He takes a moment to take stock of this rare treasure, once distanced enough from the rest of the group. What he sees is impressive. Dazzling blue eyes and lips like precious blood. Honeyed voice. Body language and pose that could beckon a saint to denounce his vows. Truly, she is a temptress in stunning, predatory attire. How clever. Does she also imagine her Beast as a cat?

"Honte à toi... you leave this old rogue at a disadvantage. You know my name but, alas, I don't know yours." His tone is playful but his steely gaze says something else. Perhaps.

Velma eyed the stranger as he approached, apparently oblivious to his thoughts on the subject at hand. Not that it mattered to her…

She was just about to convey a message, it would be over fast she hoped.

”Yes, you are at a disadvantage.” In all fairness it had to be said. The Succubus smile widens, the tigress inclines gently as she steps forward invading his private space, slowly but deliberately.

”Carthian representative, oui?” Because everyone knows how to say yes in French, right?

Should Gerald remain in his place the Ravager gently touches his shoulder with one of her perfectly manicured fingers pulling him slowly as if by a hook so that she can whisper in his ear.

The next words trail out of her mouth like honey laced with the most bitter of poison - a soft whisper only for Gerald to hear.

”Tell me Mr. Baker, are all members of your little covenant loud mouthed fools like you?”

“I’m curious…” That was basically the point. It wasn’t about making a fool of himself in front of the Duchess or the Monomacy winner… stomping on the image of a former domain official while claiming membership to a covenant had to have repercussions.

What his eyes don't say is how much he finds himself coveting this Daeva. And not for the sake of lust, either. Not entirely, anyway. Gerald's desires are closer to wanting to own this yet unnamed little delight. Let his Beast do with her as if wants to and satiate his need for blood with something a little more potent .After all... the best things in life are free, and Gerald know that anything can be free if you have the power to take it.

A brow arches at her coy response, though her smile and inviting movements give his retort a backseat. He instead responds to her somewhat rhetorical question. "Oui" He even allows himself to be pulled closer by her gentle tug at his shoulder. She makes this so easy, does she not? Gerald half wonders if his imaginations will soon come to fruition.

Then, like a glass shattering, the intrigue this woman has - her inviting pull - falls to pieces in an instant. He recoils, though only enough to look her in the eyes as he speaks. Matching her quiet tone.

"I take it, then, that you have no patience for idle curiosity." he says, still covering somewhat for his displeasure with banter. "The covenant is small, and our members'... 'dispositions' vary like so many snowflakes."

A pause, as he smiles again: emboldened like a politician on the attack. "You don't have to like everything I have to say. My actions will speak louder. In time, the Movement's contributions to this Domain will be impossible to overlook. Change is unstoppable. Like a freight train. Perhaps you should consider riding instead of standing in the middle of the tracks".

He steps back into his own personal space again, still smiling though, perhaps, less genuinely.

There is a light chuckle escaping Velma’s lips, amused and twisted.

”Wrong answer Mr. Baker.” The tone of her voice is calm and her words are placid. The Ravager shakes her head in a condescending way.

”Next time we have this conversation the least of your worries will be to look bad in Elysium.” The Succubus turns around still smiling and looks back over her shoulder allowing Gerald a view of her back.

Something in the way she delivers her icy words while still maintaining a calm and pleasant facade... Present, though cleverly disguised are a promise of what? Violence? Disgrace? Who is this woman? The unpleasant thought arises that, perhaps, his roguishness had indeed gotten him into trouble. If her cold certainty that there would be a 'reckoning' is any indication, Gerald may have burned his first bridge.

And he didn't even get her name.

"Of course..." is all he can muster, before seeking out more welcoming company.
