Kindred politics at their finest. The desire to grandstand. The urge of the rabble to bandwagon. The quickness in which the mood could shift and change. Rebecca found it all so amusing. Her eyes shifted to the unknown Gangrel ( Madcap ). She listened, calmly to his warning. "I will take your advice under advisement. But you are correct. You are new here." So new Rebecca didn't even know the man's name.

Then Thomas took up her call for direct confrontation and went with it. She watched, a smile resting on her face. Oh how he seemed so...disingenuous in his confrontation. She wondered the benefit he gained by trying to sit on his high horse when she knew he was just as dirty as the rest of them.

But before she could reply the Prince and Lina spoke up. She watched, unmoving, as the Prince stopped all discussion for the moment and focused not on Rebecca, but on Lina. Based on the Prince's words Rebecca did not expect that she would come out of this whole situation unscathed, but for the moment it seemed as if the Prince's bigger issue was not torture, but on the repeated disruption of her court by the Sheriff. And in response Lina attempted to humble herself by offering her resignation as a sign of deference. What an interesting development.

Soon after the words had been spoke Jacque stepped up to reveal that he had been the correct choice for Whip. He went ahead, attempting to put Thomas in his place over his lack of loyalty and unity,, as well as his clear misunderstanding of scientific research. It seemed that out of the two scientists Jacque had mind much more similar to Rebecca's.

Then Rebecca's eyes shifted to Garrett as he spoke up, and soon after Arturo presented a 'discussion'. Looking to Garrett and Thomas she said, "As you put it Mr. Prosper, the Harpy can 'encourage specific behavior and habits in the culture of a Court'. Well, Her Majesty has spoken. I think it's been made clear that this is not a discussion to be continued in public, let alone in open court. Should either of you wish to talk to me further about the topic, I will be happy to oblige later. In fact I look forward to it. But I will not continue it now, and it would be wise for others to do the same." With her words said she nodded to Arturo and said, "Quite right Mr. Garcia, though we should just step to the side for now instead of my office." Rebecca wanted to make sure she was still available should the battle rage on.

Mable was satisfied that her conversation with Garrett had gone well. She didn't press for a final answer. They could discuss more later. For now court was becoming a hotbed of activity and for once, she was not the cause.

For now Mable watched what was happening with interest and concern.

So the conversation wasn’t done. That was fine, she wasn’t done.

“A question asked without you knowing the facts, a question that has caused unrest and possibly untrust among the Domain. You could have approached me and asked me personally for more information regarding the statement made, but instead, you drew the attention of everyone to it. I understand the concern, and will be addressing it with Harpy Simmons personally. A Kindred too in touch with their Beast is a danger, and the situation needs to handled. And it will.” By her. “Casual torture for shits and giggles will not be tolerated.” That was a fact.

Really, resign as a way to prove she wasn’t usurping?

“No. I do not accept. You have proven yourself to be very capable and efficient in handling the threats that appear. No one can question your effectiveness as Sheriff. And no one is.” That was that.

“As this was the second time of you disrupting Formal Court, that needs to be addressed. As does your coming to me advising me of demands a Priscus made on a Dragon, commands that I found out later, were not true. What you said was an attempt to add fuel to an existing fire. Until such a time that I am confident that our visions align, you will no longer represent my interests in Florin. Though the Dragons are welcome to remain there, but not hunt.” They had their Chapter House there, no sense in disrupting that. Unless she had to.

“Harpy Simmons, I had better not hear any mention from you, or anyone else about the torture of Kindred or Kine for the fun of it. Any prisoners we may take in for questioning, will be questioned with me, or someone of my choosing there to witness. I will be made aware immediately to anyone being brought in for questioning. Disobeying my orders will have dire consequences for you and your place within my Domain. This is not open for debate, and this will be enforced.” Her tone hard and to the point. “You being my Harpy does not place you above my Laws or my orders, do not forget that.”

Seemed more wanted to add their two cents to this matter. But she had to give the Lord credit, he had balls.

It was intriguing to her how attitudes seemed to change in the room. One minute they were backing Lina, showing how shocked and disgusted they were. The next? Back peddling.

Addressing what was being said, by any other than Lina or Rebecca wasn’t going to happen. Yet. Everyone was entitled to feel how they wanted.

But then there was Arturo.

Dark eyes snap to him, she saw the hand on Rebecca’s shoulder, “Considering the tension right now, it is not wise to touch a member of my Court.” the edge creeping slowly into her voice. “Consider that your first, and final warning.” The tone caused Cain to stand, his attention now drawn to Arturo.

As the Seneschal, Vivian had a place in the Domain. If Ale had wanted her opinion or to chime in, she would have. But, she wasn't called upon to do so. Therefore, she sat and listened to all that unfolded. All the while mentally ticking up some things into her memory for later.

Her eyes were on each person as they had chose to speak their opinions and open their mouths, some in utter stupidity.

Ale's address to all made Vivian's eyes shine with pride. She truly knew what was what. Hopefully no one would continue with any outbursts going forward, but the Daeva would keep a watchful eye out and an ear open wider than normal.

A long slow nod was given to the Prince before she gave a bow of her head to Twist who appeared. She wasn't sure if she was there the whole time, or she just arrived. Either way, it was good to see her. "Your Majesty, please let me know if you need anything." Nodding, and then turning back to the conversation, but Ale was still in her peripheral.

As Rebecca Simmons voices the want for later discussion, Prosper's razor-thin smile splits to show teeth. Several responses are bit down, his head roaring about the blurring of scientific method to feed the Beast, and the eerie testing of Kine and Kindred echoing a certain officer's application of Völkisch. Eduard Wirths would be singing praise for her devotion to Dominance.

Dilated eyes track Arturo Garcia as the Ventrue nods to him. He notes Thomas Boyle 's accurate assessment of Rebecca's observation being tainted by bias. At least some between them have some fucking tact.

The irony of a chemist telling a room full of Terror specialists that they were soft for recognizing the Beast, while her corpse-like pallor endangered the Masquerade. Orders were orders, but he wouldn't be surprised if she suggested gleeful torture under the guise of devotion to the Domain. Kindred were naive to mistake basic survival instincts for a bleeding heart.

As Alessandra Antinori takes back control, his attention flicks to Lina Moretti .

A public shaming was her reasserting her authority, and he reminded himself of that fact as his lip twitched at the announcement of the Dragons losing their feeding rights. She still holds true to her ideals of meritocracy.

She addresses her Domain's immediate concerns, and smoothly corrects Simmon's asinine implication that her behaviour was supported by the Prince. The Lord's attempt to deescalate is misinterpreted, but his predatory nature was so damn obvious it was hard to see the gesture as a shield for the Ventrue Priscus. It would be interesting if she continued with the title with her Clan so allergic to scandal.

He mouths a 'thank you ' to Antinori before turning back to the original conversation. If she still wanted to speak with him after she was done, she had acknowledged his signal earlier in the evening. The Prince can do whatever the fuck she wants.

The Sheriff nodded an acknowledgment to Alessandra's remarks. The Prince had dealt with the major issue. Whatever she was referring to about an untruth on her part, Lina would figure out later. Based on the clues built into what the Prince had said, it wouldn't be a tough investigation.

"Roger that, ma'am. Thank you for addressing my concern. I'll get you your next report shortly."

The Grand Wyrm bowed, and that was that. The Prince had apparently taken her advice. Carrot... and stick. Good for her.

Garrett's trained eye found no resistance from Moretti. Where before there had been concern about the Harpy's proclivities, he found some of what he might expect. Some worry. More uncertainty. Why was unclear. A lot was going on, but how this went down wasn't exactly what Lina was expecting. Perhaps it was due to the loss of Florin - more likely, there was some deeper reason.

And yet, anger wasn't in the mix. At least not until her eyes fell on Arturo Garcia, implying that the Dragons needed some appeasement to avoid mass violence.

She glanced back at the Prince, nodding to the Lance man, like did she see him all up over there with Rebecca, talking about appeasement, trying to sow dissent like this was about to pop off or something? She mouthed the word 'seriously' to Alessandra , and moseyed on over to the wall to pick up a copy of the Laws of the Domain before heading over there...

Well that was that. Not much came of it, but the whole act was entertaining. Were Seth an idiot (and not, instead, simply a fool) he probably would have spoken out then and there- not today, though. Such an act would be self-destructive.

He simply watches everyone part ways and separate back into their groups. Things were more tense now- or rather, such tension was made more clear.

People said their piece. The Prince spoke. That was that- just another day at court.

Rebecca listened to The Prince's words from her side corner, the words adding finality to the discussion for now, and they revealed that her suspicions had been right, she would not escaped unscathed. She stood from her seat, for she would not reply to the Prince while seated, and offered her a deep bow. "Absolutely Your Majesty. There will be no torturing for fun, nor any discussion of such, and I will follow your directive absolutely in regards to the questioning of suspects or prisoners. I will not forget your command Your Majesty." That part annoyed Rebecca slightly, but she understood why the Prince had commanded it. She could not guess the inner workings of the Prince's mind, but at a minimum it was a clear why a limit to Rebecca in regards to prisoners was the smart political move. She offered the Prince another bow of her head before sitting back down.

Now the question remained of what to do with Vinny...

"I...never can tell at these things, how things are going. I can tell when an animal, horses mostly, is going to run or fight, pretty well. But I don't seem to have the knack for knowing how things are going when it comes to our own kind."
