(FoS 2015) Milo and Coco

[Milo Chernobog]

The shift in tone didn't go unnoticed. That with the subject matter left little to Milo's imagination. Still, he had to wonder who would be recognized, or perhaps more importantly who among the gathering he personally recognized. Daniel Leto, Rick Pereg, he wasn't even sure what skill set L'aire brought to the table and they were working together. Still, he had heard things, either through the rumor mill or received a glimpse through these very gatherings. Maybe his decisions were well informed, maybe they could have been better informed, but he was confident enough in the people he had voted for.

Even the bitter one in front of him.

"I see" He said in his best understanding voice. "Well then let me ask you this, how confident are you that you made an informed decision in this vote? And if I may, who would you say the best informed members of the Freehold are?"

As he posed the final question his eyes began to wonder to the violet eyed Winter he had spent so much time chasing the Long Midnight with. It was a fleeting glance, maybe not even intentional, but it certainly said something about his opinion of the matter.

Milo's questions were never answered, for as soon as the Summer King announced the newly elected officials the Wasp seemed to deflate into herself and then, after some moments of looking stricken, wandered over to the coolers to retrieve a beverage. A bottle of vodka, it turned out, and with a lazy gate she returned to Milo and handed him the second of two plastic cups.

"So it seems the rabble has spoken, eh? And now we sorry souls are left to grovel before those newly raised above us," she declared with bitter, false cheer, pouring a healthy shot into Milo's cup. "Ah, but alas, there is still hope for the rest of us unworthy folk, isn't there? We might still be chosen to be the guard dog or the hawk tethered to a new master's wrist! Oh, such joy there is in that hope. Of being fodder for the slaughtering fields or the frozen knife in the blizzard."

She poured herself twice as much and then raised her cup.

"But! To the Freehold!"
