This was not the first time July had had a gun pointed in his face, and if he survived today it certainly wouldn't be the last. He kept his face angry to stick with his yelling performance and said loudly, "who the fuck am I? I'm the guy that's going to," before turning to the decoy house and yelled, "break down this door if the asshole in there doesn't give me my wallet back." He kept his body facing the two men with weapons, his hands ready to go for his guns if the show didn't work. He put everything into his act to help protect his cabalmates.

Focusing back on the guns he said, "now no offense, but this has nothing to do with you two, unless you plan on helping me get him out."

Honestly, she was considering abandoning the stealth and just making this loud. July seemed to already be halfway there, though there was a big difference between yelling to keep a cover and making the events of the day echo out to every Banisher in the city. It would be better for them to assume that GLO was still baffling the Consilium, and that they weren't on its trail, but at the end of the day intel was all they really needed. If she had to drag it out of this asshole's head, she would.

The words were soft, but meant for everyone as the mop craned around the side of the house. Some people are meant to creep around in the dark. Others? Get named July.

Ignoring it now just looks fishy, yo.

It's tempting, to push it. Just a little. Ask to go inside. Maybe for safety. Maybe to use the bathroom. But don't. The deal is going down, so there's no reason to Push.

Besides? The Backup might end up needing backup.

The guys at the back door aren't picking up what July is putting down. Even without the magic, drugs – and drugs that are of strange providence – are to be protected. It's a dog-eat-dog world out there and a healthy dose of suspicion will go a long way towards protecting what they got.

Slowly, Avis held the money out. Not to go forward with the deal, or the scheme, but as a distraction. The asshole's eyes would be on the dough, not on the bottle in her hand if it came to it. Sounded like whatever July had been going for hadn't turned out well...

Stupid criminals. Why couldn't they have just accepted the lie?

He kind of felt bad that he was going to have to kill them. He'd seen hundreds of criminals and they were all cocky and quick to anger, thinking violence was the answer. They were right in some ways though. Violence would be the answer today. But they'd be on the receiving end. A regret they won't have long to think about.

At the sound of the gun he stepped back as quickly as he could to give himself some distance from the two. This was partially to keep them away and partially because shotguns were deadly at close range and he wanted to potentially reduce the threat of it as much as possible under the circumstances. As he moved his body back, his arms moved as if they'd done this exact thing a hundred times, which in all likelihood they had. He had practiced with these firearms every day for many years and he had fired them at many a perp. His two .40 S&W pistols felt cool and natural in his hands as they slipped effortlessly out of his shoulder holsters. He barely had to think about his actions as the guns moved into position. His body felt completely in sync. This wasn't going to be like with Striker. No rubber bullets would be fired this day.

Both guns were pointed at the one with the shotgun. He was the clearest threat and needed to be taken down with the best aim and the most focus. The other subject didn't even have his gun ready, probably relying on the one with the shotgun to act the part. July would have the briefest of moments before that one would have his gun ready to retaliate, and he could recover easier from a pistol than a shotgun.

So much for subtlety.

There are two reactions to violence: fight or flight. Inside, the dealer forgets about the money and drops the baggie, money forgotten. Shotgun reports smashing his concentrating and telling him to do a single thing: run. Dealers and Violence Makers are all cowards, all of them out for themselves and no one else. Survivial is the first order of the day.

If you want to chase down the dealer, roll init. You guys will begin on the top of Round 2

The first of the Bangers falls down like a sack of potatos, blood blossoming like a rose – angry and defiant. The second of the gang-bangers levels a shotgun, keeping his ground despite the angry wound that has ripped through his body.

If he lives through this, it will be a story to tell.

His shotgun's throaty-noise screams in opposition to July's guns.
