(Memory Lane) Needle in a Haystack

"Oh, yay," Circe deadpanned as they discovered stuff about the guy. "A conspiracy crazed private dick that believes in aliens. Probably thinks They are aliens." She looks to Echo, "So what was step 2 again?

[Echo]

"Might think we're aliens." Echo runs a broken glass clawed hand down her face. "Ugg, He's probably already linked us to other organizations and stuff. Like we like to keep an eye on the missing and kids and stuff ya? Make sure They keep the fuck away. Which means he might be assuming we're kidnapping dickwads."

She taps her claws against the table, "We can't call the cops. Not everyone here has their own papers and stuff. And bringin' in the popo won't be great for us, don't want extra scrutiny." looking at their results, "He's been hanging around the Tunnels, think he's been under Funderland?" she shakes her head, "We could go to his office. Break in, or do it legit, like we could set up a meeting. Or we could work him into a Dreaming Pledge. Get into his dreams and see what we can find there."

[Circe]

"We got a way ta say we're savin' kids without lettin' him in on the truth?" Circe just threw it out there. "I mean, a Oath that'll kill him if he talks or goin' inta his dreams could work too. Ya can phrase somethin' like that?"

As for him visiting the tunnels, that was harder to answer. "Not sure. A lot if closed off and flooded down there. I wanted ta weld in some more barriers down there. Hmm," a blue chin is rubbed by a blue left hand, "Maybe we could claim there's hallucination causin' mold or swamp gas down there? I mean, it could get the cops too. Oh," she smiles, "Oh ho ho ho, unless we claim we're checkin' ta see if its there cause of wild rumors. I mean, it is another way ta tell him ta fuck off."

[Echo]

"Not unless we can reason with him. Or bind him nice and proper with Pledge and Glamour." flicking hair over her shoulder, "And I don't know if I want to keep him 'round." having only blurted out about Lucifer the one time they'd spoken.

Echo stares at her broken glass claws, and pictures them red, and copper tasting. Pennies and glass.

"Before spreading wild rumours we should see what rumours he's heard first. Don't wanna confuse things more then they're already confused. Plus there's the women, who we haven't found on social media but was there with him...hmm." Echo trails off lost in thought. "Think we should bring anyone else in on this? Maybe they'd have better ideas then we do."

Echo asks, and thinks once again about the easy way.

"That's fair," white hairs bops as she nods. Who did they know that was really good at bullshit? "Hey? Who is the best bull shitter ya know? I think we should get that one ta help."


Circe tried to think about whom that would be but she was too blunt for that kind of thing to work often on her. "Ingrid maybe? She wears one of her dresses and she could shut his brain down. I'd suggest my roomie mostly on principle. I don't know if he's like able ta change his Mask or somethin'. Can't see it and all. I can ask him," she pulls out her phone.


She could also hatch up some other plans to deal with the guy. "Maybe several folks. Have the talkers meet and manipulate while we sneaks try ta see what he's dug up? They pump him fer the missin' kids. Uh," Circe quirks her left eyebrow and ear, "Wait. Kids ain't actually gone missin' at Funderland, have they?"

Echo blinks, the question brings her out of thinking about the kill.

"No kids have gotten hurt or gone missing." had she not explained herself well enough? "This guy, Pico and his girlfriend, whoever she is, they've been hanging around. In the foresty area by the parking lot. Spying on the Park. He's probably been investigating the Park. Us. Which, is totally a Bad Thing." Echo didn't know how many people here had killed their Fetches, which Fetches went cray-cray slasher on their lives or if any one had decent papers. They couldn't face serious scrutiny.

"I wanna know what's up with the 'strange amnesia cases'" pointing to the forum it was mentioned in. "It looks connected to the tunnels which connect to the Park...." Echo moves over to try and finagle the search engine.

And Echo hits pay dirt!

Of a sort.

There have been a number of unusual cases of amnesia. In Sacramento. Especially during the middle part of the decade.

Not that Echo discovers a lot: her search blunders into around, making it hard to effectively organise a list of cases or a more definite time frame. About four cases, reported through blogs and various media outlets, all shared the same characteristic: a complete loss of memory and the victim being found wandering the city - one in Old Sacramento; one in the parkland in which Funderland is set; two others in North Sacramento.

And when the glass lioness takes a closer look at the case of the amnesiac found in Old Sacramento, she see's the oval face of Emmanuel Pico's female associate. Beverly Winter.

"Emmanuel Pico and Beverly Winter." she murmurs as she finds the second name. "Welp. Hmm." more a mumble as she shares what she just found with Circe. "So. We need to find out what's causing the amnesia...? Why they're hanging around the Park...or what's causing these cases around Sacramento....grab it. Destroy it. Whatever it. Then maybe we can deal with the hummies."

She pull sup google maps. "Kay. We should check the parkland first since we're already here. Umm, maybe grab some more people that can track...I don't wanna be that person, buuuuuut like, we have Beasts in the 'hold now don't we? Maybe tag 'em in on this?" she asks, blade sharp eyes looking up at Circe.

[Circe]

Circe looks over the shoulder of the glass kitty to see what she found. "Hmm indeed. There's his motivation. Dude wants ta be her knight in shining whateva." She nodded her head, "Can't go wrong with beasties. Best ta get word out too. Maybe someone's heard somethin' ta point us in the right direction. It'll be eaiser ta cover up if we know what we're coverin' up."

All else failed they could point the detective at the threat and then take out the winner. A grin oozed its way on to Circe's face. "Hey, we're in the security shack. Why don't we check the camera first? Who knows, maybe we got digital archives," the tone more then her shrug made it clear she was doubtful of that.

"We already looked at the archive." Echo says, pointing to the footage. "We should go and actually check out what they were poking around. We're just been sitting around looking screens so far." Echo says standing.

"Coming?" she asks as she walks to the door.
