(1906) Summers Ascent

Sonnie watched as Reed wandered off to the little boys room, blinking in surprise at his sudden departure. She raised an arm and sniffed at her armpit. Nope, that was fine.

The Beast just shrugged.

"When you gotta go, you gotta go."

Besides, she had shrimp and booz-a-hol. Life was good.

Hello my lovelies, the Summer Solstice/Coronation has been going on for a long while, I'll give this a week to wrap up, and then we can move onto new things

[Reed Mills]

Reed comes reeling back from the bathroom. Much relieved.

He stations himself beside Sonnie once again and gives her a half-drunk grin.

”So, what do you do,” he asks, only slurring a little, “other than, uh, this?”

[Sonnie Wu]

The Beast raised an eyebrow at the return of Reed, who was now clearly sloshed. "Geez, man, what? Did you fall in? You were in the restroom for what felt like a week," she chuckled.

"Well," Sonnie said, musing on her answer a moment, "I am a wealthy European race car driver and heir to a gourmet truffle company. I... left my race scarf in the car." She smiled innocently and ate another shrimp.

[Reed Mills]

The Wizened laughs. It’d taken a while to figure out the automatic soap dispenser.

“Fell in? Sure. Climbed out too. How do I look?” Fully aware he cuts a poor figure indeed.

He listens to her answer and smiles, brown teeth and all.

”You need a special scarf for driving a car? That a European thing?”

"Like you live in a garden," Sonnie replied, nonchalantly, to the Wizened.

Then she shrugged, "Yes, it's a French thing, or whatever. Ooo la la."

The Beast laughed before taking a drink, "And what is it you do, good sir? Work the stock market? Hunt bounties across state lines? Herd sheep?" Her ideas were rather random.

[Circe]

"Hiya folks! I got bored with the pellet shots, thinkin' maybe tequila shots. What are the two of ya up ta?" Circe cheerfully interrupts as she pops on in. Apparently the gun bunny somehow managed to get bored at a gun range.


Well to Circe it felt like she'd been doing the same thing for weeks with no change over there.

[Reed Mills]

Sleep in a garden? That one hits close to home. Or his former home in any case.

”Used to,” he replies, trying to sound nonchalant. Though he can’t quite suppress a downward tug at the corners of his mouth, the beginnings of a frown. Gone as quickly as it starts to appear.

”Now I have a shitty apartment.” That crooked smile again.

”Still work in gardens, though. Well, yards. Landscaping, all that.”

Reed gives a little start when Circe suddenly appears.

“Whoa, uh, yeah—tequila sounds right to me,” the thought of more booze helping him to compose himself.

”We’re just getting to know each other. Reed, by the way,” he holds out his hand to Circe.

"Heya, Smurfette! Just chattin' with Reed Richards here," she smiled at her Summer friend. "How'd you do reppin' the Crimson in target shooting?"

The Beast turned her eyes back to the Wizened, "Oh, cool. You, like, plant trees and stuff? I heard if we plant like eight billion trees, it'll... um... do something. Offset carbon dioxide, I think. Or was it eight million?" she shrugged. She could probably google it later.

"Oh, right. Reed, this is Circe, former Summer Queen and my chief rival on the European racing circuit," she said, helping introductions along. Sort of.

[Circe]

"Sup Reed, welcome ta Summer's party. Imma," she points at Sonnie as a partial nickname comes up, "Yeah that! But with Gunbunny in front of it Sonny. Also know as Circe," she shakes Reed's hand, "Welcome aboard."

As for the Beast's question, that got a giggle as seh lets Reed's hand free. "Sonny extra sweet Sonny, of course I shined like the sun! I know how ta shoot. They," she points back at the range, "Don't. I was hittin' more with a pop pistol then they were with a pop rifle!" Boasting but Circe doubted Sonny paid enough attention. The part about racing causes Circe to briefly make an expression that called for a question mark before tilting her head with a smile, "Indeed! Though," she sighs as she turns to Reed, "She doesn't agree ta make it a spectator participation sport. Sidewalks should be short cuts!" Circe turns her black and red eyes upon Sonnie, "Or were ya talkin' about other engine reving activities?"
