Gabrielle help an eye on the crowd, to check for reaction and whether they like the poetry or not. While she does that, she kept socializing with her fellow kindred as to not attract attention to their dealing. The poets were quite interesting, especially since she was Carthian and that the artists were quite opposed to the establishment.

Martha smiles and listens as Richard and Gaby chat. She offers a cheery wave to Richard, seeming to find a mutual joy in meeting him.

Nodding, she seems to agree with Gaby.

As Boff battles it out, Martha smiles to Richard and, while Gaby checks out the crowd, Martha sneaks a swift look to watching how the jeans hug to Gaby's thighs.

But these subtle looks at Gaby are soon abandoned once the electric charge fires through the crowd as the poets offered their wisdom.

She offered her applause at an appropriate time and hooked her cane over her arm.

    Her small hands grip her cane and, with wide eyes, she offers;
"Goodness! It's like... like William Burroughs battling it out with Gil Scot-Heron..." she offered to Richard and Gaby, hoping to encourage their views on the social critique offered.

The two poets take the stage and Richard adjust his position in the seat to bring the stage into center view, when the crowd began to applaud he brings his hands together and follows suit, it was important to him that he immediately starts to acclimate himself to his surroundings in this particular venue, it was like trying the place on for size and seeing if it fit comfortably. Not long after the poets take their first pause Martha speaks up, comparing the duo to two men, only one he recognized, "Gil Scot-Heron, now thats a name I haven't heard in a long while. You have exquisite taste Martha"

She listened to the other kindred comments on poetry. She had a lot to learn about english-speaking arts.

"I am not familiar with the names you describe."

Said Gabrielle with a slightly more exaggerated french accent than usual.

"I am more geared towards poetry from my country land, Appolinaire, Baudelaire ... that sort of things. Still it is interesting to hear about those presented here, if only to improve my english and hear ideas from a different culture than my own."

While talking, she kept an eye on the crowd, measuring their reaction to the art being displayed here and taking mental notes of what moves this particular class of people in Sacramento....

Both Boff and his rival are ideal examples of the urban poet. Boff, though, has the edge and the charisma. The crowd is enchanted by the literary duel, absorbed as surely as if they pair wove dark disciplines of their own. The event is all the more remarkable because while the crowd is fixated on the stage, another group has their eyes and minds turned to the canvases positioned upon the walls.

It is only with the climax of the duel that the two groups begin to mingle once more.

A flurry of movement at the entrance: a glut of late comers - including a pair that definitely turn heads and set conversations buzzing at tables and booths and shaded corners. Marvin Stax and associate have made their appearance! Already, they are part of the dance; their goal is obvious - a selection of paintings in a tastefully lit area, the largest of which is most definitely modelled on the pre-raphaelite movement.

Hearing Richard's positive reaction brought a shy smile to Martha. "Thank you!" she chirped eagerly and rubbed meekly at her crippled thigh. Leaning on her cane, she nodded to Gaby in agreement; "Well, Baudelaire was a fine poet... Of that there can be little doubt." she sounded sincere.

Before Martha could expand on any thesis, she might have wished to expand on comparing the urban experiences of the 19th and 21st century's as seen through the eyes of radical poets the sudden flurry of activity caught her attention.

    "I say!"
she couldn't have sounded any more English, bright eyed, Martha nodded towards the gathering near the paintings, "Look at those!" she sounded "Goodness, Surely that paint work follows the essence of the Pre - Raphelite Movement?" she gasped. "I..." she was about to add something unwise. Catching herself, Martha gripped her cane and waited to see how Richard and Gaby reacted to the sudden influx of people and, more importantly, to the arrival of Mr Stax... "Sh...sh...should we investigate...?" she asked timidly.

For awhile Richard focuses his attention on the poets who he admits are keeping him for the most part entertained with their performance, though he was never much for poetry persay, Richard was far more moved by tangible works of art, with music being the exception. In his opinion the most stimulating pieces of art where the ones that you could see with your own two eyes.

He over hears the name Stax over the crowd enough times to gather than the entourage that had just walked in where the marks that he'd heard about. Even if he hadn't though he would have probably been able to guess, there was something about the atmosphere of the ground that seemed to shift post their arrival.

The soft spoken Martha Villers suggest investigating Mr.Stax, leaving Richard curious as to her reasons for why. Once again, he knew why he was here and what sort of pay out was in store if he could find himself alone in a hall way or dark corner with the rich fuck. But that didn't explain Martha's motivations for wanting to make Mr.Stax the center of their attention. Either way he goes along with the idea that would suit both his agenda, to perhaps dip into the pockets of a kine whom had more than enough, and to find out more about what made the individual kindred of this city tick. He answers tiny Martha, firm and resolute, "Yes, let's"

Gabrielle had a slightly surprised expression when Martha announced she wanted to know more about Stax but that didn't last. As he seemed to be a big shot here, it might be both prudent and useful to learn more about their intended.

"Sounds like a plan. Shall we mingle with the rest of the people in order to do that?"

Also, she was curious whether it would be possible to find some buyers for some of her future works. Also, the crowd certainly seemed to think Stax was a big mover and shaker here in the Molotov as shown by the whispering of the people when he entered the room. Do rich people blood tastes better she wondered for a moment ?

The Kindred move and mingle, closing with ease on the artistic display. Stax and his associate remain stymied, accosted by glitterati (the real, the fake and the wannabe) and the like: all the trio can tell is that the associate wares a hat and Stax has mullet harking back to the 1980s.

Dark Souls - the Beast - stirs in the trio, even from such a small glimpse: a sudden shock, a surging pressure behind the eyes; acid in the throat; movement of fang.

The artwork is of mixed styles, mostly on small canvasses. The largest painting is modelled on the pre-Raphaelite style, depicting a woman combing out her long red hair by a mirror. The mirror reflects a twisted and distorted vision of her countenance - a lustful, fanged, monster in place of an ethereal beauty. This theme of duality, of beauty and monstrosity, is explored further in the other works to one degree or another. In one work, depicting a scene at a night club; the play of light and shadows has turned the energetic dance floor into a glimpse of hell. In another, a light throws the shadow of a woman across a wall - but her shadow is a twisted, monstrous, thing and completely at odds with her curvaceous figure.

If Gabrielle wishes to mingle, she may make [Manipulation + Socialise] to work the gathering for information. This may be an extended roll, as more successes will provide more information. Richard and Martha may also do this Chrisie SoraLow . And you may combine efforts with Teamwork if you so desire.

Gabrielle starts working the crowd and socialize with the kine present, to get a better feeling of what's involved in the Molotov currently. A flirty smile here, a friendly word there, and she hoped it would unlock the tongue of the mortals present to tell her more about what's going on, who's who and what's what ...
