The young girl giggles, covering her mouth with both hands. She briefly breaks one free to wave at the arriving Fairest. Then, straightening again and putting on her best attempt at a serious face, she says "Europe."
Her saucer-like eyes flit from one Changeling to the next, practically bursting at the seams to finish her joke. She even bounces a little on her heels, causing more loose dirt to tumble down into the water.

"Sup Sasha?!" she looks at Katie. "To a lot of things, yes I am," turning Europe into a horrid pun. This put a massive grin on Circe's face. It screamed I know it was horrible and don't care.
"Ahem, I know, but it was fuuuun. Europe who?" Circe couldn't peel the grin off her face.

Retainer"Europe? Europe! Ha!"
Ingrid laughs. Genuine enough but something in her face suggests that she was expecting something else. Her posture remains tensed, slightly poised. Somewhat ludicrous given Katie's immature giggles.
The Darkling's eyes bounce hither and yon in a searching pattern. Nothing: no sound; no sucking or slurping or grinding or breath of air. No incursion of the Wyrd as the Hedge blossomed into reality. Taking a few tentative steps, Ingrid edges to the edge and scans the water as if expecting a Gate to manifest there.
"So. So? That wasn't a Key to a Gate? Uhm... Was this your special hiding place or was it... ahm... beyond. You know?"
The Fairest didn't really know yet what was going on. They edged to the side of the bridge, but she did not. She was content to just let what ever was to come about do so.
But Europe was a riddle she'd never heard before. And with all of the kids she instructed, you'd think she had.
Looking around, Sasha was just checking to make sure nothing was going to jump out at them. Patiently, she awaited Katie's return on the joke. Her face was eager with anticipation and she kept aware of her surroundings.

Nothing happens when Katie speaks the word 'Europe'. She just teeters on the edge, waiting for an answer.
She lets out a giggle at Ingrid. "That's not the joke... you're supposed to say 'who's there?', and then I finish the joke."
"Eur-op-ean!" she says, once Circe chimes in with the required answer. She doesn't even wait to see their responses; she just steps backwards. Silence follows. No splash. No frightened yell from the young girl. And then...
A deep bass tone that the ear can barely perceive is emitted. Circe, Sasha and Ingrid feel it more than see it. The splash never comes. Katie is gone. In her place, just beneath the edge of the drop, a Gate yawns into existence. Just on the other side, Katie can be seen. She waves back with one hand, covering her laughter with the other. Just beyond the rounded edges of the Gate, a veritable children's wonderland can be seen. Brimmed on the outside by a threatening circle of Thorns is a forest out of a coloring book. The landscape is dotted with tree-houses, blanket-and-pillow forts draped over hanging branches and even a fire pit lined with marshmallow skewers. Stuffed animals can be seen around every tree - though none of them appear to be moving. Katie beckons the three from the other side.
"Jump in!" Her shout can barely be heard.

Circe returns the wave with a tiny one from her own right hand. A part of her was glad said stuffed animals were not mobile. That'd be creepy, "Thank you no chucky dolls." Circe looks at her comrades before she shrugs, "Whelp, she who dares and all that ssssh, uh, stuff," then jumps down through the gate.
The elf quickly moves so she is out of the way of the other ladies. She walks over to Katie, "Nice digs kiddo," she is genuine in her compliment. Circe had seen worse. And better. "Aww got some cutie plushies to cuddle up with in here." Though a few of the stuffed animals get a quirked ear and eyebrow. Mostly due to unexpected beyond teddy bears.

RetainerIngrid cackles again. Not so much at the joke but at the humour of the Key. Her head bobs this way and that as she scans the area once the bass tone heralds the opening of the Gate. The laughter dies on her lips but the smile remains, fixed in place, as she stares into the Hollow.
From where Katie is, the smile would still look genuine. Up close, a certain slant of the Darkling's eyes suggested she was thinking, analysing... Maybe even praying... That Katie really was nothing more than she seemed. For all the child like fun the Hollow suggested, the Vernal Sovereign could also sense the potential of a great trap.
But there was only one way to find out.
Shrugging to Sasha and emitting what could be faithfully described as a helpless giggle, Ingrid threw herself through the portal after Circe.

Did the two ladies not understand how kids needed to be entertained?
"Okay, Eu-ro-pean who?" She called out while looking into the Gate.
The Fairest really hated the Hedge. She avoided it at all costs if she could. Sure, she had Hollows, but those were made by her or another Winter.
Barely stepping foot in, her violet eyes looked around. It was almost like a toy store exploded into Neverland. This wasn't good. Maybe the kids 'wanted' to be lost?

If you all could annotate your Wyrd for me, I can react accordingly as the Hedge shifts and changes and whatnot.
Katie fixes her orbs on Circe and beams a proud smile. "Thanks. It used to be a lot scarier. But we didn't like it, so we changed it."
The little fish-girl says it as nonchalantly as if she'd been describing rearranging furniture. Sadness diffuses her smile, as she no doubt has reminded herself of her missing brother.
Ingrid, landing next, earns a giggle. "Fun, right?" she holds her hand out to the Vernal Sovereign in a friendly 'hold-my-hand'. It's clear Ingrid has made her mark on the child.
And Sasha only makes the child laugh harder. "What? No, silly. That's the joke! Like... you're-a-peein!"
Even as the Lost's eyes adjust the the vibrant change of scenery, it is clear something powerful is at work. As Katie takes a few steps within the twisted wonderland, the Thorns seem to react. Further out, the choking forest and darkness that ring the area seem to recede more. More trodden paths appear that twist and turn into hideaways and maze-like crooks into the wilderness. Pastel colors appear where there had been only blacks and greens... which still seems alien and somewhat wrong. Rather than dread, however, it seems to suggest mischief.
