(On the Hunt) Chasing Rumours

The Shadow deputy turns her attention to the still empty street while Clara scurries from the truck with a swiftness borne of desperation. The Daeva reaches the dead Hunter but her hurried pat-down finds nothing.

Meanwhile, Mabel continues to lay into the hapless man with the moustache. He is trying to defend himself now. Bobbing and weaving, he attempts to scrabble back into the cab.

This time he succeeds, tearing out of Mabel's clutches like a frightened animal. John Davis' shot rings in the Hunter's ears and echoes down the street. There is a nice hole on the pickup's bonnet where the Hunter's head had been.

Hunter #2 risks willpower. He succeeds in getting into the cab - just. The driver's side door is still open.

Seeing nothing and no one she nods to herself only to curse as the under fed male makes it into his vehicle.

Izayoi runs to the vehicle intent to grab the male before he speeds away. Clearly she cannot rely on these kindred to do the job properly.

Clara picks up the gun the dead hunter had been using and quickly checks to see if it's loaded.

Scene secure, Izayoi hurls herself across the intervening distance and latches onto the Hunter as he wrestles with the pickup's controls. Mabel follows suit, launching herself at the cabin and the Hunter's flailing limbs. All three struggle in a seething mass of arms and legs.

The Hunter screams - more from frustration than animal fear. His eyes blaze with animal fervour.

He battles to gain purchase on the glove compartment. He does! But his fingers barely reach the pistol kept within: it clatters to the floor with a thud.

Clara sifts through the blood clogged dirt and finds the other Hunter's heavy pistol. She grabs it and moves into position.

So does John Davis, moving in a swirl of duster coat. One shot makes the dead Hunter lump of meat on the ground jerk once in symphony. Another catches the Hunter as he is hauled from the cab by sheer weight. He goes limp; a dead weight. Mabel and Izayoi go tumbling to the ground under his inert mass.

The underfed male is unconscious and not dead. Izayoi nods and begins searching the truck for rope. They would need to bind this fool and take him somewhere for interrogation.

"Help me find something to bind him, and one of you retrieve the corpse, we will need to dispose of it." she says, knowing that once more she will have to do the tasks of the unclean.

Mable holds the unconscious man making sure he doesn't wake and run. Mable suggests to the Deputy, "After we secure him and clean up a bit. I could call in a drive-by shooting if you want. I can handle the police etc." Mable's not sure if the Deputy wants to handle the murdered man in a mundane fashion or not.

Clara whirled back around gun in hand to see the lithe man fall into unconsciousness.

She tucked the gun into her sweatpants' waistband and hopped up onto the truck. She motioned Goto to the locked trunk. She called out just soft enough for the Kindred to hear, "If anyone sees a key, there's a locked trunk back here." She fished out a bobby pin out of her uncharacteristically messy hair and, after working the tumbler for a second, gave up after the bobby pin snapped. "Merde," she cursed and tossed the thin piece of metal aside.
