Pain flooded in. He can't look down for two reasons. First, there's no time and he needed every second he had. Second, it would only adversely effect him right now and he needed to stay focused. What he focused on instead was making sure that shooting July was the worst mistake that fucker ever made in his soon to be ended life.
Immediately he fired both guns into the man still standing. He wouldn't be let standing. Keeping one gun trained on the two shotgun wielding men he headed over to the back of the banisher house and pointed his other gun at the back door. He didn't know what Avis and Star were doing inside but if the dealer made a run for it he'd be there to stop him.
The gang-banger dances the electric boogaloo to the tune of July's report. When the short, violent song ends, the man collapses. His head crashes against the dirt and weeds and though it's quite natural, it is startling. Or, perhaps, if it was for anyone but July.

It's almost like the start to a foot-race at the olympics. A gun report rings out and people move. That's how it works, doesn't it? But this is a ramshackle house, in a ramshackle neighborhood, and the dealer is afraid for his life. He runs, he's quicker off the blocks. But those same blocks bar him from really making any headway.
He certainly wasn't prepared to drop everything and run.
It leaves him open for slower to react, but far better runners to catch up to him and close the distance.

There was no time to bark out anything, only inhale and run, catch the fleeing rat bastard piece of shit before he could duck out and use the home turf to his advantage. She just hoped that all the sharper gun reports in the background meant it was July and his pistols doing the killing and not motherfuckers like this.
