Extended Investigation Rolls
Patience departs her meeting with the Reeve and, for the next few nights, goes about the business of stalking her prey. She does little else save for hunt. And heal the few wounds left from her first encounter with Derek.
The address is in Citrus heights. An unsavory neighborhood. The house itself is small, two bedrooms at most. Detached garage. The windows are blacked out, the front entrance has a heavy steel storm door. The front yard is little more than dirt.
Some nights, she parks down the street in Derek's car. Watching, her heightened senses allowing her to stay at a distance and still perceive adequate detail.
Others, she parks a little closer. Opposite the house, a few doors down. She leaves the windows of her car rolled down, her supernaturally keen ears open to any sounds she may pick up from inside the home itself.
Once or twice, in the dead of night, she even passes on foot, trying to see into the overgrown backyard. To get an idea about the house's rear entrance.
She makes note of everything: when the subject comes or goes, if anyone else lives in the home with him, indications of visitors or pets. She examines the windows and doors for signs of reinforcement beyond those immediately apparent. Likewise, she keeps track of the neighbors. Their movements. Whether any are friendly with the target. When things settle down for the night. Who seems to be keeping an eye out.
She watches and waits with the patience of the dead, gathering information. Building the best picture she can of Mr. Mathison's pathetic life. So that she will be ready when the time comes to violently disrupt it.
