Rites and Pacts

[Emily Makerith]

Emily watches the spirit. The amalgam of glass, wires and feathers was beautiful in a creepy kind of way. And Nate was actually pretty good at this. He wasn't doing a traditional chant, but he want speaking in some kind of rhythm.

It's like he's doing poetry or something. Still, it sounds pretty good.

Reel him in, kiddo.

[Kelreth]

Six eyes look intently at Brigit before moving onto Hector and Matt as the Crescent speaks. Eyes-with-Wings shifts to peck at the offerings once again.

<<Challenge. Test. Yes yes.>> Feathers and wires ruffle as Eyes-with-Wings shifts to look at the coffee circle around it. Seemingly unconcerned about the Wolves around it.

It's first question. <<My. Name.>> Eyes flicker as it asks the question. It knows, all Spirits know of the Crescents.

A mirrored talon rises to point at Nathaniel. <<Secret.>> Then points it at Emily as well.

[Nathaniel Dormur]

Nathaniel nods to his pack-sister, Emily, deferring to her.

<<My sister knows more/ She sees what I yet can not/ Knows what I do not>>

He didn't know how to figure out the spirit's name, not yet- he had planned to set aside time to learn. Luckily, such was the benefit of having two crescents. He had no issue proclaiming his lack of knowledge; he was obviously young.

This may have been a leap of faith, but he knew enough about a crescent's gifts that, if Emily worked with spirits, she had likely progressed further in their tribal gifts. It was a safe bet that Emily knew- and hopefully the young pup had distracted the spirit's eyes enough that any attempt to read information was not taken with offense.

[Matt Joule]

Matt is silent, even vaguely respectful, though he looks uneasy at the ambiguous 'test' talk.

[Emily Makerith]

Test, huh? That makes sense.

Emily can't help but smile. She gives Nathaniel a cheeky wink.

<<The Ithilumin have given their wisdom. You are the one named Eyes-with-Wings.>>

[Brigit]

Brigit remained stoic and silent as the negotiations continued. There was nothing to add and frankly she wasn't the ritemaster.

Still, the concept of a test by the spirit was intriguing and her form bristled lightly with a sense of anticipation as she pondered what the spirit would ask next now that it's name was revealed. Deep within, she knew it was well within the realms of probability that the questions would likely not fall to her, but she would be ready if needed.

[Hector]

Hector is breathing carefully through his nose and mouth.

This is very much the Ithaeur's show and the Cahalith does not want to stand in their way.

[Kelreth]

Six eyes blink in perfect unison as the elder Crescent speaks its name. <<Yes yes. Eyes-with-Wings.>> It flutters its wings as it looks between the Crescents.

Then the spirit stills as it looks over the pack. <<Secrets. Secrets.>> <<What Seek Luna's Children?>> Eyes-with-Wings remains still for a heartbeat before pecking at the coffee grounds yet again. Hints of wires and metal glisten across its back.

[Emily Makerith]

Emily watches the spirit peck at the coffee grounds.

<<We seek the Ashnega. They have returned to these wilds. They will hunt the Gaffling and Jagglings of this land, and bind those they do not hunt. We cannot see all. We ask for your watchfulness, that we might find them. We offer you strength in trade.>>

It was stiff, and formal. But Spirits needed clarity and simplicity. And Dammit, she was good at her job.

[Kelreth]

The spirit stills as the elder Crescent speaks. Then shifts on its legs, back and forth, before bobbing its head.

<<Yes Yes>>

Six eyes look intently at Emily. In fact they don't even bother to blink.

<<Strength. Knowledge. Secrets.>> It shuffles and looks at the pack one by one, you all get the impression that if it was a bit more animal it might huff a bit. <<Knowledge. Secrets.>>

Then finally it finds the right concept. <<Price! Yes. Secrets>>
