There were, of course, many questions left unanswered: Who should he make friends with? Who should he avoid? There was much to know, but eventually the sun must rise, and he was starting to get hungry.

Besides, some things were perhaps better left as mysteries for the time being. He knew himself well enough to know that, if he allowed himself to, he would exhaust not only the topic, but also himself, as well as his welcome. So, though the researcher in him rebelled at being shut up, Martel kept his peace.

Gilroy was momentarily distracted by Katya's announcement to the Court. Another Circle member in a position of power. Wonderful. he thought sarcastically. He was curious how she had gotten the Prince's trust. He hadn't noticed them really interacting at court till now.

When Angel asked for questions, Kenneth turned back and his head wobbled a negative. "As always Priscus, we follow your lead and example."

Having concluded his business for the night, Kenneth politely bows to the man he wanted to tear apart and departs for the university. There was still much to do and each night held only a fraction of eternity to do it in.
