Jesse believed Stax about as much as he believed those mad people running around telling all the end was nigh. Been hearing that for a long time, never was happening any. Not that he was minding it any, would be a shame and all.

The two Carthians were hired muscles as far as he could tell, which looking at Stax — who failed to be impressive in many ways so far — he could understand. Doubtful he would have been able to drag the fledgling back without any muscles.

Whatever the case, Jesse caught it. That special hint about there not being all truth in what Stax was saying. Would have been somewhat disappointed if the man was actually trying not to hide something from them. Before he could be speaking up about it, they had another person join in on their little chit-chat.

A grin spread over his lips when Bea had caught it as well; his eyes shifted between Eli and Hennink, before settling on Stax again.

"Here I thought we could be friends and all — and you go and ain't honest with us. I'm shocked, appalled even," he snorted, turning to look at the fledgling. "Don't go and give him reasons to

He turned and looked at Carson, putting a hand up. He much rather the fledgling didn't go and escalate this situation in some way. Wouldn't be looking any good for him, neither did he care to have to deal with it.

Beast flared deep inside Emma. She was one pissed off gangrel. "Don't you dare start to sneak off." Emma's voice was more of a growl now. "What the hell do you mean coming into our territory and lying to us."

"And this poor fool of a man. The lies you told him." Emma wanted to tear Stax's head off. She was barely keeping her cool.

Without taking her eyes off Stax she said to the others, "Could someone take Ford into an office while we talk to these gentlemen?" The last thing she wanted was to endanger or scare Ford more than he was already.

They were going to need to inform the Prince from San Francisco about the possible breach in their domain. But that could wait a little longer at least until they knew more information. "You men are so out of line. Care to try and repair the damage?" Emma would give them a chance to tell them the truth, she had learned from her Prince to be fair, on your guard, but fair.

"Normally, I would happily volunteer to escort the poor Mr. Ford, but I'm afraid I just don't know which office would be most appropriate," Bea explained. She was too used to those with more decades pooled in their blood assuming that she was only fit for the shitty jobs. Which, to be honest, she had also been used to when she'd still been alive, though for different reasons.

And the tables turned.

Pity Stax, partially hidden by shadow and sculpture. He was silent, not struck dumb but making rapid calculations as he struggled to find a means to turn the situation back around.

Pity Carson Forde who still had no grasp on what was going on. "What!" He took a step away, confused and angry. His barely contained Beast, mewling thing that it was, was writ plain on his face.

Hulking Eli barely moves. His eyes remain part closed but there is a flicker of movement under his lids. Those droopy, black, eyes are focussing on Stax with a laconic intensity. A grunt escapes his lips.

Hennink blurts a single foul word, rising briefly in his seat. He too turns on Stax, then just as quickly he turns back to Emma.

But its Eli who speaks: "Well, if what that guy says is true, you talk to Stax. We're paying off a boon the Movement owes him and nothing more." The words carried weight, so did the pause Eli left in the wake of his speech.

With his Mask of Tranquility going, Jesse figured he was likely the best candidate to go and talk to the fledgling; least threatening to the mewling Beast of his and all. Not something he liked doing, breaking the 'you are now a fiend of the night!'-speech out like he was giving

Jesse moved over to Carson, wrapping an arm around the man's shoulder and giving him friendly a smile as can be. "Why don't I go and take Carson here to the meeting room? We already got acquainted and all, escaping from the lot over there. Going to give you an explanation," he said to the fledgling, though he was probably not the most gentle about these things. No reason to be going and pussyfoot around the subject.

Rip it right off, that bandage, and pour whiskey over it. Hurt like a bitch, but healed quicker.

Wasn't going to force the fledgling, he might feel better off with William since he seemed more the bleeding heart type to want and stick up for the man.

Jesse did look over at Stax, giving him a meaningful look. "He one of yours, right? What clan? Or you want to go and continue lying to us all, fella?"

"Our investigations would suggest he is an Incubus of unknown origin."

Smooth. Stax was smooth, not even batting an eyelid in the face of the crowd. He did not spare Carson Forde a glance.

Lying it was. Badly at that. Jesse rolled his eyes.

"Unknown, my ass. Only unknown thing is how you get by being so bad a liar. This is getting painful to watch," he snorted, then began walking away with his arm still around Carson's shoulder to guide him along, assuming the fledgling wasn't resisting none.

Conversationally, he said to Carson, "Should gone and figured you're one of them. Desperate model and all. Also the only explanation I got about how you went to believe this fella anything. Doesn't look like he could be lying his way out of being a scratching post to some."

If Emma went and did just that, he wanted explicit telling of that story from the others.

"Going to have us a chat now, shed some light on what's been going on with you. Meeting room's over there, we're going to sit down and talk all friendly-like. Sounds good, doesn't it? Finally getting to know what's going on."

He figured if the meeting room was open for usage, they'd be sitting down there.

If it was locked or something — didn't know whether it was usually open for the common folks — he was sure to find some other place around here.

Emma did not take her eyes off of Stax for a moment, "Eli, Hennink- beyond the boon to the movement do you have anything to do with what's going down? Did you know Stax had sired this man? Or has Stax played you all for fools?" Emma was so hoping it was just Stax. "And, since this asshole can't seem to find the truth, what is the rules around becoming a sire in your domaine?" Emma was holding in her rage. At this point she was not sure what would happen if she let go of the precious control. She really really hoped she wouldn't completely lose her shit. After all, she was in a place in the domaine which losing ones shit was not exctly smiled upon.

To Bea and William- "Could you folks help our guests to a comfortable seat while I speak to Mr. Stax?"

To Jesse she said- "Thank you very much! I will be there in a bit."

To Stax- "I really am not sure what to say to you. Perhaps, you would like to start again with maybe some actual honesty. Because without some real honesty, you may not like the outcome of this evening."

[Bea]

"Oh, look...there's all this room on the floor," Bea exclaimed, gesturing at the expanse of floor beneath the foreign Kindred's feet.

"So much room. You can stretch out as much as you'd like. You could even use one of these fine statues as a back support," she explained. "I find the nice edges really dig in for a deep muscle massage."

Because in her mind, these other assholes hadn't done jack shit to verify whatever this Stax guy was selling, which made them culpable in her eyes. That meant they could park their ass on the floor and consider it hospitality. And, well, if the doctor wanted to fetch chairs, she wouldn't stop him. She just wouldn't be helping.
