(AGToO) A General Theory of Oblivion

[Campanella]

"I see." Campanella sounded disappointed. It was a ruse.

"I thought the painting which was stolen was made by his daughter? I did not know she was an accomplished artist."

This was a ruse as well. The colleague on the other end of the phone spoke as if there was something much more serious to this, far beyond the sentiments of an old man and a single painting which should have had little value at this time.

The dream images trouble his secondary self's sleep only added to the concern.

"Move mountains, you say? I trust that you have crossed swords with this group before?" He let concern and professional interest mix in his voice - an Art Dealer choosing not to see an implicit threat but a gentle warning from a more experienced colleague.

[Vincent]

"His daughter's works?", the man emitted a sanguine chuckle, "Tawdry baubles at best. No, it's what the collection can do when reassembled that is worth something to those people", the man paused, seemingly to evaluate the response.
"Crossing swords? I'd rather not talk about this affair on the phone. My gallery is still Midtown by 20th Street. It's a quiet place, away from prying ears. Tomorrow night?", he asked with a tinge of guilt.

The lullaby grows louder and more intense as the small rowboat navigates closer to the shores. A stranger is on board, a tall figure clad in a black hood.
You can follow the music or wait for the man.

Now it is Campanella's turn to shift in his seat. He had thought this about a singular painting. Now it is a collection.

He pauses to regain his composure.

"Of course. That sounds a very wise move."

Time. He needed time. This was a good an opening as any.

Deep in his dream, the sleeping version of Campanella stands up straight and adjusts his clothing. He awaits the arrival of the man. He shall have answers, one way or another.

[Vincent]

"Tomorrow, then. I must bid you farewell now, my attention is being distracted elsewhere", the phone went mute, a rather abrupt ending to the conversation.

The boat reaches its destination. Slowly but surely the robe-clad figure creeps forward, its inertial procession uninterrupted by the Moros. Instead, the being continues towards the woods.
Hidden behind smokey shadows, the Moros can't make sense of the features of the creature beneath the veil. Something else, however draws his attention, a trail of purple and crimson seashells left in the creature's wake. The largest of them is shaped like a crimson key.
Morpheus calls, and the Mystagogue feels the pull of the dreamworld tug at the strings of his consciousness, with one last effort however he could grab one of the shells.

This is a dream, so where normally you'd have to roll dex + ath, you substitute with finesse + relevant knowledge skill. In this case give me a manipulation plus the highest of your occult/investigation. Any dot in the mind arcanum can be added as bonus equip modifier. Target is 1 success

Deep in his dream, Campanella readies himself for one last push.

Stretching. Straining against the dream as it closes in and ossifies around him, the Moros reaches out and claims one of the curious looking sea shells for his own.

[Winter]

Small crimson claws spurt from the shell and latch unto the Moros skin. Their bite is not painful. As the scenes collapses into a torrent of oneiric blackness, something clicks deep inside the Moros' psyche, a tidbit of knowledge has been unlocked, which bit? That's unknown.

The receiver grows cold in Campanella's hands as the drive's LED light sings its swan song. The stench of entropy seems to have subdued for the moment. He could analyze the data, or consult a professional. Until then, the only track left is tomorrow's meeting.

[Campanella]

Campanella put down the receiver slowly, delicately, almost like it was a lover.

He was staring at his laptop again. Now he had already attempted to dig into the hard drive's contents already but had come away disappointed. The late night phone call, and the peculiar dream, had stirred something within him.

So he seized the moment to check the hard drive one last time...

The drive connects to the computer effortlessly, but no gallery of images or emails come from it, rather, a few seconds later the system reboots to a dead channel. A command prompt suddenly blinks into existence, flickering against the black screen is the familiar input character of a bash SHELL.

With 2 suxx he probably knows what a bash shell is. If Campanella has been paying attention he likely knows the key. And the Id? Well that's how plots start

Campanella spends long moments staring at the prompt.

Then he quietly shuts down the computer and prepares for bed. The Moros has a prudent nature; he has enough to dwell on with the dream and the mysterious forces at play in the art world. The hard drive is important. But there is only so much one can achieve in a night and Campanella suspects there are better computer wizards out there than himself.

He retires and prepares to spread word of the strange events Eurydice has left behind on the morrow.

Good place to stop? Campy would be spending his time getting the plot out to other (player characters) and preparing for his meeting. He will be handing the drive over to people much more competent that he.

And with that the Moros succumbed to Morpheus. No doubt his dreams would bring him wisdom
