"We'll back you up. Show you that we're on the same side," Avis agreed, deciding that she'd take a back seat and go along with Star's call. He was better at getting people to see things in certain ways, after all. If this what what he thought would work best then she wouldn't sabotage him. The will listen was at the heart of every conversation, and without conversation, an ideological war devolved into bloodshed.

Trust isn't won. But, there's a working agreement and that means just as much. The three of the college-students look at each other. Each one waiting to see if someone has an objection and when there isn't, the lead girl nods. “Alright, get us over the fence.” She tells the guy with them, who immediately starts to mesh his hands to help the group fling themselves over.

Let's go” The lead girl tells the rest of them before she steps on the hands and swings herself over the fence. The other girl too, follows suit.

The young man, looks over at the Threats with an expectation that they'll want help over too.

Body types say a lot. The young man is an athletic build; strong arms and good structure. From a glance, he probably plays – or played – basketball. From that, he adopts a strong, team-oriented posture.

July wasn't known for joy. Maybe a little when it came to fighting or Varyx, but not generally. He was pleased with her response though, partially because it fit their plan and partially because it felt like his fate spell had taken hold. Things were working out. He just hoped the other shoe wouldn't drop soon. He looked between Avis and Star before saying, "sounds like a good plan," to the girl.

He was Doorwarden, so he figured it'd be smart to jump the fence with their new 'allies' first. He walked over to the athletic young man and offered a friendly nod. His suspicions weren't gone, not by a long shot, but this was what VT was going to do anyway so why fight it. With the young man's help July flung himself over the fence and waited on the other side for Avis and Star, keeping an eye out for any problems.

"I'm good," Avis said to the young man, approaching the fence and setting her hands and feet to climbing over it herself.

    "Me too. Go ahead."

It's only paranoia if you don't do anything about it. Then it's just Being Prepared. It's like that riddle about getting the fish, cat, and dog across the river in a boat for two -- except more like getting The Team over the fence with minimal exposure.

He'd wait until July was all the way over before he started to climb. Nothing amiss? Then follow suit.

It looks a lot like any other stereotypical backyard. There's a grill – most likely got from Wal-Mart, on sale. There's a hose that is loosely coiled on the ground. A free standing tent, peaked around some tacky plastic chairs. It's pretty apparent that no set-designer or IKEA interior decorator was around to make sure that the frat didn't embarrass themselves when faced with people breaking into their house.

The nerdier girl settles, eye level, to the lock. It's a french door-screen over solid glass and she studies the door.

Above, on the second floor there's a few darkened bed-room windows. One is open, letting in a cool breeze. The rest aren't.

Can you break the lock on door?” The lead girl asks.

Might be faster if we break it.

Fine,” lead girl says trying her fist against the screen then rooting around in her pockets for a bobby pin. Bobby-pins unlock locks, right? “Unless you need my Student ID...

With neither of the students aware of what the Threats can do, their minds immediately move to the mundane way of dealing with things; rather than with their Awakened Wills. It shows how little they've come without masters and only the blind-leading-the-blind, groping in the dark for understanding.

    48 Hours, wake up, Matrixchild

It almost feels like a college prank.

Fumbling into a frat house at night? All that's missing is cans of spray paint and toilet paper. Or apparently lock-picks. Break a lock? Says a lot. But that's just a drop in the bucket of the Fact-Finding. Content to let The Kids Do Their Thang, the Eye settled his Eyes on the ringleader.

Sure, July could ask for Star for the same assistance Arthur had given him in the past and just silently shoot off the lock, but the 'resistance' was an unknown quantity and learning was more important that doing at the moment. They clearly knew something about the group, even if they didn't have our names for them, so why spook them yet.

He decided to hold off on assisting with the lock and instead scouted out the backyard. Maybe there would actually be something more useful than bobby pins.

If the kids wanted to take charge, then great, Avis would let them.

With eyes open, Star gives the ringleader a through once over. The lead girl who steps aside, along with the nerdier looking girl who fumbles with the locks. The nerdier girl has trembling hands, adrenaline shooting through her body and making her fine-motor skills.

July steps to the side, glancing at the exterior. It's nothing special, grass is green but patchy from the drought and a lack of care. You won't find the frat seeding, weeding, and watering the lawn. There's a couple of cars nearby in the driveway, but there's not a whole lot of movement in the first floor.

Upstairs is a bit of a different story. A light goes on on the left side.

Star sees a weak aura, she isn't a powerful Awakened to be sure. Someone like Aquinas would be akin to a lighthouse in the dark where this girl's aura is little more than a flashlight piercing the tangible darkness.

The Nerdier girl drops the lock-picks after fumbling with it. Awakened they may be, but they are still new to the whole thing and concerned with making their home safe. Ringleader glances at July, “Cowboy, can you crack the lock?

Because, that's July's name now: Cowboy.
