(Adventure) What Did You Get?

The Circle of Creation stands white and bright against a grey sky of scudding clouds. The old Cathedral stands alone and aloof in the fields just beyond Rancho Cordova, wrapped in mystery. On this day the occluded building's doors are open and inviting; the space within is calm and temperate, perfect for contemplation. Candles burn in niches and the air is tinged with the scent of incense.

In the original building, the room that Winter Cosmo and Phoenyx choose would have been a side-chapel; in this mystically created copy, the room becomes their study. Here, where sunlight is cut into beams by coloured glass, the mages can study what they have found in peace.

There is a disc of green stone with curious markings. Under the Supernal gaze those marks hold in place two spell-like constructs: a map and a greeting.

There is a sultry statue figurine of a dancing woman, all polished stone and languid movement.

There is a battered old box, filled with personal treasures, photographs, notes and nick-knacks. A quick study of the box will also reveal a browning pistol in a leather shoulder-holster. Neither the pistol nor the holster look like they have been maintained in quite some time.

A surprisingly long time had elapsed between their entrance and their consecutive settlement inside the chapel and this moment. The Guardian had been content with just inspecting the disk and rummaging through the contents of the box.
The gun strikes him as something out of place, especially given how well preserved the rest of items were. He unholsters it, carefully weighting the tool in his grip before ejecting the mag.
Then, he'll pull the slide rearward and lock it open with a click. Pointing the muzzle toward the floor he'll consequently roll off the safety and check the chamber, discharging any loaded round with his thumb, if any. Gun care is an acquired habit, both automation and ritual, but for the trained warrior it is something more, part of his identity.
So for one reason or another, the owner of the gun had been neglecting his duties, or maybe he just didn't care. After all, the gun had been auctioned away. The detail was telling, what was even more telling it was how the gun had ended up alongside the disk. The feeling at the base of his skull suggested it would be wise to check for their sympathetic connection.
"You know", he shared nonchalantly with his companions as the process above unfolded, "it's a Grimoire, imbued with two prime patterns", the gun resounded with a click, "quite powerful, whoever made this", he pointed at the disk, "was well versed in High Speech. It probably originally belonged to some ancient Awakened from Asia"

Phoenyx watched Winter execute professional gun discipline with an approving eye. "Huh. Nice piece. Shame about the maintenance."

An Asian Awakened. Some long-lost relative, perhaps?

She turns to the item and begins changing in High Speech, using what Prime knowledge she has. Once the glyph (finally) blossoms into life, she begins assessing the disc, chanting slowly to herself.

Analyze Enchanted Item

The time it took to settle in didn't bother Cosmo, who had taken extra time himself to breath and cool off outside. As Winter begins to work the gun and speak Cosmo silently settles in and listens.

"So what spells are in the grimoire?" He said ignoring the business with the gun. A more martial individual like Phoenyx might appreciate Winter's expertise, but someone who preferred a conversation to a fight saw another bit of matter a well trained Shaman could make irrelevant. The most curious thought about the gun was how it was how it was legally pawned in a state that was notorious for making it difficult to get them.

The Theurgist reached out to his watchtower as the disk once again drew his attention. He attempted to analyze it's properties, but found himself in need of a properly trained mystagogue.

The Guardian shrugged, stopping his scavenger hunt just to reciprocate the younger man's question with a forlorn look. For somebody so eager, those two were really biding their time. He respected that kind of approach, or maybe it's not deliberate, he thought as a sudden wave of realization hit him. "Oh", he said taken aback, "it should be safe. As far as activation is concerned at least. The rest... we'll have to see", with a click of his tongue, an incantation flew his mouth.
A snap of his fingers later, and his will slips past the artificial defenses of the relic, ready to pull its metaphysical trigger.

Winter activates the Artefact.

It launches itself, hovering in the air. The two imbued spells activate fully this time, appearing directly before the mages without the need of the Sight. Two ornate and exquisite flowers carved from raw mana, glowing with power.

In the petals of one flower is a man dressed in ceremonial robes keyed to an Asian cultural milieu. The figure bows and speaks words of greeting. He continues by offering the viewer a chance to become a student of a great Master. His words are in High Speech and from the lips of someone much more versed in the Atlantean 'tongue' than the Guardian given the way the figures words seem to slip and slide and trip. The words are repeated in Sanskrit, a form of Chinese, and with much halting and stuttering, English.

The second flower opens on the vista of a mountainous city or monastery (it is hard to tell for certain). The place is set in mountains surrounded by forest and girded by a rushing river. The vision spirals out, showing steep mountains and lush valleys before the flower closes once more.

Given the greeting from the first flower, it is obvious that this Master expects prospective students to find their sanctum first. Now unfurled completely, the second flower represents a map. A way of finding this hidden sanctum. Of course, the spell does not indicate if this is how the area around the sanctum might currently look...

The Arrow watches with attention, taking in the image of the master, the building, and the map.

"It's beautiful," she whispers, enraptured. "Wonder where it is."

Cosmo takes a step back as the object flies into the air. He listened, or at least attempted to, as the man spoke. Cosmo didn't know enough high speech to follow, he didn't know the language of indeterminate origin, and the English was so butchered he couldn't recite a single word that was spoken. There was a map, and Cosmo wracked his brain for any landmark that might seem familiar.

The Master spoke gibberish, but the Guardian assumed it was more due to the vagaries of time rather than from a fault of his own.
A georgic landscape girded by a river, now that was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
"Well, got any suggestion?"

Cosmo racks his brain.

He has an idea. A wild one. The Mekong river of south east Asia. Not the slow and meandering delta lowland regions, but deep in the mountain country where rushing rivers twist and carve the landscape like dragons.

But if he's right...

That doesn't narrow down the area that much. Perhaps there are other ways to locate the treasure?
