It had been another unfruitful job search, this time taking her as far as Stanford, but it hadn't been all for naught. For starters, she had looked into the possibility of taking the SAT and try to apply there. It was a remote possibility, she realized, she didn't have an ID solid enough to apply for a scholarship and neither the money for the full tuition, alas, if the budding seed of confidence inside her ever bloomed, she knew she could obtain both by approaching her double. Or at least she hoped she could. Anyway, she welcomed the change of scenery, it kept her mind busy.
The carriage stops, vomiting its content of humans commuters upon the first station of the greater Sacramento Urban Area. She's still far from her destination Downtown, but it's home. Yes, Sacramento is her home now.
The Fairest tucks the collar of her pied de poule patterned shirt inside her blue jacket, then she carefully unfolds one of the college brochures among the many still lying in her lap, their red and white pattern matching against the blue fabric of her jeans.
From her corner seat, she pays little attention to the rest of the wagon as it's being emptied out from the inside, a tranquil haven in the making.
