It is not very extensive, the list of goods needed for the summer solstice. At once both the simplest and one of the more important of Crone rituals. There can be no slacking when it comes to the sharpness of the silver knife. A small whetstone helps ensure that there will be no miscuts. These are people's eyes after all.
David looks though, for the main event, the sacrifice. The people of this city have been too long without the Crone's attention or her guidance, so this sacrifice must rectify both.

David doesn't look for tags when he found the dog in one of the alleys. Catching it required a bit of vampiric effort, but after a while the dog learned who was master and who was not. It doesn't seem to like David all that much, but after a couple of baths, the black labrador is clean and presentable. A meal of beef and chicken, raw and cold from the butcher seem to delight the creature. To fill this creature with trash would be unacceptable. David spends several days picking up poop and dealing with the dog's urine. If it were a pet these would be problems to be corrected. The concern of anxiety or adjusting to a new environment.
David does not care. He wipes up the latest offering with a paper towel. It has been enough time, the animal is clean, and the time is right.
Its time to celebrate the solstice.
