Wonders of the past,future promises

Richelieu got to the address given to him by Miach. It was a nice museum with some fairly old pieces. Before he met his intended, the Mastigos took some time to inspect and appreciate the art that was on display at the time. Such marvels, a message from the past. Too bad the message was based on sleeper lies. Still, despite that, it removed nothing from their quality.

The mage continued his inspection of the museum, waiting for Miach to make an appearance. The fateful watch leader could take his time, Richelieu was enjoying his trip at the museum ....

The time he had set for the appointment being past, Miach was surprised that Gina hadn't sent Richelieu his way. It probably meant that the man was late, though it could also potentially mean that he had gone past her... To be on the safe side, the Acanthus went out of his office, and headed for the desk. Walking down the stairs, he spotted the Mastigos wandering. He seemed to enjoy himself, at least.

Since it wouldn't do for the Curator to break his own museum's silence, he quickly resumed his walk, heading straight for the newcomer. It was only once he had reached him that he talked to the man, keeping his voice to the levels expected in a museum.

"Hello, how are you ?" he asked, hoping he wouldn't startle the man. Startled and Mages didn't make for a good mix.

[Phoenix]

The mastigos turned towards the newcomer. Apparently the meeting was on.

"I am doing fine sir, just browsing the marvels being displayed in the museum. I may not be a specialist in those things but one does not need to be to appreciate the fine arts of the past. But where are my manners, allow me to introduce myself, officially this time. The name's Richelieu. Are you Miach?"

He watched if there were other sleepers in the room. Perhaps it would be better to move the conversation elsewhere.

"May I invoke privacy? I'd like to be able to talk to you freely."

That last part was said with a low voice so as to not have the mortals in the room listening to their conversation. Also, it might be possible that Miach got private offices in there.

[Miach]

"Yes, indeed." Miach answered the query about his identity. It was understandable that he'd have missed it in the chaos that had been the former Consilium. "To both questions." he added, chuckling slightly.

The tall Curator then headed silently toward offices on ground level. He was getting used to the Curator's office, but went instead toward the "Staff only" door. Passing by a couple of regular offices, he quickly brought them to a bland door that he opened, and behind which was a spare office prepared for just such meetings. It was nearly devoid of furnitures, and that suited him just fine. When meeting new mages, no distractions were needed.

Closing the door behind him, he went toward a coffee pot, and tilted his head. "Want some before we start ?" beside was a tray with plenty of sugar, and dehydrated cocoa.

When the Mystagogues proposed pouring coffee for him, the mastigos had only one response to that.

"Ahhhh, cafeine. How can I resist the offer? Yes, I would like some if you don't mind."

After Miach made the coffee and they both drink some, Richelieu could proceed further.

"I trust this is a place where we can talk freely? In that case, I'll be blunt and direct. I am a newcomer to the city. And it has been made clear to me that one needs to be part of a cabal to claim status in the city."

He paused for a moment, searching for words.

"As you are a member of a prominent one, even a leader of one itself, I felt the need to talk to you. To see If our mutual goals can be compatible and if we can be part of the same group. How about you tell me about yours?"

The ball was thrown and was now directly in Miach's side....

Helping the other Awakened to some coffee, Miach poured himself half a mug, filling the other half with cocoa and so much sugar one couldn't believe it would melt in the mix. Stirring it slowly and humming the smell, the Acanthus was leaned against the table, but his eyes were straight onto Richelieu.

"Our goals are pretty simple, really. That no threat to the Consilium go unaddressed, nor any crime unpunished. That no Recognized mage of the Consilium should find a closed door... and currently that means GLO first and foremost, to the best of our knowledge..." talk about bluntness...

[Phoenix]

He drank a bit of the coffee offered to him. Not bad but could use a little more 'punch' as far as he was concerned. Still, not bad coffee though.

"Ah yes, I've heard about the GLO. Not something I want to support to be honest. And, might I ask, what is your cabal currently doing about this issue? And how might a slightly experienced Mastigos help in this matter?"

Richelieu kept being direct and honest about what he said. If he was going to join a cabal, he wanted to make that it would make a mark and a good one upon the mage's territory.

[Miach]

While the truth was underwhelming, the Curator was duty bound to spread no falsehood. So be it, then.

"During the latest formal Consilium, we've been tasked with investigating about a number of known, or suspected Banishers. You know that the GLO business is run by Banishers, right ? To make things interesting, they are well-placed member in this city...

We're only in the planning phase, though." the truth was there, plain and simple. A task to be done, for those daring to attempt it.

[Phoenix]

"Yes I was aware of the Banisher involvement with GLO. Avis gave me the cliff notes on that."

Of course, the meeting between the mastigos could have gone better, especially where Avis and Balham were involved, but hey you can't win them all.

"I didn't know however that they were well established member of society. Though Avis certainly implied that. Do we have any clue to what sleeper circles those banishers might linked to? And what is being done to root them out?"

Richelieu was only moved by a desire to improve the consilium situation in the city which he hoped would be reflected in his words and intonation.

[Miach]

Sipping from his syrupy cappuccino, the Acanthus nodded to Richelieu, urging the man to state his level of knowledge. Once it was clear he had no specifics to provide, the Curator filled in the blanks for him.

"We have been tasked with finding more about Dr. Israels, Mr. Peter Dick, Professor Williams, and Provost Jennings. What I've been told is that they are all Admired by the local government. Dr Israels and Professor Williams are also Valued members of the Emergency Services groups..." he paused to let that sink. It had many ramifications.

"As for is being done, I can't say. I think that Veiled Threats may be onto that. As it is, we are to do intelligence services. But we're still in the planning phase..." with the implied invitation to come forth with proposals of his own, if he were interested.
