Meeting the Seneschal

[Martha Villiers]

Smiling, Martha hobbles to the door to the Seneschal's Chamber.

She hesitates for a few moments. Gathering her thoughts and trying to steel her Beast for the encounter.

Gripping her simple metal cane in one hand, she gently raps on the chamber's door with the other...

Waiting patiently for a reply...

For any who see her, Martha is neatly attired in an English style school uniform: a neat straw boater, a black blazer... a pair of scholarly... yes, she'd admit it..."Hipster" style... Spectacles are perched daintily on the end of her nose, she wears a short gymslip which shows her single leg to mid thigh. Her raven black hair is tied into two very long twin tails, each tied with a scarlet ribbon bow.

A swift glance would reveal that she's using only a simple metal peg leg from high up her left thigh.

She wears a white knee sock on her flesh leg and a single carefully polished black Oxford pattern shoe, a crisp white blouse is obvious where the Edwardian style gymslip reveals it, as is her red necktie tucked neatly into her gymslip. Martha also wears a useful looking school satchel. Though smelling of minty toothpaste and lemons, she's shunned more obvious cosmetics.

She emits no Beast.

Her petite presence, however, exudes a tangible sweetness and innocence.

Martha dips a respectful curtsey to the neatly attired Seneschal. "Good evening, Seneschal! Thank you! G...goodness, you look simply smart and splendid this evening!" she giggles cheerily and hobbles in when invited. Limping badly and placing a reliance on her cane, tiny Martha takes the seat indicated. Her peg leg sticking out at an odd angle.

"I hoped we might discuss ideas. I am grateful for your reply to my memo, ma'am. So I wished to discuss matters in more detail." she smiles, turning in her seat to better be able to to watch Katya's eyes and legs as she walks.

"However, ma'am, I am also ready to discuss matters of importance to you too!" she smiles sweetly, resting her cane across her lap in a modest and gentle gesture. Wide eyed, she smiles once more.

Smiling, Martha watched as Katya took her seat and giggled in high spirits at Katya's compliments.

"Ah, yes, the Boomerang System..." she nods, "I had an idea that we might either set up or subvert a small private military company. The Boomerang system is typically only available to the military or law enforcement. But I suspect PMC's can have legitimate access to such equipment too..." she smiles sweetly.

"Equipment always 'falls between the cracks' too after an exercise or military operation, so the arms black market should be able to supply them too. The Pentagon estimates it loses track of over millions, millions of dollars worth of military equipment each year. We'd be foolish if we didn't try to enhance our firepower and capabilities by getting into some of that action. Last year a serving sergeant in the US army was arrested after stealing $400,000 worth of tactical equipment, such as night vision goggles, respirators and such like, and selling it at a local pawn shop." she shrugs as she relates the story, rubbing at her peg leg as she speaks, Martha adds, "He's not alone. There are, sadly, more than enough vulnerable serving personnel who will be susceptible to bribes..." another sweet smile. Martha rubs at her peg leg for a moment before adding, "I just thought the Boomerang system would be useful and if it allows us a means and motive to investigate what local networks of the blackmarket we could interact with..."

Martha smiles and privately contemplates obtaining a bayonet. Nodding, she waits to see what Katya has to say about the ideas so far...

Martha is listening carefully. Rubbing at where her knee was, she pauses and nods. Wide eyed, as Katya reminds her that Konrad knows his way around the black market. "Ah! Priscus Roth, of course! He should be able to help! I daresay we could source a cheaper variant of the Boomerang, but it's value rests in its technology. When it comes to hi-tech, I'm always in favour of spending on quality."

Now gently rubbing at her the few inches of her pale, crippled, thigh, Martha adds, "I have no wish to go outside the remit of the Reeve too... naturally, we should include the next Reeve in any planning. But I was keen to raise these matters with you whilst fresh in my mind. I'd hate to be negligent in planning..." a shy smile is offered as she fusses to neaten and modestly adjust her gymskirt.

As her peg leg wiggles, she adds, "I daresay we can set, or we could, set up a PMC off-shore. Trading outside of the USA allows for a wide range of tax and regulatory advantages. It is no coincidence that 82 of the top 100 US companies operate via offshore shell companies. Exploiting this legal loophole enables these companies to avoid paying over $90 billion in federal taxes per annum... $90... billion..." Martha adds a shy smile, Meekly is adjusting her spectacles in a scholastic gesture.

Martha smiles; adding; "That all sounds ideal, ma'am! We can make notes and add these things to our collective 'to do' list!" she chirps merrily and, as she speaks, Martha draws a small notebook and ballpoint pen from her blazer pocket. As she speaks, she writes something...

"Ah, yes, quite ideal, ma'am! I will look forward to meeting Priscus Roth again. How are plans developing for selecting a replacement Reeve, ma'am?" Martha asks, still writing... after a few moments she silently hands Katya the neatly written note, gesturing with a dainty finger to her lips to suggest silence reference the note which reads thus:

Ma'am,

A note so we may communicate in greater secrecy lest this chamber be 'bugged' by our enemies. We ought to source both a specialist canine and electronic explosive detection wand too - so we may effectively sweep both this Elysian Field and other vital centers of our Domain for explosives.

Our enemies have access to the Elysian and other sites of importance. No one would question their access.

Thereby, I fear that our most potent enemy may plant explosives as a last ditch gesture of revenge or bargaining when our teams finally confront and defeat them. Perhaps I am paranoid, but I would be prepared rather than regret taking that elementary precaution.

Martha smiles sweetly, adjusting her spectacles once more.
