Blue Birds

[Sonnie Wu]

Sonnie sat up as the Bright One appeared, and she could only grin from ear to ear at the sight of the safari outfit. A snap of her fingers and all the dropped grapes vanished, cleaning up the room in an instant. She hopped to her feet and held her arms wide, welcoming Titania to her personal dreamscape.

"Good of you to come! Always an honor to have the famed explorer Britannia Jones in my humble brain!" she giggled and scooped up her staff, only to lean upon it.

"So, I was thinking, maybe we can find my memory of the library. It's gotta be here somewhere, and it's probably easier than trekking out into the skien. Does that sound... wait, dinosaurs?"

Confused, Sonnie blinked her eyes and looked around the vast treehouse.

"You've lost me, Starlight. What dinosaurs? I'm pretty sure I'd remember having memories of dinosaurs."

[Titania]

She tilted her head to the side, studying the monkey for a length. Why was she lying? Could it be that the monkey was embarrassed of her pet Sauropods?
That explained why she had put them behind locked doors. What a strange beast she is! Whatever. She dug the spoon into the cup for another scoop of ice-cream, not before having offered one to the Monkey of course.
Still, her gaze kept wandering to those two doors, the noises coming through were hard to ignore even for the wisps that by now almost crowded the entrance. "Rather, we should be on the lookout for scary libraries. We're trying to summon a Lord of Dread after all. And what's scarier than literary works about large Saurian creatures?" She pointed the silver spoon at the closed doors, then she spoke. "Very scary, indeed"

The Beast's gaze followed Titania's spoon-pointing towards the barred doors, and she immediately looked away, like a reflex. Her expression soured as she avoided looking at that darkened corner. With a shake of her head, she refused the offer of ice cream, quite out-of-character for her. Too disturbed to eat, even in a dream-state.

Her voice was subdued, "Um, no. Not that door. It's... I can't get in there, anyway. I don't remember much of anything about my time there. It was... it was a bad time."

Sonnie started towards a set of stairs leading up to the next floor, and she made an effort to put the chipper back in her voice, "So, come on! I still think my memories of the library are a good place to start. There's doors up here I haven't even seen yet! Maybe I'll find that time I a sick flip on my mountain bike! Or that time I ate the best burrito ever made!"

[Titania]

She looks unconvinced. First she said she couldn't remember much, then she amended her statement by declaring the door hid bad memories. As a Fairest, and a Spring Courtier, she knew that the promise of future endeavors was the only certified way to treat bad memories. Alas, she couldn't help but think that the monkey was an atrocious liar. Elementary after all, monkeys are by their own nature mischievous creatures. It didn't explain away the noises, but again it was Sonja's dreamscape, further inquiries would have been very bad form on her part.
No dinosaurs for now, she deflated. But at least they could explore the jungle, just a little bit, right? "Maybe there's a secret library hidden away in the jungle", she went for the window and looked expectantly outside.

Sonnie blinked, then shrugged and joined the Bright One at the window. So long as Titania left the door to her Durance alone, the Beast was satisfied. She wasn't ready to confront anything in there, even if she could open the damn thing.

Outside, one could see that the treehouse was very high up. The tree it was built upon must have been ten stories high. The rainforest, lush and beautiful, spread out below like a thick green blanket, extending infinitely into the distance in all directions. Above, the sky was clear blue and the sun was shining brightly. The cries of monkeys and jungle birds echoed from all directions, along with occasional roar of a what must have been a large cat.

"Out there? I dunno. I've never been down to the jungle floor before, but there is a rope ladder on the first floor. A really long one." She looked at Titania curiously, and smiled, "You just wanna roam around the jungle, don't you? It's my dream, so it should be perfectly safe. I supooooooose we could take a look..." she teased.

[Titania]

She's listening, but she's not really "LISTENING". Her mind floating high between the clouds, fantasizing about the adventures to come. Luckily the freezing cold of the ice-cream shocks her awake. "Oww".
"You haven't explored?", her eyes widened in amazement. What just did the monkey do in her sleep, then?
"Doesn't that mean, this is virgin, unclaimed land?", if so, they could claim it for the British Crown. Governorship and riches beyond dreams awaited them.
"Let's go. Do you think we'll find any dragons?"

[Sonnie Wu]

"I usually have plenty of stuff up here to keep me busy. Just... stuff," she said innocently, very much not looking towards the 'SEXY STUFF' door. After clearing her throat, Sonnie turned and headed towards a set of stairs leading to a lower floor. "Come on, then, Alanna Quartermain, let's head on down. Our elephant mounts will be waiting!"

On the lower floor was more of the same. Plush cushions, random platters of food, arcade cabinets, a set of monkey bars. More doors, labeled with titles such as 'BEST TACO TRUCK,' 'THAT ONE WEIRD GUY WITH THE EYE THING,' and 'THE TIME I DID A ONE-HANDED PUSH-UP AND IT TOTALLY COUNTED SO SHUT UP STEVE.'

There was a hole in the floor, circular, and with a sign hanging over it that read 'To the Rain Forest - Please Watch Your Step. This Means You, Titania' which included a red wooden arrow pointing down.

Unceremoniously, Sonnie jumped into the hole and disappeared. Looking down, one would see her now on the aforementioned rope ladder, holding on with a casual but strong grip. She waved up at the Fairest with an excited smile. "It's only a little windy today! Perfectly fine! C'mon!"

The ladder was ridiculously long, and stretched all the way down, nearly ten stories, to the jungle canopy before vanishing into the foliage. It swayed unnervingly in the wind.

[Titania]

She happily rallied behind the monkey, stopping from time to time to take a read of the different stop-signs mounted atop the doors. When Cheeta bolted headfirst though the hole, she gasped audibly. "A...are you alright?", she asked, then she mounted the ladder herself.

Sonja hung on the rope ladder in a relaxed manner, "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" The Beast clearly had zero fear of heights. It shouldn't be surprising, if one remembered monkeys preferred heights. The trees were where food and safety were located, after all. Sonnie liked being high.

Sonnie started descending the ladder, but she continually checked on Titania's progress, moving slower than she normally would so the Bright One could keep pace, "And don't worry, I'll catch you if you fall. Probably. Maybe."

[Titania]

She looks down on the monkey beneath her, ready to spring and catch her if she let go. On that interminable ladder she was sure they looked like ants clinging for their dear lives against the fluctuations of the wind. She grins, it was time for payback.
"I really hope you will, my dear", she says with a carefully studied intonation, "you were there with me, after all, when the King said in no uncertain terms that should you die in your dreams-cape, your teeth will rot. That's the price for defying the Tooth Fairy in her realm. I really care for my dental hygiene", she recited feigning concern.
