However there will be a penalty of -3 to reflect the difficulty of obtaining information / obscurity, etc. NOTE: Contacts aren't really the type of Merit for this job (that would be Allies). However, some of the information Krieg seeks is 'public domain' and Digital Networks should be able to track it.

John sat down next to Mable and she gave him a smile of encouragement. "Glad you decided to sit down and join us." She said quietly. Krieg had left the room. Mable looked at the pictures really closely and realized she recognized one of the guys. She was trying to decide the best course of action when Krieg came back grumbling. "Gotta make a call." She whispered to John and Krieg.

Once out in the hall she made a quick call to her friend at the police station. She was gonna owe him for this she was sure. A few minutes later and she came back in with a smile. He would help as much as he could.

Though the action to dip into her own allies did not recieve the approval of her Priscus verbally, the fact that many of the assembled Kindred had begun to leave to speak with their own informants gave Blackbird all the prodding she needed.

Time to show some initiative, little bird.

Stepping out, Blackbird retrieved her own phone and looked at it with the briefest of hesitation, her thumb hovering over the call button. This could make or break her. On one hand, she'd prove herself an asset. On quiet another, she'd become a Black Sheep and looked upon with greater scrutiny. Time to take a risk. She committed, contacting those she knew in the seedier underbelly of the city for information on the safecraker, Lindasfarne.

Upon return, Blackbird went back to where the group had gathered, this time overtly choosing to place herself near her family's Priscus and look upon her.

The neonate was smile, her poise the image of confidence.

Simmons works hard with her Allies and Contacts. She has to. It is late and some of them are on shift; or in bed; or trying to read before bed. Some of her more shady associates are, naturally, unavailable. The hours of darkness are when the are active, just like she is.

Her CRIMINAL associates (those who are available) know of Lindasfarne and Cochrane. Lindasfarne is a professional safe cracker. Cochrane is a more recent arrival, specialist in bombs; the general impression is that she has a military background - presumably she left because she has "anger management issues".

Her friends in the MEDICAL world know of McGregor - of a potentially good doctor falling off the rails and quitting before she completed med school. Some believe that it was just going to be too tough for one of her background, without a scholarship backing her, to go far (they expect that she simply went to a volunteer aid agency where she can do some good without the infuriating paperwork holding her back); some believe that she was either assaulted or witnessed an assault that tipped her over the edge.

Mabel works her circle of friends in the EMERGENCY SERVICES. They confirm that Lindasfarne is a local safe cracker - the kind of shady dealer who works with, and against, the police depending on the circumstances. The word on the man is 'professional' and that 'he enjoyed the challenge'. Cochrane is known as well - but more for her wild behaviour, her drinking, and her fights. Jerry Game appears to draw a blank - according to Mabel's contacts he is an idle rich man with some very strange friends and a habit for speeding.

Blackbird's Allies also confirm that Lindasfarne is a very professional safe cracker who lives locally; that he offers his services to both the police and more shady groups. They also warn that he is 'strange', lives alone, and hangs out with 'conspiracy theorists'. It is known that Yusuf has a soft spot for the man, and keeps an eye out for him. The advice is friendly and the warning carefully phrased and implicit.

Lina burns through the night hours massaging, cajoling and manipulating her Allies and Contacts. Apparently, they are being kept busy tonight and the phones are just ceaseless; perhaps this is why her work is so difficult and, in many cases, fruitless.

Dr. Culpepper was a street doctor who specialised in looking after clients who wanted to remain off-grid and anonymous. He is dead. The news is slowly filtering through the community now that his lab has been found - trashed and burned. The view is that either he pissed off some pretty powerful people (unlikely as he tried to remain friends with all) or that his last client was being hunted down, and Culpepper was in the way. Culpepper's body has not been found; they are assuming he was 'disappeared'.

Yusuf is a businessman with a criminal past. He has done his timed moved out of the shadows while raising the next generation of criminals in his little area. Everyone knows that the cycle continues given his gym is more than just a place where 'troubled youth' go and get a 'mentor'. He may ware a suit but the local hoodlums in his neighbourhood respect him and the organisation he created still operates with his blessing (the crew remain small and local, very much focussed on a few corners and rackets). Nothing much happens in his North Sacramento neighbourhood without his agreement.

Jerry Game. A hurried investigation with digital friends and white hat hackers? The hunt is almost derailed by ancillary investigations of Game's costars... He is out of the adult entertainment industry. Has been for a number of years. Drugs. Rehab. Rediscovering himself in Italy. Now back - none of Lina's allies knew that the man was in Sacramento, though. That is new. Since his return from Italy, Game has been one of the crass idle rich. He does some blogging about celebrity affairs. He hangs around Bruce Harcourt, cat-like, like an ugly stain (no doubt to quietly get back at the producer behind much of Game's work... in the industry). Oh! And he stays connected with a bunch of new age and occultist types throughout California.

And the Colonel? John Davis somehow sets up a meeting with Lindasfarne - a vault for a steam ship rebuild.
