(Case Study) Debrief

The hands of the clock continued to move, slowly jolting onward and onward, spasming into position again and again, until, with a stutter, the hour hand final landed up Three and the minute hand found the 12. It was 3 AM, and sunrise was only a hint over three hours off. For, as creatures that demanded darkness to survive, they knew when the star of the morning would rise.

Alessandra , wounded and yet triumphant after daring Torpor for the second time, had been loose in the strange complex held by the strangely well funded monsters in human clothing, waiting for her companions to find their way back from the grip of the Beast.

Twist had come back to herself, freed from the grip of mindless, animalistic terror, hiding in the shattered remains of a stairwell not far from the clinic. The building and the streets around her were utterly quiet, all except for the moaning of the wind through empty windows and cracked walls. The Kine had retreated even deeper into their makeshift shelters like rabbits that had scented wolves upon the wind. Yet, perhaps they had done more than just scent, however, for she could scent blood on the air.

Kenneth Gilroy similarly came back into his flesh, though for the Prince Beneath the Streets there was no mystery. Blood had run down to cover the front of his shirt, the fabric heavy and slick against his scrawny chest, and yet he felt well sated. Trapped in a room with three, slowly fading lives, the Beast had fed well. So, stinking of death and the scent of spilled veins, he looked up at the clock on the wall, and at the various cases and equipment scattered around the room, he realized that there was still much left to discover, and still some hours of the night left should he wish to sate his curiosity.

Ale would have spent her time looking for more information about who or what had run this place. Anything she can gather will be passed on to the Reeve.

She will then unlock(if she could have locked it) and cross her fingers that Kenneth has come to his senses. The evil daystar was coming, and she'd rather not leave him.

[Twist]

Spitting out a string of Italian cusses Twist took a moment to take stock of herself and her equipment. Pulling out her phone, she will punch out a brief text to her former companions before heading back toward the clinic the moment she gets her bearings.

So long as the building wasn't on fire or crawling with Kine she was heading back in. To hopefully find the others as well as finishing the job if they hadn't already.

While she isn't going to make her way skipping down the side street, she is also moving briskly with more emphasis on speed rather than stealth.

Inside the clinic, Alessandra found many of the doors to be sealed, sturdy electronic locks keeping the doors firmly shut against their heavy steel frames. However, not all of the doors were locked, the trail of 'bread crumbs' that had led Kenneth into the concrete bowels of the complex revealing several rooms with filing cabinets and computers, all likely stocked full of information. Whether or not that information would actually be useful, well, that would require more careful examination. Examination that would require more time than they had. Still, they now had a van in addition to their vehicles, so transporting any of their finds for later inspection should prove to be no problem at all.

Everyone should give me wits+investigation to search the premises for information! A teamwork roll would be a great tactic

As for Kenneth Gilroy , he was feeling much restored, his body filled with enough blood to seal the hole in his throat without descending once more into starvation. So when the door trapping him inside the room was unlocked, intelligibility was no longer barred from him.

Meanwhile, Twist was making her way back down into the complex, this time through the strangely accessible front door, which had been left ajar and unlocked. A trail of blinking green lights led her onward, just as they had Kenneth, and before long, with only one direction to go in, the elder kindred found herself reunited with her companions inside the heart of the complex.

Kenneth pushed back to the surface. He felt like he should be breathing heavily but he couldn't bring himself to pretend to be that human. Instead he surveyed his handiwork with morbid curiosity and mortification.

His phone beeped, bringing him out of his... revery, if you could use that word for the contemplation of killing people. He flinched, and started to reach for his phone, then stopped when he saw how much blood was on them. He started to wipe them off on his clothes, but those were soaked as well. Some it was already clotting and turning brown. The worm pulled out his cell and wiped off the screen (for it too had blood on it). It didn't do much good. He replied, a film of red clouding the letters.

Finally he stood. Hand now going to his throat. IN his throat! He knew he should feel like gagging but the reflex wasn't there. Consciously moving the new warm blood into place, he felt his larynx knit itself closed. The Haunt did manage to shudder at that. Though the effects of the curse were just as likely the culprit.

He turned toward the sound of the door opening, hunching low in preparation for a further fight. Fortunately (though the instincts disagreed) it was Alessandra. He straightened, though not entirely, and cracked his neck.

"We need to search the premises," his voice was still hoarse "and take the insect predator; her," he pointed at the shark woman "and him," now to the man with the discolored skin on the back of his neck. He couldn't say their names just now, so soon after draining their vital fluids "And anything else that might be of interest of a Breach."

Twist saw the form of Alessandra in the door way and making sure to step loudly enough to make the other Kindred aware of her presence before she was within striking distance. Peering around Alessandra into the blood covered room she took in the sight without a word. Spotting the man she had initially aimed at she stepped around Alessandra and carefully making her way to him, she attempted to locate her knives.

There was after all, no call for abandoning good throwing knives.

"The bodies will require a vehicle," she glanced at Kenneth not verbally stating that he would too. There was no way he could walk through even these streets without drawing attention to himself.

"Let us be quick about searching," she agreed distantly as she again scanned the room... attempting to count the bodies.

It was a relief to see Kenneth had returned to his senses, and she nods.

Hearing the noise behind her, she whips around, her body tensing for another enemy. But thankfully, it was Twist.

“There is that van they had. That should hold the bodies and anything else we can grab. There are some files and computers that we should try and grab too. That way we can try and figure out who the hell they are and what they know.”

"We'll use the van until we can get to my station wagon. The van might be traceable, if they are part of a larger organization." They certainly seemed well equipped for a small group after all.

"I have a body bag and several heavy blankets in my car. Once we've finished searching we can load the van, then change to the car," he said, his voice becoming clearer and clearer as he spoke, the blood pooling around his neck before solidifying into flesh.

I guess since Twist said she was assisting, Kenneth will lead. I only added Twist's assistance on the first roll

It was impossible to get a good idea of the size of the complex that had been built beneath the clinic due to the small corridor of unlocked rooms to which the Kindred still had access to, but even so, there was much to be found within the blood stained storage room the operatives had led Kenneth and Alessandra to, as well as the various filing cabinets, refrigerators, and computers in the other accessible rooms. Or, so it appeared at first. Once Twist and Kenneth began to search through the other rooms it became apparent that the paper files left in cabinets were mostly bureaucratic nonsense, and anything of value had been culled, likely scanned, and then shredded. Similarly, the hard drives within the complex's various computers had been entirely bricked, and nothing could be retrieved from them. The refrigerators were filled with expired samples and common medical compounds. Even the fridge which had contained the strange, anti-Torpor serum didn't contain much more than blood that was about to go, and the remaining serum would expire before the night was out.

Which left the Kindred with the various cases that the operatives had compiled within the storage room, as well as the bodies of the operatives themselves. The cases contained other drives, as well as a few paper files, and this combined with the ability to perform autopsies on the operatives bodies would likely divulge some fascinating details about all that had happened.

Quickly loading the van full of their evidence, and then transferring that evidence to Kenneth's car proved no difficulty, and before long the Kindred were driving away from the facility, and the bloodshed that had occurred within it's walls. Perhaps even more bloodshed than the Kindred had yet witnessed...

Where are the Kindred going to go to examine this evidence? And don't forget Twist , you have a comatose but living Clayborn in your custody!
