What does one who is immortal do with his spare time? There was always the opportunity to study the prey. Understanding how mortals were driven to obsessive distraction - by other mortals - was something that fascinated the Acolyte.
He had watched the rise, fall, and slow regrowth of the arcade industry. What's old is new again. It was time to see how retro entertainment was working and how effective it was.

In a corner of the Game Room focused intently on a game of Space Invaders was a 5'2" woman early 20's with long braids, a purple nerd princess t-shirt, jeans, and purple converse all-stars sneakers. The stars on the sneakers had been embellished with glitter. It had been one of Mable's favorite games when it first came out and she was hoping she still had it. "Pew, Pew. Die aliens die."
In another corner of the Game Room racking up an ever-ascending high score on a first-person shooter was an urban cowboy. A group of fanboys and girls surrounding him as he continued to hit his mark time and time again. The toy gun moving deftly in his hands as if he had always held a gun.

The Giant heard his apprentice, Mable, dealing the destruction of aliens. Her Beast familiar to him - as such the sudden rush of an adrenaline experience did not trigger. Dungeon Divin' Davis, on the other hand, was a different scenario. The man's past behavior was indeed clownish, however, the potency of his Blood was a warning.
He knew better than to interrupt someone pursuing a high score. The Daeva's sharpshooting could continue uninterrupted. That and Krieg didn't particularly like the look of one of the kids.
He approached Mable. "What wave are you on?"

Mable didn't life her eyes from the screen, "Lost count, almost have the high score beat." A few minutes later she had the score beat and game over.
She turned and faced him, "You want a go?"
Davis continued to play fervently.
"Damn mister. Where did you learn to play? Are you some kind of assassin? Can you kill my history teacher?"
"Natchez Under the Hill. Worse. How much is it worth?" Davis was not really paying attention to the kid's question. His kindred focus was on increasing the speed in which he killed the opponents in the game. So focused was his intent he didn't even notice the pull of the presence of other predators.
The next and final wave was about to begin.
Krieg could hear Davis say something about "Natchez under the hill," it wasn't anything he was familiar with. His attention drifted back to Mable. "Sure, why not" he shrugged. He fished a quarter out of his pocket and inserted it. "It's been a long time, so don't tease me."
The screen booted up and Galaga began for the umpteenth time.

The old Pagan still had it. He grinned watching his success.
Wave after wave, aliens were annihilated. The music changed to an ominous tone. A boss showed up. His features hardened as he concentrated.
"Bugger, I forgot about that." Multiple ships were lost. "Die, damn you," he cursed at the screen.
The cultist destroyed the enemy ship. "Hah!" he yelled. He was back on his way up.
He ended his play time with a smile. "Your turn."
After five rolls, Krieg's total score is 13

Mable was going to head over to talk with John but her competitive side kicked in.. "You are so on."
She started off strong
Her focus was intense and she never said a word.
Somehow she was losing ground...
"Fuck"
Then she started to do better but it was just too little too late.
"Damn, that was terrible." Then she laughed. "But fun"
Victory music can be heard from the machine Davis was playing. "Perfect! You Passed the Challenge! You've Set a Record" A western themed score can be heard as Davis holsters the controller pistol.
"Damn mister! Are you like a white Django or something?"
"Nope," Davis reached down and took the massive amount of tickets spewing out of the machine. With his haul in hand, Davis turns to notice the city's Crone gathered in front of a saddle horn game. "Most interesting meeting you two here."
