second group of Awakened slipped easily into the shop...

The shop was an old convenience store and looked it: worn, battered, packed with overpriced goods (the kind that everyone needed now and then). The cashier was locked inside a very old fashioned - and very stained - protective counter (that had an oddly home-made appearance to it). There was even a very large (and equally old) camera in evidence, watching the aisles with a dispassionate eye.

The proprietor was just as old: worn, brown, shock of white hair encircling his bald pate. His voice was harsh and wheezy, yet seemed to fill the available space. He was talking with a broad shouldered police officer who was buying some snacks and iced tea - and chatting like they were firm friends. The proprietor see's Kaze as he enters and beckons him over - Old Ben is linked to the Obrimos' web of contacts.

"Fancy seeing you here, son."

The cop leaves with his purchases as the mages fan out. October gets a mild acknowledgement as the proprietor turns his full attention on Kaze. Spark actually ends up engaging in conversation - a lanky guy with spectacles gleefully looks up from inspecting various canned vegetables. "You new to the neighbourhood?"

Outside, living stone waits while the Libertine Shodan 'talks' with the cop in the cruiser. The Thyrsus finds a good spot at the mouth of the alley and really looks at the crumbling ruins. The obvious place to start would be the gaping doorway opposite the gap in the fence at the end of the alley. Close to that point, and about a storey up, a pile of crude cabling sprouts from the wall and spills through an open window (Living Stone hopes its a window). This is what Shodan spied before - but Living Stone takes the time for a more careful examination and concludes that this is a relatively new feature; and yes, someone had to knock a hole in the wall to do it. He also notes that for the amount of cabling brazenly sticking out of the building, its not really connected to much at all, which is odd because it looks like someone is using the cabling to cannibalise the power grid.

The cop in the car frowns at Shodan .

"Thats because I'm telling you not to go in there. If you are looking for a short cut head up the street to the new shopping strip and cut through there. Those old buildings? Gangs and vagrants and junkies. They'll rough you up, take your stuff, maybe even worse. I do not want to go in there after you because you think you are smart. Stay safe. Stay out on the street. Just cut through the shopping strip further up if you want to make a short cut, alright?"

He might have said more, had not his broad shouldered buddy emerged from the shop with some drinks and cheap food.

Unless the mages pushed things, the police officers are more interested in their meal than civilians. One cop keeps a wary eye out for trouble.

And while all that is going on, Cosmo successfully Rouses the Spirit of the cabling. He doesn't see it as such but his Sight registers a pulse of numinous energy as the weak spirit comes into existence and the now-awakened cabling flashes with a resonance all of its own (in this case, that initial resonance could be described as... Unreliable). His unseen senses jangle with the close proximity of the freshly created spirit. It occurs to Cosmo that his creation (and it is his creation since it was by his Will and Word that the entity was drawn into existence) is as curious about him, as he is of it.

"New to the city, stopped in to grab a few things. Noticed the odd look of the neighborhood. Almost like it's split down the middle," None of that was technically a lie, though it was skirting the edges of 'truth'. "Is it a quiet neighborhood?"

Phoenyx gives Stone a nod. "I think we are moving on. I cannot see anything worth staying for, but it was worth checking. Now we know a route around the area."

As the First Talon watches the officer levelly, listening to his warning, and then.... Shodan seems to want to criticise the officer for a friendly warning. Law enforcement don't like being told they're stupid, even if it's the truth. Why did Shodan have to talk down to everyone like he was so much smarter than them, especially a cop?

Fortunately, they seem more focused on the food than pressing the issue. Something unknots in the Arrow's chest. "Come on," she says to the others, heading up away from the patrol car.



"We'll move around the block, come in from the other side," she says to Living Stone and Shodan in a low voice.

Nothing blew up and nothing was trying murder him? Neat. Field test number one was off to a wonderful start.

Cosmo noted the pulse but didn't see anything resembling a spirit as he understood them. He wasn't sure how much he could count on the spirit, but that was something he'd rather discern through interaction then gut feelings.

"Hello?" His eyes ran up and down the cables as he searched for the entity, his voice just above a whisper. "I'm Cosmo. Sorry to wake you, but I was hoping we could talk."

Well, since the guy seemed to know Kaze, and she wasn’t really given much mind, she decides to really look around.

Open her eyes to any disturbances around the store or anyone inside. If things were, weird, around the area, no reason not to believe it had affected the people as well.
