(Spiders) Call to Arms

Brother Rat raised some very good points. They had little to go on with just what they would be dealing with.

“Well, as a Disciple of Time, I should be able to get some kinda of picture or knowledge of it. Not sure how easy it will be cause I wasn’t there, but I’ll see what I can do.” It all depended on if Time would corporate.

She then nods to Campanella, “I agree one hundred percent. We go together, as a group. I would also like he chance to use Fate to guide our actions. Being able to glance at the future sometimes helps. We have to be smart about this, I won’t allow another Awakened to fall to this thing.”

Some people might get wound up about the new guys being all Twenty Questions and positing theories. But given one was a Thyrsus and this was a Spirit thing? Makes sense, yo. About all Angels contribute to Spiritual matters is blasting them with fire if they showed themselves.

Unless, you know. He was right and it wasn't maybe totally a Spirit? Kinda interesting. Maybe it was an Abyssal Manifestation let loose.

"I, uh." Seems like everyone was putting out their resumes. What they could do, what they could contribute. "Well. If it's Abyssal? I'm not saying it, but just in case. I can, uh, try to do stuff."

As expected, the Shaman's understanding and experience is spot on. "Yes, unfortunately Crowley couldn't convey the conversation itself, but I agree that would lend better insight into the creature's motivation. And Crowley was able to recover the number it dialed, though we haven't determined who it belongs to. But to answer your question, the spider's abdomen was roughly the size of a coconut by the time I encountered it. And it could move and jump quickly both to evade and attack, even breaching my shielding several times."

"I am also able to cast the working to view past events in time, so we can always perform a group ritual if need be. So from what I'm hearing our first destination will be the the first victim's house, the home of Jose Alvarez. I should warn you that we left his corpse there and masked it to look like he died of a medical condition so as not to spawn an investigation of Sleeper authorities. I'm not sure if its been discovered or what condition the house is in."

"I can drive, if you like, but my car only fits four comfortably. It's only a few blocks south of here though."

However they can, the group need only make their way the short distance to the address Truce provides. Truce will escort the Magi to his car or will accompany the others in one of their vehicles or by foot after locking up the Sanctum.

Since the distance traveled is only 2 miles (7 minute drive), shall we do a new scene or continue as is?

Brother Rat scrunches up his nose at the idea that this might be an Abyssal thing. It wasn't something they could afford to dismiss out of hand though.

"Okay, then it's probably going to be easier if I cast the spell on one of you so you can translate." Their half of the spellwork seemed a whole lot more complicated than his half, so it didn't make sense to him to add more complication to it for his benifit. "But yeah, I'm all for sticking together." This wasn't an episode of Scooby Doo.

"Jaysus," is Brother Rat's only response to a coconut-sized spider. He pulls out his phone. "Let me have the number and I can try to look it up before we go, and at the second house I can cast the translation spell before I call it. If the phone there rings that will answer that question. I can drive a some of us over and we can park around the corner, just so two cars don't pull up and look suspicious."

The group begins heading out, meeting up a few minutes later at the house. It is the early afternoon, and the windows are closed. The lawn is short and brown, much shorter than when Truce was here before.
Brother Rat's reverse lookup reveals that it is owned by MGH near Sacramento.

They'll all fit in Truce's car. Or their own.

His old sport bike's seen better days, and the missing fairings make it look more skeletal and even domestic than the euro that it is. For anyone that's got an ear for for the roar of a properly tuned crotch rocket, it's well taken care of.

Right. Take the helmet off. Even if it makes someone look Totally Awesome. Like Daft Punk or Tron awesome.

"This it? Who else lives here? Unless, like, there's a yard service. Anyone check the mailbox? What if someone's home?"

The questions stream out as eyes scan for stray newspapers or other signs of life.

Brother Rat slips his phone back into a pocket. Throwing "MGH + Sacramento" into google suggested Mercy General Hospital, and the idea of body snatching spiders infesting a hospital made his blood run cold.

Once The Last Starfighter suggested someone look in the mailbox, Brother Rat heads over to do so. He also casts up a spell to let him know when people and spiders are nearby.

There are spiders somewhere around here. Several dozen of them in fact, all around you. There are also people, only 3 of them, two of them for sure is not in the house, the other one is hard to say exactly. make a Wits+composure-2

When you look around, and really focus, you can see several small spiderwebs in bushes, trees, and along some of the fences in the area.

As they arrive, Faye takes a few moments to reach out to Time to wrap her in its protection. That done, she'll exit the car.

She nods when Star mentions the yard. Either someone still lived here, or there was the yard service. Eyes look around the front of the house, looking specifically at the windows for any movement.

"Hmm," she says, "I can always go knock, I have the whole social thing down pretty good. Maybe Star can go with me, see if anyone answers before we nose around too much."

Brother Rat brushes his hands around himself, as one does when they walk into a spiderweb they didn't see. "Bleh," he spits into the grass. "God, there's spiders all over the place. And feels like three living human patterns nearby. One in the house, I think." He stresses that last word as he gestures to their destination home. "You work on getting access, I'll check the gauntlet out."
