Longstreet returns the nod offered to him by the Burned Man, and for a second feels like he missed a step in a flight of stairs, for the absence of his Beast was at least as unsettling as if it was there.
The entire walk to the garage passes in silence. Longstreet has never been here before and to him, these parts are prettunremarkable, but the other haunt seems to be deep in his thoughts. Finally, they stop, not far from their destination.
"They should still be, if my sources are to be believed." Apparently, leaving open back doors to derelict buildings was a local Sacramento custom.
As Cross lays out his plan, Longstreet nods, silent. At last, he simply says that "It's a good plan. I'll look around, see if there were any... guests beside us."
"Speaking of guests, my people on the street told me some pretty weird things about the place. Apparently, there were freaks, like - circus freaks, squatting there some time ago. One, a dwarf, was even found in a jar, but from what my contact told me, he was still alive and conscious. There are also reports of alien... things scaling the walls and going in through the windows. This 'hood also is rumored to have an unusually big feral dogs population."
"Yes, I know how this sounds, and that we shouldn't believe everything we are told, but these people... they might be slightly unbalanced, but they ain't stupid. I'm starting to suspect the Alchemists picked this place for a reason. If they were doing experiments here, some remnants of them might still be around. Valuable... but dangerous, too."
When everything is said and done and they part ways, Longstreet sweeps the outside of Joe's Repairs, looking for signs of recent activity. Footprints, knocked over trash bins and the like.
