(1605) Eternal Seasons

[Lynn Mills]

Pushing open a door leading into the Rose Garden, Lynn made her way out into the Garden itself, pausing a moment to lay a gentle finger on one of the colorful blossoms hanging from over head. It was certainly a wonderful way to celebrate the season and very privately, she had to admit to a craving for the wild colors that were shown.

As she entered the Garden, she smiled around at everybody present so far, relieved to see that they all seemed to be content to amuse themselves so far. Her absence could certainly have seemed rude or conceited, but she'd been held up with some last minute details. Wandering through the Garden, she smiled at everybody she passed, pausing to stop for a moment if they looked like they had something on their minds. But in the end it was clear that she was making her way towards her new Emissary.

"Excuse me, Juno? When you have a few minutes, I'd appreciate a private conversation. I've got a project that I'd like you to consider."

"I think that we tend to be attracted to jobs that we had before we were taken; I know I was," Terri replied, before continuing. "I was a personal trainer and after coming back, fell back into the same role. It was only after I decided that I'd been given a second chance that I really thought I could do anything I wanted, and as corny as it sounds, I could follow my dreams. Hence, raiment."

The cool breeze that entered the Rose Garden caught Terri's attention and she offered the Emerald Queen a small bow of respect as her position demanded, and watched silently behind her sunglasses as Lynn asked to speak with Juno in private.

Juno was readying a response when her Queen approached the small group. She gave her head a polite inclination of respect and Feline Gravitas, then, "It is a pleasure to see you today, my Queen; has all been well with you in your new duties? As it is your pleasure, how may I serve?"

Lynn waited a few moments for Juno to make her way over before speaking in a low tone.

"I actually have two matters which I wished to speak with you about. The first is completely up to you - I've come to realize that we are rather short of doctors or Healers at the moment. As the only other Spring with sufficient strength, I was hoping you would consider learning Spring's gift of Healing, if you haven't already. Please understand that it's completely up to you, not everybody is drawn to the same path."

"As for the second matter. The local Market and community in the Hedge has recently become aware of the Freehold here in such a manner that they will mostly likely not be leaving us alone." A brief grimace drew her mouth to the side as she remembered the near disastrous attempt to retrieve Mrs. Rosemary. "Since we can no longer hope to be ignored, it's been suggested that we should start looking for trading partners, contacts, and resources in the Market. Of all of the Courts, Spring seems to be the best at well….making new friends; in such a way that they're going to stay friends." She folded her hands in front of her and nodded at her courtier. "As my Emissary, I'd like you to look into making contacts with the Market, perhaps figuring out a trading agreement or at least getting us a few people who would look on Sacramento favorably."

Lynn smiled at Juno and then around at the rest of the group. "Things have been . . . complex; in a way that I don't believe I appreciated before. Thank you all, for taking the time to join us today." She gestured around them at the Garden.

"I'm very sorry to interrupt; I'll only need to borrow Juno for a short time."

Taking a few steps away, Lynn lowered her voice enough to not intrude on other's conversations.

The Manticoress gave a slight nod and a wave to her conversational partners before joining her Sovereign in a more private location that hopefully was far enough away for the avoidance of ear hustling if the situation was truly a grave or scandalous one.

Juno listened to her Queen as she spoke, the Manticoress working through the nature of the dual request. She could remember...sort of...Doctor Jack and his ministrations for the inhabitants of the Freehold. Lynn was right -- a healer was quite literally worth their weight in gold and the more the better with what came of the lives that the Lost led -- and since Juno's own ties to the Season and the Wyrd were strong it would be a travesty to allow such connections to not realize their potential. Juno knew that such a thing had to be done with intent and the proper approaches. But then a Feline was about protocol.

"I am willing to take up the lessons that would benefit the Freehold, My Queen. That is a project I am looking forward to engaging with; may the Wyrd smile on my efforts favorably."

Her tail curled slightly. The business of going into the hedge, let alone stepping foot into the Market proper, just made her rows of sharp teeth itch. Still, the request was in play and if she didn't make the attempt, then what sort of Sylvan Emissary would she be to shirk her duties and the Queen's bidding?

"My Queen. I am willing to serve as the face and negotiator for the Freehold's well-being, but I must be honest. The last trip I made to those environs was on a hunt for Peter Milford, which was a couple of years prior to my taking leave of Sacramento for a time. My knowledge of the area is a limited one. As I step foot into the Hedge, it would be....no, I would be...comfortable to have a companion who knows the ins and outs of that territory. If I may, who would be a good and steady presence on this journey, that I may approach him or her for their aid?"

A quick grin twisted Lynn's lips as she thought. Someone who knew their way around the Hedge was easy enough. Even somebody who'd be good at keeping a group of people safe. But steady? That would be a rather harder personality trait. Tapping her fingers in front of her lips, Lynn thought for a moment before nodding.

"I would suggest approaching Daniel and seeing if he'd be willing to accompany you. He's already traveled into the Hedge once and retrieved something for the Freehold. He's a steady presence and somebody you'd be good to have by your side. I'd also recommend approaching Ramona and asking for somebody to act as an escort." She nodded at Juno. "I don't expect you to come back with an agreement this first time. But I do think we need to start making inquires."
