It's a bustling day at the Folsom Boulevard Flea Market this weekend. Bargain hunters jostle each other in search of any unclaimed treasures hidden among the usual useless crap on display. In addition to vintage clothing, used books, classic vinyl records, and other unusual oddities, savvy shoppers can sometimes find a precious rarity that they just can't live without... whether they know it or not. Welcome to Sacramento's largest flea market. Have a look around at what the dealers have on display. You just might find something that you didn't even know you were looking for... Buyer Beware!

Mask: He looks to be late teens or early twenties with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a kind face and an understanding look. When talking with him he is always engaged, nodding and giving indications he’s listening to you. His smiles have a melancholy to them, though.
Mein: His eyes and hair turn black beneath the mask. His skin becomes paler as if drained of color, giving him the slight appearance of a marble grave statue. Two stumps with tattered black feathers grow from his shoulder blades. They can be seen pressing at the back of his shirt. The odd feather pokes through holes. Most striking though, is that he is slightly transparent in an otherworldly way. His mantle manifests as wisps of fog and mist.

Daniel walked among the stalls in one of the outside aisles of the flea market, trying to stay in the shade of the colored tarps. Nominally he was there to look for new clothes. He'd gone through an inordinate amount of shirts lately. Ever since his wings had started to come in again. He probably really should be more worried about what that but all he really needed was clothes to replace the ones the sharp new feathers had destroyed. Any color would do... so long as it was black.

Tangentially he was there to see what else there was available. It was always hard to know what to expect at a market like this. From computer equipment to broken memories, they had it all. While he half hoped to find a motherboard that had no business being there, the other half of the reason the gravewight had come was to hear stories. How a locket had belonged to a duchess, or how this was their grandfather's fishing pole. Most were untrue but Daniel didn't really mind in this place. He liked to savor the remembrances, false or not. It was comforting in a way he couldn't really explain.

And who knew, maybe he would even actually buy something other than dark t-shirts.

Green prowls the edges of the market.

The big Elemental is taking advantage of the market to try and source some cheap clothing (not only for him; it is his responsibility to ensure the cottage network is adequately supplied should one - or all - of the Onyx to depart suddenly. A flea market makes excellent cover; no one care much what he buys and a simple story about "family" will be easily accepted. Some mundy's are canny buyers who hoard cheaply bought things and turn them into gold at the year's turning.

Of course, he also hunt for darker reasons. The scent of sorrow and regret hangs over such gatherings, where forgotten things and ownerless property is traded for a few tokens. Here - an old doll, aged well but worn: does anyone remember the two little girls who owned that doll or the half remembered tradition that saw it pass through three families before it wound up here lined up with a pile of broken barbie clones? There - a dog eared novel falling to bits, barely worth a penny: on the inside cover one can see it was passed from mother to daughter and they both died young from the same congenital disease.

Its not the people Green is here to harvest, its the objects.

He is also here to watch. Mundy's are blind, see. You never know who else has come to the flea market to buy and sell.

Can Green use his Kenning to locate things of interest, please?

Ava's finger traced down a stack of books, nail rasping idly against the spines. They weren't what she was there for, but it was impossible not to take a peek: the impulse to examine was too thoroughly ingrained to be ignored. There might be something interesting, something valuable or signed or full of curious notes and correspondences. So she paused and flipped through, taking note of titles and authors and squinting at questionable cover art. In the end nothing called out to her, and she gave a small nod to the woman in the stall before moving on.

She really wasn't there for books, for while she was loathe to say she had 'enough' or 'too many', she certainly didn't want any more at the moment. Instead, she combed the rows for odds and ends with character, trinkets that spoke to her enough to be used as vessels for dreamweaving. She wanted to practice, but all of her possessions were either functional or felt grossly sentimental to invest with spun dreams. The mystery and possibility that came with old, random things appealed to her; speculation on the stories of things, where they came from and by way of whom, sparked ideas she believed would help in the process. Besides, there was a sort of comfort in buying things she didn't expressly need that would, if she failed, turn into unlikely adornment for her bleak apartment.

Fiddling with the latch of a barrette that was some sort of carved bone, she spied the unmistakable bulk of Green a couple stalls down. She returned the bauble to the table and snaked her way through the crowd to his side; if he wished to browse in peace she would let him, but it felt silly not to say hi. "Hey, Green. How's it going?" she piped up beside him, shielding her face from the sun's glare with a raised hand.

Milo made his way through the stalls, visually combing through the many oddities. Paperweights, statuettes, and so many other little knick knacks that could theoretically spark a conversation with someone. The Fairest had been a bit of a recluse the first half of the year and recognized that, and that drove him out of his Hollow to talk and bargain with the various merchants and buyers in the flea market. They weren't like him, but it was interesting company none the less.

Unfortunately nothing had caught his eye yet. Fortunately that changed as he moved from one stall and saw the Darkling who had come to the Autumn Commons the night he had arrived in the city.

"Daniel." The Fool said as made his way over. "How have you been?"

A flea market is where Ramona first encountered her Keeper. For months after her escape from Arcadia, she'd avoided them. Then a few friends had encouraged her to come out again, overcome her fear and hesitation, cast off another aspect of her victimization. That was years ago. Flea markets are no problem for Ramona now. But she always remembers; be careful what you purchase. You have no idea what it really is, or where it really came from. Still, that very aspect makes flea markets a beautiful source of inspiration to any artist, even one that works with fire and metal and muscle.

There's another reason for her to browse though. Not for the property on sale, but for the people selling them. Now that she's doing more of her own work, in her forge in the Summer Hollow, she could start selling it on her own. Would a flea market be a good place to set up shop? Get a table, put some stuff on display. Art, knives, cookware. Anything on the lighter side she could think to create. It's hard to measure what's in demand though. Would these crowds buy from a local blacksmith, and what would they buy? And sooner or later, she'll have to ask someone about the details. If a permit's required to set up here, or there's some kind of fee.

Daniel looked up from the pile of vintage shirts he had been rifling through in the hopes of finding something that didn't immediately scream '70s!'.

"Hey, Milo," he said with a smile when he recognized the Fairest. "Man, haven't talked with you since... what? Autumn? How are you?" He abandoned his search for now to talk with his fellow Freeholder.

"Been wearing out a lot of shirts lately myself. Was hoping to find some nice cheap stuff here. You?"

By chance, just then, the runed ogre smith passed behind Milo. "Looks like we're not the only ones with an antique itch," he said indicating for the Shadowsoul to check behind him.

The cry of "Ramona!" echoed over the crowd as Daniel waved a pale hand for the Stonebones to see.

Green grunts in acknowledgement; money changes hands. He hefts the huge shopping bag (stuffed with the discarded garments of poor departed Aunt Cordelia, which apparent went back decades. The Aunt was a fashionista to the death, it seemed) testing its bulk rather than its weight. Satisfied, he granted the seller a small smile and moved on.

Sighting Ava, he rumbled back: "Hey yourself. You out yourself, yeah? It... Its the day for it." His voice trailed slightly as he picked out Daniel, Milo and Ramona.

Turning back to Ava. "Guess I'm fine. You?" He stared down at the Beast, holding his huge shopping bag in one hand and completely unconcerned that it appeared to be filled with feminine clothing.

Her name isn't exactly common. When it's shouted, the Ogress lifts her head, turning to find the source of the sound. There's Daniel over there, by a shirt stand, and Milo. That's a positive plus a negative right there, neutral. Though the fact that Daniel seems enthusiastic to see her is a nudge in the positive direction. She turns to face them, and weaves her way amidst stalls and crowds of browsers to meet them. "Hey, guys," she greets.

"Since Autumn, yes." The Fairest confirmed, grinning all the while. "I've been well. Met some people, did some things, I suspect it's nothing extraordinary for our community."

Of course memory stealing birds and abductions were absolutely out of the ordinary, but not exactly something to talk about in such a public place.

At the question of what he was looking for his eyes wandered back to the stalls. "Mostly just a reason to get out and about, but there's always some interesting trinket hidden in the mountain of refuse."

As Daniel called out to the ogress Milo continued to smile. He didn't especially like or dislike the woman, so her company was no more inconvenient then it was any other member of the freehold joining them. "Hello Ramona, how have you been?"
