Green stirred.
"Yeah. Kitchen. Restaurant. Uhm... You mentioned a basement, yeah?"
The mountain was looking to move once more. Besides, there was something... unbecoming... of rifling through someone's collection of Sorrows. If there was anything unusual in the collection of things left behind in storage, they would learn of it the moment they inventoried the place.
Assuming they bought it.

Evelynn looked up at the sound of Arthur calling out about the pin, looking, for a moment, like she thought she'd been caught doing something she wasn't supposed to. But once her mind caught up with what he said, she realized he was offering it to her. And that it hadn't belonged to his wife. A woman who had stayed here disappeared without it. It had the touch of the Wyrd on it. She swallowed hard, trying to stop her mind from racing in the least pleasant direction, but that was like trying not to think of a purple elephant. Impossible.
She poked her head back out of the office and came back out, pocketing the brooch on the way. There'd be time to look at that later. For now... "I'd really like to see the restaurant and kitchen," she said, her voice somewhat meek as she added her vote to the group.
Arthur
“Sure, sure.” Nodding to the group.
“Basement, yes.” Snapping a finger in memory, he turned and grabbed his set of keys from his pocket. Then proceeding to walk to the basement door and unlocked it, just as the main line to the hotel rang.
“You guys seem okay. Go ahead and wander through the rest of the place. I have to take this call.” The old gentleman didn’t seem particularly in a eager hurry to answer the phone. “Excuse me.” And walked into the office to take the call, instead of the front desk.
L’aire
“Oh, that was kind of him.” The Fairest said in a grateful tone as he walked away.
“So which do we want to look through first? It doesn’t matter to me.”
She heard him begin speaking to whoever was on the phone. It was definitely someone familiar, and by the sounds of it, they hadn’t talked in a very long while.
“Maybe the basement first?” The Onyx then quietly whispered. “So we can talk?”

"Sure." Green rumbled as he began to move with his customary ponderous tread. "I think I've seen enough. In my mind at any rate."
His eyes flickered to Evelynn.
"Maybe we'll check out the kitchen along the way."

Daniel nodded to L'aire's suggestion. The kitchen could be interesting but it was probably a good idea to talk privately while they could.
"Yeah, let's see the basement."

Evelynn smiled up at the giant's offer to check on the kitchen on the way, appreciating his inclusion of her. She still felt a little strange about this whole thing - three people here who were quite central to the Freehold's community, as far as she could tell, and brand new Evelynn. She had to admit, she felt a bit like she was an impostor among them, like her voice shouldn't carry the same weight. So, Green's pointed response to her request mattered to her... even if she rather agreed with L'aire and Daniel about finding a place to talk openly first.
"Maybe along the way back," she answered, smiling brightly and opening the basement door and searching for a light switch.
Within the basement, it was not like one would expect most basements to be. It was unfinished, concrete was cold and there were two drains in the floor. There were the makings of walls, which were the tresses and thick columns of wood to hold up the two floors above them. Along the walls, it was wall to wall shelving. Some of it stopping to let the small windows bring in light. They were not egresses, which were now necessary for building code, should anyone live below.
If one of them were to look closely, on one wall, toward the back, there was a set of shelving that only held light items. There were no windows along this particular wall. The basement served as a larger pantry, the smell of onions, potatoes and some vegetables wafted through the air, no smell of mold or rot, but a sign that there use to be substantial produce kept below. There were canned goods that trickled along the shelves now, places where it was empty. Each wall shelf had wood behind it, most likely for added stability. Toward the interior wall of the basement, another shelf held paper plates, napkins, cups and a few other things.
The interior, and free standing, but ceiling secured shelves once held a stores worth of liquor. Now, there were only traces in the dust that lovely bottles use to sit on these shelves. On one side, a large rack used to store wine was secured and many bottles remained. Most of them from the local winery, but several from Napa Valley.
Wits+Per - 1-3 will notice something peculiar about the shelf on the far wall. 4, 5, will notice the shelf with the paper ware is also strange.

Green ducked low to avoid dashing his head on the ceiling and twisted his titanic form so that he could fit. Gemstone eyes rove once across the large room before locking onto the shelving at the far wall.
"Ah. Yeah. Someone take a look at those shelves," he uttered as he extended an arm.
He made no move to shuffle deeper into the cellar, hanging around the stairwell.

"So, so far it looks nice," Daniel commented as they descended. While it couldn't match the number of rooms at the Boarding House, the restaurant at the Rose Garden, or the bar at either the Blue Note or Forge, it did offer all those things in one sorta out-of-the-way place
He noticed the same thing as Green about the back shelf and casually made his way across the room to check it out. The smell of root vegetables definitely made it feel like they were in a cellar below ground.
"We still have to check the backyard though," he went on as he poked around the basement. They were talking mostly privately but there was still a norman just upstairs. "Did we want to do that now?" With Arthur on the phone, it could offer a chance for a couple of them to pop over to the Hedge without arousing suspicion. They could just claim they had been wandering around like he had suggested. It would mean opening a Door in the basement though. It might be better to hold off and explore the house and surrounding area more to find the optimal location to put an entrance to another world.

Evelynn followed the others downstairs and was immediately taken aback by the earthy smell of potatoes and onions. The place looked like a basement, to her. Nothing of particular interest, besides the fact that there was obviously some decent storage here.
She turned and blinked in confusion at Green when he mentioned the shelves. Why, did he think they were about to fall over? Nothing on it seemed heavy enough to be a risk, but she wandered over to take a look nonetheless. She was certain there were things here that would need to be repaired. Arthur seemed to take good care of things, but in a building as old as this one, it wasn't a knock on him and his work to think that there would be parts of the place in need of some care.
