Elettra was running late hopefully not too late and is hoping her friends aren't too annoyed with her. She pulls up in her Toyota RAV4 and walks up to the door and knocks. She waits for an answer.

"Many apologies for my tardiness. The Barrens are quite a distance away."
Adam did not hesitate to notice the artifact and the others scrutinizing it.

Mable goes over and answers the door. "Hi come on in."
"Thank you, Mable." Seeing as everyone had already started getting to work trying to figure out the artifact, Elettra jumped right in.

Houston, we have a problem...
The hunger. It was palpable in the room as the Kindred spent more and more time around the Eye. Krieg tried to focus. He really, really did. But it rose in him, and he found himself contemplating the item not in an occult sense, but in the sense of a being wondering how to get blood from a stone. He couldn't help himself. He couldn't think. Worse yet, he felt as though if he did feed, it wouldn't be enough. Nothing would ever be enough. And in his mind, the Eye began to pulse a slow, warm red. Hallucination? Or something meaningful? It was so hard to tell. He couldn't think, he was so hungry...
Elettra Vitale got further in the research component, making contributions over the first hour before finding herself glancing at the other vampires in the room with a yearning, a desire to drink of them. It was distracting, so, so, distracting, and she couldn't get into her learning through her yearning past that. Nothing that would force her to, nothing like that - just a hunger, just a need to see red, the flow of Vitae...
Thomas and Adam felt it too, but their pangs, they could ignore, so engrossed in the texts were the two brilliant scholars. There wasn't much. And what they found was dangerous indeed...

"The Eye of Asmodeus. A powerful artifact that offers vast knowledge but at a great price."
Adam pinches his lips with a hand and thinks.
"It craves blood and the consumption of your soul. It is among the relics marked for destruction among the Sanctified. It is the sought after heart of a heretical cult that has been pursuing it since it was stolen in 1914 by an Acolyte of the Crone by the name of Alamar."
Adam continues to think and speak.
"It is suspected to contain an infernal being. Possibly even Belial himself. I am aware of a ritual that will destroy it, thereby rendering its dangerous nature inert. The ritual materials will require time to assemble."
Adams beast stirs. The temptation of vast knowledge was teasing his lust for it. Did it require the blood and soul of the one it granted it to or could any sacrifice suffice?
"If only I had access to the Church archives. Even the library of the Moore House would offer some assistance. This is all I know, it is dangerous despite what it offers." The temptation was there growing. To slit his own wrist and offer the Eye the vitae it desired in exchange for its forbidden knowledge. But Adam knew he had to set a better example.

"Krieg? Mable, Eevee, Adam... are you all right? Do you feel it?" The question mark is redundant. There's absolutely no doubt in Thomas' mind or voice that everyone else feels the hunger this artifact stirs. The Ventrue, used to poking his Beast with a stick, is proud to keep the yearning in check. But what of the others?
"That is the Eye indeed... and you are correct, it offers knowledge for a price, just like everything else in this world. No understanding has ever been forged without tribulation" He turns to Adam "As for what is inside... it is pure conjecture at this point. It warrants further study"
He falls silent for a long moment. Most of what Adam has said checks out with his own understanding, and certainly the Church wants the Eye destroyed... but a ritual? Could the priest be sincere, or is he trying to trick the Acolytes into allowing him to gorge on the secrets by himself? The Ventrue stares at and through the Shadow intently, trying to determine if his words are true.
"We cannot destroy it, at least not now. So here's what I'm proposing: in recognition of our combined efforts to retrieve it, each person in this room has a right to offer one measure of Vitae to this object. They can do so now or at any time in the future. At next Court meeting, we will refer our findings to Sheriff Moretti to dispel any lingering doubt the Domain officials might have about dabbling in infernalism" He tries to imagine what'd happen if someone mistook them for demon-worshippers. Certainly nothing good for their unlife expectancy "We will present a united front that the Domain is better off with this potential advantage rather than without it. If Moretti decides to destroy it, however, so be it" Another pause. He strongly doubts the Daeva will order the Eye crushed just like that. One does not become Grand Wyrm by virtue of being fearful towards the supernatural.
"I further propose that the Eye be kept in the Crone Temple until the Church builds itself a haven, at which point the artifact will be transferred between the Temple and the haven on every Equinox. Regardless of its location, both the Acolytes and the Church members will have unrestricted access to it, whenever they wish. All of this will only apply, of course, if Moretti doesn't decide to just lock it in the Order's chapterhouse" He smiles dryly, attempting to take a bit of the tension off.
"Would that be agreeable? As you can see, this deal is built on trust. I trust you to make the right decision. Will you return the favor?"
Under normal circumstances, Thomas'd have no authority to conduct this kind of negotiations. He is a subordinate of Krieg, who stands right there, and also happens to be the Sheriff's Deputy, not to mention the overseer of the land they are on. Doubly so - with the Regency and the Farm. But these are not normal circumstances. For some reason, the Hierophant feels... off.
And now... experiment time!
"But first... I need to know if what's inside can be communicated with" He says and focuses on the obsidian cylinder. The words in his mouth and his brain are the same "Do you understand me?"
The world had fallen away from his perceptions. Kindred were talking, yet, it was a mere distant echo for his ears. He knew the Eye could deliver on its promises.
Deep within him, he felt it. The hunger. The bloodthirsty hunger. His fangs were tingling in his mouth. The need to feed.
"No!" he barked, shaking his head. A grimace crossed his face as he turned away from the idol. "No, no, no, no!" he yelled at the room. His large hands gripped his shiny bald head.
The giant man ignored the conversation as he struggled to regain composure. He barrelled toward the door, heading outside.
For anyone who would follow him, it was remarkably easy to see the Hierophant running to the stone altar.
