The Life of an Urban Wizard

[Emrys]

Emrys needed food. It was one of those things in the Lie that everyone had to face eventually, or for now at least. Time and Life meant suspending those base functions eventually, but that was a pipe dream right now. Right now it was grocery time.

The Enchanter made his way through the Safeway with his cart full of cheap meals. You had your obligatory hot dogs and Kraft Mac and Cheese, spaghetti and some sauce, and the usual other suspects when you either spent all your money or were expecting to in the near future.

After meandering through the store some Emrys found himself in the frozen foods section eying some Red Baron's pizza's he shouldn't splurge on but probably would. Being responsible with your money was hard sometimes.

[Einstein]

"Foooooood." The call of the wild Einstein resonated in the aisles of the supermarket. The mad scientist was one of those people who could rarely survive without food, unless she had something else captivating, really captivating, pulling her attention. Then she could avoid eating for days. In any case, this was not one of those times where her attention was elsewhere, and so she had gone to the supermarket, at the behest of Parliament, to acquire nourishment and sustenance. The Owl in question floated in front of her, lazily flapping his wings and moving about the aisles to help her find what he thought was good for her. She, however, was paying attention to something else. She hadn't expected to see a familiar face around a place like this; she'd always been convinced she was one of the few Mages who still needed to eat. Or was in any way human. She waved at Emrys. "Hey, buddy!"

As Emrys finally caved to the desire for pizza, he heard the greeting of the roaming Einstein. Of coarse she would catch him at his moment of weakness, but it wasn't like the reason for such a predicament was immediately apparent.

"Hey Einstein!" The Enchanter smiled to his fellow Libertine as she approached. "Here to forage amid the wilds of the supermarket?"

He slides the two oven pizza's into the cart with his other snacks.

[Einstein]

The woman nodded at Emrys, stopping her shopping cart to start the conversation with him. Parliament ceased his flapping around and inspecting and landed on top of the cart, waiting politely and possibly impatiently. She grinned, as usual. "Yessir! Even I have to eat every now and then, or so I'm reminded. How about you?" She took a glance inside his cart. "Oh, frozen pizza. I should probably grab some of those." A quick glance at Parliament's face informed her of his opinion on the matter, and she smiled sheepishly. "Or maybe not. They're unhealthy...I guess..."

[Emrys]

The Enchanter smiled at Einstein's remark before eyes wander to the empty space she looked to before changing her mind.

"Pizza is always good though." Emrys said as his smile turned into a smirk, doing his best Warlock impression. "What's wrong with one pizza? Yummy yummy pepperoni!"

The smirk subsided some, pondering some serious discussion. "I'm pretty good, might start working my first job in town soon! That's fun. And now I have pizza too. Who doesn't love pizza?"

Okay, semi-serious discussion, and he was totally smirking again.

[Einstein]

"That's true, pizza's always good. I can never seem to actually eat any though, things keep getting in the way and then it expires." It was quite an achievement, really, letting pizza expire. Seriously, after the apocalypse, screw Twinkies, Einstein was gonna hunt her down some frozen pizza. "Oh, you got a job? Cool, what are you doing?"

[Jhet]

Everyone needs groceries. Well, maybe not everyone. There are some spells that can simulate fulfilling those needs, but that requires a great understanding of life, so Elle still needs to go grocery shopping. She pushes a cart filled with a plethora of fruits and vegetables. And the biggest container of cheese puffs they make and carry in regular grocery stores. There are larger ones, but this ain't Costco.

It's even better to go shopping somewhere and fit in without worrying about how the other mages are going to look at her. So she's perfectly comfortable in her jeans and suburban mother attire. There's only one thing missing from her list at this point, and it's in the frozen foods section. Ice cream. Rocky Road. Chunky Monkey. Cookies and Cream. Bring them on.

Turning down the aisle is easy. It's who she sees in the aisle that makes her stop. It's that guy from her meeting. Damn. Almost made it all the way through the list and home without incident. Almost. He was in between her and her ice cream. Worth the social interaction? Ice cream is always worth the risk.

She starts her legs moving again.

"Hi, uhm, excuse me."

She points to the ice cream just past Emrys and Einstein. The feeling of magic in the air she assumes is coming from him, so she doesn't fret as she tries to maneuver her cart.

[Emrys]

"Pizza expires?" Emrys asked with a half smile. "And just a small job for Mace, something about a ghostbusting party?"

And of coarse, at that moment, his Councilor was there. "Y'know, like the movie! Not a huge fan though. Hi Elle!" Worst save ever, but he wasn't screaming 'I'm gonna go hunt ghosts with the Moros' anyway.

Eyes peaked down into Elle's cart as he moved to the side, and Emrys smiled a bit at her culinary bipolar disorder. Fruits, vegetables, and cheesy poofs?

"I love cheesy poofs, you love cheesy poofs, if we didn't eat cheesy poofs then we'd be laaaaaaaame!" The Libertine smiled to his Councilor as he sang the first thing that came to mind. At least he thought it was funny.

Einstein nods at Emrys. "It expires. Either that or...something weird is going down. Which I wouldn't entirely discount." She glanced at the familiar only she could see, who chose that moment to look very nonchalant, then she turned back to him. "Sounds like fun." Her next action was turning to the woman who had showed up and scratch her neck sheepishly. "Oh, sorry. You want the ice cream?" She went through the series of complicated shopping cart maneuvers required to get out of the way, then gave Emrys a look. "A passable impression."

[Jhet]

"Emrys."

She says his name in the return of the greeting. Quietly though, because what kind of name is Emrys? Not one that you'd actually name your kid, and this is a public grocery store. Empty enough, but not actually empty. She does the cart dance so that she's can get to the ice cream.

"Can't stay in and read a book without a pint of ice cream." And a bottle of wine. "Thanks."

She grabs at the pints of Ben and Jerry's. Tossing them into her cart. Five pints of ice cream, and it's not on sale. So she has a sweet tooth.
