Returning to Natomas

It's a far cry from the rain-slicked ground that reflected the lights of police blues and blood reds. The House stands empty, ostracized from the rest of the neighborhood. By now, the crime-scene cleaners, ServPro, have already swept in. All of the windows are shut closed and the front door has a key-box adding a flimsy layer of protection for the House itself.

Even neglected, the lawn has grown a little unruly. Weeds have already begun to reclaim the front lawns. The couple next door have put their own house for sale and don't seem to be home at the moment, either.

Months from the murder, the legacy can be felt and a strange desolate sense has embedded itself into the air. An infestation of dread and fear that has wedged itself into the landscape; pushing everyone else away.

Before leaving July wanted to make sure he was ready, so he imagined the Imago of his spells and put them in place, readying himself. Once they'd gotten to the address Star gave them he looked around, noticing all seemed quiet. Looking to the house, in the slight protection of his car, he whispered the words and reached out again to Fate to give them good luck in getting into the house. He hoped Fate would provide him with a way in or atleast the opportunity to seize his own destiny without making too much noise or destruction. He then looked to Arthur and said, "I guess let's see what we're working with," as he went to get out of the car.

"A creepy ass house." Arthur mutters quietly in reply before forming an Imago of sight and shield. Chanting quietly in the car Arthur pushes will onto the Lie. As the Lie gives if only for a time, Arthur steps out of the car and closes the door behind him.

"How close do you need to be to do your thing?" A hand flexes as Arthur gauges fear and anxiety rolled into one. Then asks quieter. "Also back door or try with that locokbox?"

July had zoned out in thought when Arthur pulled him back. Not good for an investigation. "Probably best to check the back door, and it'll be easier if I'm in the house. Let's head over and see what we find." He hoped as they got closer fate would guide him. If not he could always go with the trusty 'break a little window to unlock the door'.

With that July stepped out of the vehicle and headed towards the house, looking for an easy way in.

"Following you." Arthur replies with a nod as he follows July towards the house. Hands curl and uncurl as Arthur tries to focus and push the anxiety down. This isn't as much fun as it sounded like it would be. No wonder the Arrow are the ones who handle this shit. Ok what can be useful?

"With some time I can handle sounds. Ah, ever opened one of those keybox things? I can think of brute forces ways but nothing easier."

Even with his anxieties, the world around Arthur flares to life. The warmth of the day sinks into his being, the buzz of electricity sprints across wires, the quiet hush of nearby radio-waves sounds like the ocean in his ears. Even the pulses of energy in his own body tingles at the tips of his toes and fingers. Kinetic, mighty truth opens for Arthur to see.

Arthur knows immediately that the electricity to the Murder House no longer runs and the House is just as dead as a rapidly cooling body.

Quickly swallowed by the pitch black, July and Arthur make their way towards the back door. Unfortunately for July, being so used to the Justice side of the Law, he doesn't find a quick way inside. None of the windows seem open and he only finds locked doors he can't make heads or tails about picking locks and Realtor lock boxes. He is in luck though.

Doors have a lot of variety but back-doors are part of a family. Fronted by a storm-door, the backdoor is a normal door with 9 tiny squares of glass. It'd be a bitch to replace.

"Let's look around first. We'll come back to the box if we have to," he said as they headed to the back door. Once he got to the back yard he was slightly disappointed. He had hoped that some secret subtle place would stand out to him, but he guessed his mind just didn't think like that. Then his eyes feel to the back door with it's friendly little windows. A smirk appeared on his face. "You say you can control sound? Make a bubble around the door so I can get us in." No need to wake the neighbors, if any were around..

"Hmmmmmm" Even if it is all a Lie it still feels amazing. The raw truth of the world always there waiting to be seen. It's almost tempting to find a Sleeper and see how they'd react. Truth that most only pray for.

Sticking close to July, Arthur nods after the Guardians asks his question. "Yep, gimme a moment." Fingers splay and quickly twist back together as the Imago pushes down onto reality.

"You're good, also there's no power to the house. So hopefully no alarms?"

3 suxx to Influence Sound to deaden noise coming from the door

July waited for confirmation that the spell was active, though of course he felt the recognizable tingle just before Arthur spoke. It was good he waited because hearing that the power was out in the building made July more confidence that they'd be okay with breaking in.

"Good to hear," he said as July thrust the back of his pistol at the window, but it didn't break. Confusion popped up on his face as he tried again, but again no dice. Anger flared up inside of him. No way some damn window was going to get between him and confirming the murderer. Remembering that the bubble would probably shield most sound July said, "Fuck it." He looked to Arthur and said, "might want to cover your ears," and fired his handgun right through the window and into the house before reaching his hand in and unlocking the door.

Once it was open he stepped inside and had a quick look around, checking for any signs of clues the cleaners may have left.
