Al-Adin waited by the old pawnshop. He had told nightfall they would be training there, to get better at running. Together they would become faster than anyone!
Only, Al-Adin didn't remember if he told Nightfall 10 oclock or 11 oclock. Oh well, Nightfall would remember what he told him.
And its not like Al-Adin kept a watch on him anyway.

GoodwillNightfall comes around the corner with a bag of Kolaches. Al-Adin had told him 10, but he assumed that his friend would either be off, or misremember. He's been walking around the block at a leisurely pace since 9, doing some window shopping, and even collecting a few phone numbers. Two from business women rushing home from work, three from dog walkers. One from a meter maid.
He waves to Adin with a smile, and motions for him to have a kolache.

Al-Adin spots nightfall, and more importantly the delicious looking food. "MMMM!" Al-Adin runs over to nightfall, and gives him a hug, while still eating the kolache.
"Mmou mamm!" *Swallow *You came! Great great! I want to show you what I know, and we'll get you good and strong and fast!" Al-Adin has the biggest grin on his face.

GoodwillNightfall strikes a pose like an NFL running back. He looks fairly ridiculous, even to Al-Adin. With a laugh, he wads up the bag and tosses it into a nearby bin.
"I've never done this, so take it easy," he grins. "Where are we going?"

Al-Adin's grin, if possible, goes even wider. He puts a hand out and raises it, a single finger pointing to the heavens.
"Up!"
He then scampers up some exterior pipes and bricks of the liquor store, and is soon on the roof. He leans back over "Easy! Hard stuff we do next week!"

Goodwill"Not the park or something?" Nightfall's question trail off as Al-Adin begins his ascent. He looks around, wondering how they'll explain this if a cop drives by. That's actually a pretty good excuse to decline, all things considered... because there's no way the ridges between the bricks will support him. At least, he doesn't think so.
Still, he's not one to just... give up. He studies the piping, and begins climbing -- hands on the pipe, feet against the bricks. After several long minutes of 'walking' and shimmying (and cursing), he nears the top. If he were being chased for fear of his life, he'd already be dead.
"Adin," he grunts, hanging onto the pipe near the top, "Now what?" If he lets go of the pipe to grab the top of the roof, he'll fall.
He's Nightfall, not Rooffall.

Al-Adin cheers nightfall on (surprisingly quietly), as he makes his ascent. When he gets so close to the top Adin grins.
"Press both feet against the base of the pipe and jump, then use your hands to catch the ledge. And if your hands don't, mine will catch yours." Friends stick together. Friends stick out their next for each other. And friends don't let friends fall 20 feet. Its not healthy.

Goodwill"Huuuhhhhh," grunted Nightfall in response. It could be agreement... or doubt that his friend could catch and hold him... or just the stran of holding himself up. While he was moderately athletic, most of his slim, toned muscles were developed for balance -- dancing and fencing. Not for the brute force application of climbing.
Thank god there was some jumping in ballet.
He bounced a bit, trying to get some momentum and huffed breaths in time. Falling just wasn't an option, and although his friend might catch him, sometimes Al-Adin could be... overeager. Like, overconfident overeager.
He jumped at the apex of one of his bounces, putting everything he had into it.
"I did it!!!" he yelled in triumph. Fuck the police.Close Call
And, of course, it being going from hanging from a pipe to hanging by his fingertips to the roof. He could have climbed down the pipe.

"WHOOO!" Al-Adin shouts as well. Al-Adin grabs Nightfall's arms and with surprisingly little difficulty, pulls him up onto the roof.
"Great job!" He slaps Nightfall on the back; then turns and looks up. The stars look absolutely great tonight.

Goodwill"Wow," Nightfall says, surprised at his friend's strength. "Thanks," he added with a smile. It was a nice night, and even this small pawn shop's elevation was enough to show the city's lights.
He rotated his arms like windmills, loosening his shoulders.
"What's next?"
He really hoped they weren't going to just jump down.
