"The pomegranate is particularly special," he acknowledged aloud. "I'm sure each of you is familiar with Persephone, Hades and Demeter?" He allowed for a pause.

"Our wheat fields are a symbolic gesture to Demeter as the goddess of grain. She is also known as a "Law-Bringer", as a mark of the civilized existence of agricultural society. Part of that civilized behavior is that, here on the Farm, all are welcome so long as we keep any disruptions to a minimum."

This was not Vivian's show, this wasn't a time to cause a spectacle. So the Deava quietly watched and listened, following when asked or invited. It was a privilege for the Domain to have the Acolytes invite them to an open celebration. She was glad that the Crone obliged her request.

Listening to the way Krieg explained the ways of Old gods, reminder her of a particular television series as of late. The Old Gods and the New Gods was more relative in this time than the show realized. Still, she quietly ticked away question she would ask later, and paid close attention, even though glancing to Jacque here and there.

Mable lays a hand on Thomas's shoulder and leans close to his ear, "I'm heading out back." She whispers.

Then she goes over to Krieg. Smiling softly she takes his hand and gives it a squeeze, "See you in a few minutes." She lets go and heads to the back.

    "Please everyone. Enjoy the gardens."

Once in the back patio she goes over to the alter she made for the ceremony. She hears a raven caw above her... She begins her preparations.

In the back patio was a wooden stump encircled by colorfulstones. Flowers were laid upon the alter. A candle sat in the center, flickering a warm light.

A simple bowl sat next to the candle. It contained salt andsome aromatics such as crushed balsam.

Mable laid the flowers from Atticus on the table near the alter.

"I will begin the ceremony now. Thank you all for coming and joining in the celebration."
Mable then turned towards the alter.

“I call upon Gaia the original MotherEarth, who symbolizes nature, fertility, and creation. Creation is Power. Ithank you for your inspiration and guidance.” She sprinkles the scented saltonto the candle. And bows her head for a moment. “Thank you for the bounty ofnature and the fertility of the soil. We celebrate tonight in your honor.”Mable sprinkles the salt once more.

A raven, that had been circling over head lands on a branch over Mable and drops a small stone from it's beak. it lands on the stump and bounces to the ground. Mable bends and picks it up. Looking up at the bird, "Thank you for gracing us with your presence." She places the stone next to the candle.

Mable turns to the group. “One of the great myths we celebratein May is the return of the goddess Persephone from the underworld. She is associatedwith the fresh new upshoots of flowers and crops. Legend says that Persephonewas gathering flowers with the Oceanids along with Artemis and Athena in afield when Hades came to abduct her. Demeter, her mother, searched for her allover the earth with Hecate's torches. Demeter neglects the earth and in thedepth of her despair she causes nothing to grow. Helios, the sun, who seeseverything, eventually told Demeter what had happened and at length shediscovered the place of her abode. Finally, Zeus, pressed by the cries of thehungry people and by the other deities who also heard their anguish, forcedHades to return Persephone. Hades complies with the request, but first hetricked Persephone, giving her some pomegranate seeds to eat. Because she hadtasted food in the underworld, she was obliged to spend half the year in theunderworld with Hades."

“To honor Persephone, we will be blessing a pomegranate shrubtonight. Thomas and Krieg would you both please join me.”

At Mable's request to relocate, Jacque quietly took Vivian's arm, loosely hooking at the elbows and walked with her to the back of the house. The raven was particularly interesting. Mable was so unsurprised at the gesture that he was curious if it was a trained pet for the ceremony or just a frequent visitor of the farm. A question to revisit later in the evening.

He listened carefully and became teeming with even more questions about the overlapping of the Circle's Gods and the Greek Pantheon, but held his tongue for now as the ritual seemed to be continuing and he did not wish to be rude.

For once, Thomas stays silent as he follows Mable to the altar and stands by her side. The Ventrue divides his attention between the guests and the hostess, retelling a story. Of course, when tongue has nothing to do, mind wanders...

Gods. They could be so capricious, throwing tantrums like children, constantly trying to outmaneuver the others or pull rank. And yet, theirs was power and wisdom, or so the story goes. The parallels to vampires were difficult to overlook.

But for now, Thomas stays silent.

With her arm in Jacque's, they moved to where Mable was holding the next part of the evening. She was a little confused in how the Beltane was handled. Although, her only experience with the Crone was what Wooding had taught her previously. Even though there were many things that came to mind, she waited and watched in silence with a pleasant smile on her face.

Still, there were other things in her mind lurking, like the other side of Beltane. The eve of all things between lovers, what the Goddess of Fertility would bring about. It was something she watched on the Mists of Avalon years ago, and even though the tale was simply that, a tale, there were many things that she appreciated about those tales.

Atticus finds a wall and leans against it. He couldn't help it, he was enjoying this speech. Mable told a good story. Atticus looks around, Gods and monsters, pretty funny.

Taking a seat on a stone bench, Ellis took in the ritual silently and respectfully. He enjoyed theater of it, the stump-altar, colorful stones, the flowers and the bowl. It was all very bohemian. Even though it was, so far, only a simple retelling of the Persephone myth. He could see the parallels with their condition, he supposed. Though he wondered when, or even if, he would see or hear something that was more directly associated with... well any sort of ancient pagan vampire mythology?

When Mable calls forward Thomas and Krieg to bless a shrub, Ellis naturally assumes it's going to involve a knife and the sprinkling of vitae over the plant. He looks on and steels himself against the stir of his hunger. It would not be a strong one, he was doing reasonably well for himself, but the hunger was never something you should underestimate.

The green giant man dressed as the Horned God, surveys the crowd who in attendance. He nodded in approval of the assembly. The Goddess would be pleased tonight. They may not share their faith, but, they were now participants, even if passively at the moment.

He steps slowly, one large foot fall at a time to stand opposite of Thomas, at Mable's side.
