No one ever warns you that moving can be so tiring. Well, maybe they do. And even when you've done it multiple times, you can still somehow forget how bad it was the last time. At least Mobius did. But with one final book to place on the shelf, her move was just about complete. Her life's contents, awakened and mundane had fit entirely within 8 cardboard boxes. Not much to show for someone who can bend time and fate to her will. But time was her specialty, and she knew she had plenty more with which to build.

Her new apartment was small, just a living area and one bedroom, but she managed to fit what was necessary. Scattered around her simple decor and furniture, loaded with traditional symbols of what sleepers might call 'new-age' magic, witchcraft, or superstition. Crystals, incense, stones with Scandinavian runes painted on, you name it, you could probably find it there. She knew that most of it was nonsense, but there was a certain charm to the trappings of 'magic' she was familiar with before her awakening. And truth be told, she counted herself buying into the superstition a little bit. She always carried a small bracelet with her, made of tiny stones in different colors. It was her good luck charm, whether she needed it or not.

She pulled the last book out of the box, to put it on her shelf and complete her library once again. She paused for a moment to look at the title, and ran her pointer finger over the spine. It was an old, very worn-in copy of the Tao Te Ching. Her mentor had given it to her when she first went under his wing, to help her with meditative thought, something that was definitely not her forte. She had laughed at him at first, thinking that it was silly to make her read it. She didn't think that anymore.

She didn't put this last book on the shelf, instead she sat it aside on her coffee table. Maybe it was time to return it.

Maybe after one more read.
