Blue Birds

[Sonnie Wu]

Sonnie sat there for a few moments, watching Titania's blanket-covered figure with a curious expression. Deciding not to aggravate the Fairest any further, she lay down. Her tail, though, scooped up the thrown pillow and she proceeded to use it for it's proper purpose.

[Titania]

It's not that she can't sleep, it's just that she's worried about whether they'll be able to meet in the dreamscape at all. They aren't, after all, as proficient as the Autumn King is. There's another HUGE complication, and it wholly resides within the boundaries of her mind. You see, for somebody as shy and as privacy conscious as the Fairest, letting a monkey in, especially one as curious as Sonja, poses a huge risk. So she speaks.
"Are you awake?", she asks, "hmm, I can't sleep", she lies.

[Sonnie Wu]

Sonnie didn't respond for a moment, but when she did, it involved her rolling over to look at the Bright One from an intimate distance, "I have no warm milk, sorry. What's up?"

[Titania]

"Nevermind", she says turning around, then a minute later, "I... I was just thinking", she sounds hesitant, "my dreams are set in England. As a matter of proximity, reaching the Autumn King would be much easier if done from yours, since you're an American", there was a logic behind those words, even though it wasn't her primary motivation. "So, for the sake of expediency, we really should start our exploration from yours."

When Titania turned away, Sonnie's reaction was to roll her eyes and turn over to stare at the ceiling, but then the Telluric started speaking again, and the Steepscrambler didn't begrudge the continuation.

"Hmmm..." she pondered the proposed theory. Something about it didn't sound quite right, but she didn't know what. Sonnie was no expert on how dream travel worked. Her experience was still limited. "I... suppose? But can I trust you to behave yourself in my head? A girl's gotta have secrets, you know. You're not getting my chili recipe. That goes with me to my grave."

Despite her joke, she seemed perfectly serious.

[Titania]

"I promise", she vows solemnly, "Not that your recipes would be worth stealing", she teases with a grin, "after that pizza. Yuck!", she giggles.
"So, where are we going?"

[Sonnie Wu]

Sonnie took her time to ponder that question, steepling her fingers over her chest as she continued to gaze at the ceiling of the tavern. "Hmm. Like, in my head? I dunno. I can whip something together. We won't be staying there long, right? You wanna go find a copy of Rhodes' library. I'll go set up my... uh... dreamscape thing."

The Beast laid her head back and closed her eyes.

"And you'll pay for that crack about the pizza later, Missy," she added, keeping her eyes shut, but showing a smirk.

After a few moments, Sonnie appeared to be asleep. Animals, they could nap so easily.

[Titania]

"Don't snore", she giggles and a few moments later she falls asleep.

What did the inside of Sonja Wu's head look like? Would her dreamscape be an accurate representation of her mental state, or would she alter things to make it more presentable? It was hard to tell, really. What Titania would find could be either, or maybe a bit of both.

A treehouse. A massive, multi-floored treehouse. It felt like a mansion, in truth, just one built on and around an enormous tree. The wooden structure was solid and beautiful. The wood looked rare and dense, the rooms spacious, the floors polished. Out the numerous windows, one could see a lush rainforest environment, and hear the white noise of wildlife in the distance. The cries of macaws and other jungle birds, mostly, but the whooping of monkeys could be discerned.

The furniture was designed for comfort, and among the chairs and sofas there was a tire swing. The entire environment smelled of fresh rain, cool spring breezes and, faintly, delicious foods. The odors brought a sense of relaxation.

The doors. There were numerous closed doors throughout the complex, each labeled in a script reminiscent of Chinese writing.

YUMMY FOODS, read the sign on one such door, and it was from here those saliva-inducing smells originated.

FAMILY, read another, though this door carried a sense of loss or loneliness.

VIDEO GAMES, stated the door from which one could faintly hear the theme tune of The Legend of Zelda.

POP CULTURE REFERENCES. This door seemed well-used. Not surprising.

SEXY STUFF, one could almost hear the sound of a woman moaning in pleasure, or perhaps one imagined that.

KUNG FU, PARKOUR, MOVIES, HIGH SCHOOL, TV, DANCING, CHILDHOOD, SAN FRANCISCO, SACRAMENTO, PRIMATES, FREEHOLD. The doors seemed endless. By now, it was obvious each door held Sonnie's memories or experiences behind them, instances she could revisit as she pleased.

One door, marked curiously as THE SCREAMING JUNGLE, appeared to be locked and barred with heavy chains and slide bolts, and it sat in a far-off, dark corner. Unlike many other doors, no sounds emanated from it. Just an eerie, dead silence. Strange, given the label. Even sealed as it was, merely looking at it gave one the paranoid sense of being watched. Or hunted.

Well away from that unsettling door, Sonnie lounged on one of the plush couches, patiently waiting for Titania to arrive. Her staff leaned against the couch's arm, though rather than simple wood, it was metal and elaborately detailed in a Chinese style. Indeed, her clothing had changed to look like the battle outfit of some sort of mythological Asian warrior, done up in reds and golds. If one knew anything about Chinese folktales, her costume was strongly similar to the regalia of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King.

Sonnie seemed to be passing the time by tossing grapes into the air and catching them in her mouth. Her success rate was maybe 50%, given the number of grapes on the floor. But her supply, a bowl filled with the green and purple fruits, seemed infinite.

She materializes a few minutes behindhand, the reasons of her tardiness soon explained by the huge cup of chocolate chips mint flavoured sorbet in her hands. She had taken a detour to another dream apparently. At least, she brought two silver spoons with her.
But it's the perfectly matched safari outfit that without doubt identifies the woman for a consummate cosplayer. A brown safari straw hat rests atop her hair, a set of large butterfly shades cover her eyes while a kente woven scarf dangles from her neck, the ethnic fabric is marred with wax prints of cute monkeys in cheerful pastel tones. To complete the set, a white long-sleeved shirt, a brown sleeveless leather jacket, knee long leather boots and a pair of highly practical light brown safari pants. A leather belt is tightly tied around her waist.
She flings the printed shoulder bag across her arm, her court of wisps barely holding back their laughter. Overall, she looks like a foolhardy although gorgeous version of Indiana Jones. That's it, if Indiana Jones was a cute idiot. "Oh, this is so pretty", she claps her hands, awestruck by the sight of the lush forest and the chirping of tropical birds, careful to not spill the cup, "Marvelous, thanks for having me. I hope I'm not intruding", she performs a cute bow.
Sonnie's dreams were a perfect playground for the Fairest; brimming with life, the forest was a pulsating swerve of lush greenery.
Who knew how many rare and wondrous plants inhabited the undefined boundaries of the unruly psyche of a Beast? No doubt the jungle brimmed with indigenous lifeforms awaiting to be discovered and be plucked by a civilized hand.
Soon some of her wisps are drawn by the doors. Curious that one is tightly shut, even more curious that the other seems to be alive and producing a cacophony of noises . Her gaze shifts to the monkey in askance, her mouth wide open by the stupor, "Don't tell me, this is the dinosaurs' mating season?", she lets out an overexcited cheer, "YES!", she yelps. And she barely restrains herself, because she's a lady of high station and it's not proper to rush somebody else's home without an invitation, even though she'd just love to swing the door open and steal a peek of the dinos. Not that they would matter, lizards don't understand privacy, right?
