[Aurora]

Blue eyes watch the dance as it unfolds. Each showing the powers of their own Arcana.

Though it dismayed her to watch. With their numbers few and the threats great, this seemed like pointless posturing to her. Or as she had heard things described before, a dick measuring contest. But instead of rulers, they had magic.

And the magic was cutting to the bone now. This was going beyond a simple duel.

How would it end? Who would walk away and who would fall to the floor?

[Campanella]

Campanella's face twitched.

From momentary relief.

He regarded Alastor.

"You are quite correct. If there was a way to end this... display... now, I would. The woman is quite beside herself and clearly will refuse to yield. All in the name of her own... petty... delusions."

A pause as the Moros risked another glance at the duel.

"I was worried that I would have to duel her. Thats some peculiar writ under the Lex would grant her what she most ardently desires. I am so glad that cannot come to pass."[/I]

There was another pause. Another inner debate, quickly concluded.

"She has gone Apostate. Quite turned from the beliefs that underpin the Mysterium. Indeed, I would say that the belief system she now espouses and so desires to beat into everyone else undermines the entire Pentacle. Now that you ask, I believe it my duty to inform you. For the good of the Consilium."

He spoke sadly and it was true. He was. And looking at the duel only demonstrated how far Epitaph had fallen.

[Weavebreaker]

The arcana of Death, was always something that sat in juxtaposition amongst of the rest of the arcana for Weavebreaker. It was something more than how it was laid out on the pentacle, across from the Path that she walked. It wasn't like the Supernal display turned her stomach anymore than the analogues of the Fallen and the brutality she had seen.

Weavebreaker found her mind wandering for a moment. Most of the Fallen was desensitized to watching graphic violence and horror; Hell, they paid for it. What they weren't accustomed to, were things such as the smell of opening a connex box with three-week old remains. To her she was thankful there wasn't smell to this Supernal Display.

Alastor and Campenlla's conversation drew her attention. The words still left a lot of the details fuzzy, but at least there was a glimpse at the bigger picture. To her, it would be nice if everything was black and white; nice and binary. She was either an enemy of Sacramento or wasn't...

Sadly, though, life was just more complex than to often fit into polarities.

[Winter]

He couldn't help but overhear fragments of the conversation between the Mystagogue and the Arrow. If the little clues he had pieced together amounted to anything, the reasons that had wrought the challenge into existence were grave indeed. Still, it would be improbable that he'd be able to pierce the veil of secretness that the Mysterium had layered unto the duel.


The two duelists seemed hesitant. They had reached an impasse and were now studying each other, prying for an opening.

Hamia watches as the duel commences, and halfheartedly summons her Sight.

Time seems to read her complete lack of interest and, at least at first, doesn't respond. She doesn't feel like she is missing anything. Eventually, though, she tries again. This go around, Time responds, and she views the duel through the eyes of the Awakened. She's appalled by what she sees.

Her mundane senses perceive hints of conversations happening around her, but everything seems to be in a haze. The duel occupies her attention. The violent exchanges, the vivid visualizations of the arcane, and the growing sense that Epitaph has a screw loose. These are all she can focus on.

[Langdon]

Like magic words belief system draws Langdon's attention. It's a complicated thing that was rendered almost too simple by the truth of reality. If a true Akashic Record exists somewhere in the Astral Realm it would not surprise Langdon one bit. That doesn't stop it from being as problematic among the Awakened as it is among the Sleepers.

With soft steps Langdon makes his way over to Alastor and Campanella. The Stalker nods to the senior Mystagogue, waiting to see if he can stay.

[Campanella]

Campanella catches Langdon's glance and gives a nod by way of assent. His eyes are bouncing furiously between the Arrow and the duelists as the contest comes to its end.

The ending came as a shock to the Moros. He had expected it to be close and he had hoped against hope that Knot would overcome Epitaph. The battle - for all of Epitaph's drama - had seemed to heading the way Campanella had wanted. And then the Death wielding Moros bought Knot to his knees... and then the floor.

"Her espoused belief system. That the Watch Towers are part of the Lie and..."

Campanella was continuing. He was running out of time and he knew it, hence why he cut straight to the chase.

And then there was no time. Knot fell.

The air rushed from Campanella's open mouth.

[Banshee]

A ghost of a smirk appears upon bleak painted lips. Knot crashes to the floor, proving once more a simple ringing Truth. Everything leads unto Death.

But oh! What a glorious macabre vision this was, yes. She will paint it, a series perhaps, of Fate and Death.

"Congratulations Epitaph ," she says, "Isn't this what you're supposed to say yes? She's is the victor, and obviously the Wiser?" she needles, a ghastly smile pulling her lips. A derisive snort, "Will the second Duel commence as offered. Will you battle my battered Cabal Mate now, Campanella ?" Her head tilts as she arches a brow.
