Apologies for the delay. Technical issues.Resisting: 1 successLynn's oratory is successful. She'll get the details she needs by the end of the scene, but I'm going to try to make this a little more... interesting.
"Husband, was it?" She hisses with relish as Lynn starts into her pitch. The little ghost girl in the yellow dress, half shadow and half smoke, begins drifting through the air, starting to circle Lynn the way a predator might circle prey. Behind her, she lunges forward, plunging one hand, suddenly a stark and clawed appendage, through Lynn's throat. It passes through the Steward without resistance, and all she can feel is a chill wind where the intangible appendage passes, no harm having come to her. The little girl withdraws her hand, normal fingers again, and examines it, snarling in frustration.
She tilts her head towards Lynn, though, unable to stop listening, if only with one ear. She turns towards Ava, where she splashes and panics, and giggles in delight as she retreats. "Yes. I know what you're afraid of. If only..." She turns back to Lynn, mirth fading, even as the minstrel finally makes her offer, and her demand. "If only you people hadn't killed me," she hisses, rage filling her expression. Her hands ball into fists, and fire seems to burn behind her eyes, "You idiots! You fucking idiots! You have no idea what you've done!" She raises a foot and stamps it down into empty air, yet Green and Lynn both feel a soft thump of pressure in their chest cavities. The girl at least appears not to have noticed. "I was so close, and you've ruined my work! Ruined my work and killed me! I was so close! Every day I was getting closer. If you would have just left me alone I might know by now! And you," she leans back, expression disgusted and haughty as she hovers higher, over Lynn, literally looking down her nose at the steward. "You don't even know. You don't even understand... And now you want all that I have left, and everything I've learned."
She is silent for several long, eerie moments. Deep in thought, but her angry gaze still directed at Lynn. "I hate you," she says at last. "I hate you. I hate you! I HATE YOU!" She leans forward and bellows "I HATE YOUUUUU!" Her face mere inches from Lynn's. She's breathing heavily, narrow-pupiled eyes locked on Lynn's, "... You want their names? Fine. But names have power. I'll give them all to you... If you give me yours. Your true name, and the name of this one," she leans back, displaying her chest, where a phantom copy of Coco's sword has appeared, embedded in her ghostly flesh.OOC
Green's investigation yields nothing of interest. Nothing beyond a can of dog food. The soft, wet kind. Who was this for? The Sandman himself, or his canine?Meanwhile, the water continues to slowly rise. It's beginning to spill out of the cavern and into the Hedge proper beyond, through which the light is shining.
