The Guardian studies his surroundings. He can count only two of them, if there are more, they're probably hidden. As the Ladder does the talking, he advances, stopping by the campfire. His posture is relaxed, he acknowledges the man's suspicious movement.
His hand produces a cigarette pack from his pocket, he slips one - lit - between his lips, pushing the pack close with the back of his hand, then he speaks.
"Relax, he's telling the truth. We have no reason to pick a fight. Rather, we're here to ask for a favor. Which I assure you, we are more than willing to repay", he says, his eyes glued to the campfire, inhaling the aroma of the cooked food.

Sandra. That was a name that Alastor filed away in his mind, something to work with later on. He spread his fingers casually, the covert rote's Mudra as he called down the Supernal to allow him to view the connections between these two and this area. What mattered to them? How did they connect to each other? And was there a link between them and anything of import in this place? As the lines of spatial sympathy began to form in his vision, the Mastigos sought answers. Others would do the talking. Others would figure out who Sandra was.

After all, staying incognito was key here. He'd seen her before. He didn't need them recognizing him and getting spooked.

Experienced eyes flicked from line to line, seeking intelligence they could take action on.

Eyes move from the women as she speaks, and Winter responds, onto the man who's reaching for something. Forcing back a frown Langdon just watches the man. Hoping he's not reaching for anything dangerous. Disintegrating a gun wouldn't help these negotiations alone.

So the Moros waits and watches. Hopefully this will be a largely academic endeavor.

"I get that, and we're sorry for the surprise visit, but it's like he said," nodding his head towards Winter, "we want to work out a deal." Juris then turned towards the man, confusion on Juris' face. "Who's Sandra? I don't know who this Sandra is and she didn't send us." As he spoke Juris reached out to the Supernal and attempted to form a telepathic connection with the man. He didn't plan on speaking through it, but he wanted to hear the man's conscious thoughts, hopefully to give Juris some clue to the man's thinking. Of course the abyss didn't like his attempt to do what should not be possible and he could feel the searing pain along his side as the abyss struck back.

I didn't know if they were considered Sleepers, so I rolled 3 just in case. If they are then Juris will absorb the damage as one resistant bashing and it'll subtract one success from the roll. If they are not considered Sleepers then I'm I'm still at 2 successes after contagion but with no paradox. Please correct me if I'm wrong Yumyumcrow .

Alastor vision shifts. Glowing lines of varying thicknesses and vibrations appear, snaking around and over... everything. Everything has a trace connection and it takes the Arrow a few moments to reorient his senses and filter out that which does not interest him. There is a strong sympathetic connection between the man and the woman, the depth of the connection stronger than almost anything else (the woman has an even stronger connection to the land, or perhaps the property, but the Arrow doesn't quite know how far the connection goes without further analysis). Surprisingly, the man has only a weak connection to the caravan but Alastor can sense that there are things inside the caravan to which the fellow has a deeper tie. Both man and woman have a moderate tie to the house on the land and a strong connection to another person (presumably the third part of the trio who is reasonably close by). A series of strong connections arch back toward Sacramento; some moderate and weak connections head to in the direction of other compass points. A powerful but shallow connection heads north-east.
Juris stretches out his mind. Resistance is met and he simply washes over it as if they were helpless Sleepers. The mage's brief connection is enough to confirm that they are not Sleepers. Not when the man is suppressing a sudden desire to simply fly the hell out of there and the woman feels like her hunting ground has been violated. Somehow. The suspicion is thick from both of them, though the man's curiosity has been piqued by Winter's offer of a favour.

"Not Sandra?" The woman repeats, her voice tinged by a certain relief. "More friends of Miriam?" Her voice hardens again and her eyes twitch.

"Favour? Whats this about favour?" The man blurts out, hovering from his position inside the caravan. As soon as the words tumble from his mouth he grimaces, tilts his head to one side and inspects the woman curiously.

"We should at least hear them out, Simone."

"Why Bobby? We got our own problems."

"We need all the favours we can get. Maybe they can help with our problems?" Fight and flight and the desire to wheel and feel oozed across the telepathic link to Juris.

There they were. The lines that connected people, their loves, their hates and that which mattered most to them. Alastor sorted through them mentally, tracing them through shaded eyes as he saw all of the lines of their lives.

Two in particular attracted his attention - the connection between them and the other person in their trio, and the powerful, but shallow connection heading north-east. For those with Mage Sight, the world seemed to bend inward toward the Unchained as he pulled on the seams of reality, pushing back the Abyss with Mana. His Imago overlaying those two connections onto his own web, duplicating them -- yes, there it was...

Then, a covert working as he allowed himself to look around corners, an easy working mastered by the youngest of Mastigoi. Following the lines from the man to the items inside that he cared most about, his angled gaze worked...

They had planted the seed of curiosity within one of them, now it was all about growing it, let it take root not to drive a wedge but to ensnare.
"Soon it will get poisonous, you know?", he interrupts his silence, then he takes another drag from the cigarette, "It starts with the little things. Insects, the crops, small animals. Then it pollutes the water. In the end, the metastases will reach the humans, and not too long afterwards the whole environment is twisted beyond recognition. This is the endgame the one you've been asked to spy on is working toward. It isn't in your best interest to let it go on, is it?", he motions to Juris to continue, "the Abyss, we call it"
