Lynn didn't hear anything, but she knew her senses weren't as keen as the others. Trusting that someone or something was there she slowly reached around and flipped the catch on the knife sheath bolted to the back of her fiddle case. Gripping the hilt, she slowly eased it out about an inch and held her breath, waiting.

Morgan did hear noises, they set her old instincts off. Something trying to be quiet in the Hedge was hiding from you, either to flee or ambush. Morgan drew a blade from her waist pack, turning to look at Lynn and Daniel she made the universal "shhh" sign with her hand in front of her face. Morgan was paranoid enough to not make a sound. She then began scanning the thorns that were on her side of the group.

As Morgan scanned the thorns nearby, she finally spotted the tip of an arrow being pointed in her direction. However, the arrow was quickly placed back in its quiver once the Darkling recognized the Steepescrambler. A mere seconds later, Degnar came out from his hiding spot with his bow and arrows slung over his back. He offered a quick wave to Morgan and the others.
"Sorry," he said to the Beast. "One can never be too careful out here."
He had been scrounging around for goblin fruit, but had managed to get himself lost during his scavenging trip. Lucky for him, he had ran into this group. Well, unless they were lost as well...but there's strength in numbers, so it was still better than roaming around the Hedge all alone.
"Ehhh...what are you all doing out here?" he asked, directing the question to Morgan, since he hadn't met the others.

Lynn glanced between the newcomer and Morgan, waiting for an explanation. It would seem as if they knew each other, but she didn't know what kind of history was between them. If it was good, she'd welcome somebody who looked like they knew what they were doing in the Hedge. Behind her, her hand still clasped the hilt of the knife she'd brought.

Fuck! Morgan made ready to dive until the arrow was put away and a familiar figure appeared. The tension eased out of Morgan's form as she visibliy calmed. She let out the breath she'd been holding and waved a greeting to the toothy Degnar, "Heh-salutations Degnar. Looong t-time you have b-b-been unseen...uh, what we arrr doing?"
She twisted herself around to look back and forth between Lynn and Daniel. Then she let out a "meh" and turned back to Degnar with a weak smile, "Honesty with comrades. Long-lengthy version would take a while. Short-brief version be b-b-better: looking for Hal's hidden library. P-p-pretty certain nada of them," she jerks her thumbs at Daniel and Lynn over her shoulders quickly. The hand pointing at Daniel still has a throwing knife cluthce din it, "Heh-heh-have trouble wid t-t-saying reason..." she then tilts her head back calling to them, "R-r-right doods? Heh-he is patroller of the Freehold if I remember right..."
A thought then struck her. Her next question was spoken with obvious fear in it, "Uh, Degnar? Y-you heh-haven't seen anything t-t-t-that look-ah-like a unholy-blood-soaked fusion of goat and gorilla, heh-heh...have you?"

Lynn visibly relaxed at the way Morgan reacted to the new comer. Twisting slightly, she slipped her knife back into the sheath and snapped the catch closed. Now having one hand free, she waved a bit at Degnar and smiled. "Hello there."

Daniel remained slightly wary though a lot of the tension eased with Morgan’s response to Degnar. Still, he glanced over at Goyle and the dog. He doubted they would take a new arrival well. Then there was the fact that they were on a mission unsanctioned by the local freehold crowns. If Degnar was a “patroller” as Morgan said, he was pretty sure whatever report he filed would mention this the Winter Queen.

Degnar listened to Morgan's explanation, remaining perfectly still as he did his best to understand the stuttering Beast. When she was done, he nodded once to her before glancing at the others. "Hello," he offered in greeting, his voice as monotone as always. The Darkling turned back to Morgan and shook his head once. "I have not seen what you speak of. I was merely foraging for goblin fruits when I heard some movement in the area. Turns out it was the lot of you," he said to the Steepescrambler with a quick shrug.
"You look for HAL's library, huh?" he said after a brief pause, his black beady eyes squinting slightly. "I've been there once. A couple of years ago."

Morgan let out a loud sigh in relief, before shaking her head and waving her left hand in the negative, "No-worries-no-worries, heh. Not zzzeen t-t-that things since it sssss-wrecked my-my back months ago, heh-heh," A shiver went down her spine as her back tingled at the memory. She was really glad she'd bought her jacket on that night. "Hope it long gone. Oh, uh, sssorry to disrupt your...farming-no-no, foraging, heh-heh." And it looked like the other three were letting her do the talking. Understandable with their "guide" but Daniel and Lynn were sworn members, just like Degnar. They should be able to trust their fellow courtiers, right?
The raccoon visibly perked up when the Darkling archer mentioned he'd been to the library. She stopped hunching in on herself and was now standing tall, if slightly leaning towards Degnar, "Really-really yozz b-b-been there? G-g-g-good then, heh. Heh-heh, Hal's library probably has mmmuch better occult-fae-dragon-killing facts t-t-then the public libraries, right? And-and c-c-couldn't hurt to heh-have someone who'd had permission to visit it before inna group..."
She then looked back at Garth, their guide for this adventure. Morgan would feel better having someone who she knew could fight well along. Even better, Degnar might be helpful in reaching the library if he'd been there before. She sheepishly smiled at Garth aas she realized they'd need his approval first, "Um-uh, heh-heh, t-t-that is if you d-don't mind heh-having him," she points at Degnar, "c-come along. Heh-he has already been before ssso at least th-that should mean he has had Hal's permission to visit in the past."
